1 Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.	1 Vous êtes des fils pour Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous ferez pas d’incisions ni de tonsures sur le front pour un mort.
2 for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.	2 Tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu, il t’a choisi pour que tu sois son peuple au milieu de tous les peuples de la terre.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.	3 Tu ne mangeras rien d’abominable.
4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,	4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le bœuf, le mouton, la chèvre,
5 The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.	5 le cerf, la gazelle, le daim, la chèvre de Nubie, l’antilope, le bœuf sauvage et la chèvre sauvage.
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.	6 Vous mangerez de tout animal qui a le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu, et qui rumine;
7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.	7 mais vous ne mangerez pas ceux qui ruminent seulement ou qui ont seulement le sabot divisé, le pied fourchu. Ainsi vous ne mangerez pas le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin qui ruminent mais qui n’ont pas le sabot divisé. Ils seront impurs à vos yeux.
8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.	8 C’est encore le cas pour le porc qui a le sabot divisé mais qui ne rumine pas: il sera impur à vos yeux. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair et vous ne toucherez pas leur cadavre.
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:	9 Parmi tous les êtres qui vivent dans l’eau, vous pourrez manger ceux qui ont nageoires et écailles.
10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.	10 Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui n’ont ni nageoires ni écailles: ils seront impurs à vos yeux.
11 Of all clean birds ye shall eat.	11 Vous pourrez manger tous les oiseaux purs.
12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and ossifrage, and the ospray,	12 Voici ceux que vous ne mangerez pas: l’aigle, la buse et le vautour,
13 And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,	13 le faucon, le milan et toute espèce de rapaces,
14 And every raven after his kind,	14 toute espèce de corbeaux,
15 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,	15 l’autruche, le hibou, la mouette et toute espèce d’éperviers,
16 The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,	16 le chat-huant, l’ibis et la chouette,
17 And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,	17 le pélican, le cygne et le cormoran,
18 And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.	18 la cigogne, le héron de toute espèce, la huppe et la chauve-souris.
19 And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.	19 Tous les insectes ailés seront impurs à vos yeux,
20 But of all clean fowls ye may eat.	20 mais de tout oiseau pur vous pourrez manger.
21 Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.	21 Tu ne mangeras d’aucune bête morte, mais tu pourras la donner à l’étranger qui habite au milieu de toi: il la mangera ou la vendra à un autre étranger. Mais toi, tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.	22 Tu prélèveras chaque année la dîme sur le produit de ce que tu auras semé, sur le produit de tes champs.
23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.	23 Tu mangeras devant Yahvé ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y faire habiter son Nom, la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, ainsi que les premiers-nés de la vache et de la brebis. Ainsi tu apprendras à garder toujours la crainte de Yahvé, ton Dieu.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:	24 Cependant, lorsque Yahvé ton Dieu t’aura béni, si le lieu qu’il a choisi pour y faire habiter son Nom est trop éloigné et que le chemin est trop long pour toi,
25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:	25 tu échangeras ta dîme contre de l’argent, tu prendras l’argent sur toi et tu te rendras au lieu que Yahvé ton Dieu aura choisi.
26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,	26 Là, avec ton argent, tu achèteras tout ce que tu voudras: des bœufs, des brebis, du vin, des liqueurs fermentées, en un mot, tout ce que tu voudras, et tu le mangeras là devant Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu feras la fête, toi et ta famille,
27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.	27 sans oublier le Lévite qui habite au milieu de toi, car il n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi.
28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:	28 Tous les trois ans, tu mettras de côté, toute la dîme de tes récoltes de l’année et tu la garderas dans ta cité.
29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.	29 Alors le Lévite qui n’a ni part ni héritage avec toi, l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve qui habitent au milieu de toi viendront, ils mangeront et seront comblés. Ainsi Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tout ce que tu entreprendras.
