Jonah 2

1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,	1 E il Signore avea preparato un gran pesce, affinchè questo ingoiasse Giona: e Giona stette nel ventre del pesce tre dì, e tre notti.
2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.	2 E dal ventre del pesce Giona ricorse al Signore Dio suo;
3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.	3 E disse: Nella mia tribolazione ho alzata la mia voce al Signore, ed egli mi ha esaudito: dal seno del sepolcro ho gridato, e tu hai esaudita la mia voce.
4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.	4 E tu mi hai gettato nel profondo, nell'abisso del mare, e le acque mi circondarono; tutti i tuoi gorghi, e tutti i tuoi flutti mi han ricoperto.
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.	5 E io dissi: Sono stato gettato lungi dal guardo degli occhi tuoi: con tutto ciò io vedrò di bel nuovo il tuo tempio santo.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.	6 Mi han circondato fino all'anima le acque; l'abisso mi ha serrato, il pelago ha sepolto il mio capo.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.	7 Sono sceso sino ai fondamenti delle montagne: le sbarre della terra mi hanno rinchiuso per sempre; ma tu dalla corruzione trarrai la mia vita, o Signore Dio mio.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.	8 Nelle angustie dell'anima mia mi son ricordato del Signore, per rivolgere la mia orazione a te, al tuo tempio santo.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.	9 Coloro, che inutilmente rispettano le vanità, abbandonano la loro misericordia.
10 And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.	10 Ma io la voce di laude offerirò a te in sacrifizio: renderò al Signore tutti i voto fatti per la mia salvazione.
	11 Or il Signore fece comando al pesce, e questo vomitò Giona alla riva.
