KING JAMES BIBLE | NEW JERUSALEM |
---|---|
LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. | 1 [Prayer Of Moses, man of God] Lord, you have been our refuge from age to age. |
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. | 2 Before the mountains were born, before the earth and the world came to birth, from eternity to eternityyou are God. |
Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. | 3 You bring human beings to the dust, by saying, 'Return, children of Adam.' |
For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. | 4 A thousand years are to you like a yesterday which has passed, like a watch of the night. |
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up. | 5 You flood them with sleep -- in the morning they wil be like growing grass: |
In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth. | 6 in the morning it is blossoming and growing, by evening it is withered and dry. |
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. | 7 For we have been destroyed by your wrath, dismayed by your anger. |
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. | 8 You have taken note of our guilty deeds, our secrets in the ful light of your presence. |
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. | 9 Al our days pass under your wrath, our lives are over like a sigh. |
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. | 10 The span of our life is seventy years -- eighty for those who are strong -- but their whole extent isanxiety and trouble, they are over in a moment and we are gone. |
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. | 11 Who feels the power of your anger, or who that fears you, your wrath? |
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. | 12 Teach us to count up the days that are ours, and we shal come to the heart of wisdom. |
Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants. | 13 Come back, Yahweh! How long must we wait? Take pity on your servants. |
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. | 14 Each morning fill us with your faithful love, we shal sing and be happy all our days; |
Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. | 15 let our joy be as long as the time that you afflicted us, the years when we experienced disaster. |
Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children. | 16 Show your servants the deeds you do, let their children enjoy your splendour! |
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. | 17 May the sweetness of the Lord be upon us, to confirm the work we have done! |
