Jeremiah 43

1 And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,	1 Apenas Jeremías terminó de comunicar a todo el pueblo todas las palabras del Señor, su Dios, las que el Señor había mandado decirles –las palabras antes mencionadas –
2 Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:	2 Azarías, hijo de Maasías, Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos aquellos hombres arrogantes dijeron a Jeremías: «¡Es falso lo que tú dices! No es el Señor, nuestro Dios, el que te ha enviado a decirnos: «No entren en Egipto para residir allí»
3 But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.	3 Es Baruc, hijo de Nerías, el que te instiga contra nosotros, a fin de entregarnos en manos de los caldeos, para que ellos nos maten o nos destierren a Babilonia».
4 So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.	4 Pero Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, lo mismo que todos los jefes de las tropas y todo el pueblo, se negaron a escuchar la voz del Señor, que les mandaba quedarse en el país de Judá.
5 But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;	5 Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos los jefes de las tropas tomaron a todo el resto de Judá, a los que habían vuelvo a residir en el país de Judá, después de haber sido dispersados entre las naciones vecinas:
6 Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.	6 a los hombres, las mujeres, los niños y las hijas del rey, a todas las personas que Nebuzaradán, comandante de la guardia, había dejado con Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, y también al profeta Jeremías y a Baruc, hijo de Nerías.
7 So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.	7 Y ellos entraron en el país de Egipto, porque no escucharon la voz del Señor. Así llegaron a Tafnis.
8 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,	8 La palabra del Señor llegó a Jeremías en Tafnis, en estos términos:
9 Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;	9 Toma en tus manos unas piedras grandes, y húndelas, a la vista de algunos judíos, en el cemento del piso de ladrillos que está a la entrada de la casa del Faraón, en Tafnis.
10 And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.	10 Luego les dirás: Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Miren que yo mando traer a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, mi servidor: él instalará su trono encima de estas piedras que yo he hundido, y extenderá sobre ellas su baldaquino.
11 And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.	11 El vendrá y castigará al país de Egipto: ¡El destinado a la muerte, a la muerte, el destinado al cautiverio, al cautiverio, el destinado a la espada, a la espada!
12 And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.	12 Prenderá fuego a los templos de los dioses de Egipto, los quemará y llevará cautivos a los dioses; espulgará el país de Egipto como un pastor espulga su ropa, y saldrá de allí sano y salvo.
13 He shall break also the images of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.	13 Hará pedazos los obeliscos de Bet Semes –la que está en el país de Egipto– e incendiará los templos de los dioses de Egipto.
