KING JAMES BIBLE | NEW AMERICAN BIBLE |
---|---|
The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! | 1 For the leader. A psalm of David. |
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. | 2 LORD, the king finds joy in your power; in your victory how greatly he rejoices! |
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. | 3 You have granted him his heart's desire; you did not refuse the prayer of his lips. Selah |
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever. | 4 For you welcomed him with goodly blessings; you placed on his head a crown of pure gold. |
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him. | 5 He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever. |
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance. | 6 Great is his glory in your victory; majesty and splendor you confer upon him. |
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. | 7 You make him the pattern of blessings forever, you gladden him with the joy of your presence. |
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. | 8 For the king trusts in the LORD, stands firm through the love of the Most High. |
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. | 9 Your hand will reach all your enemies; your right hand will reach your foes! |
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men. | 10 At the time of your coming you will drive them into a furnace. Then the LORD'S anger will consume them, devour them with fire. |
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform. | 11 Even their descendants you will wipe out from the earth, their offspring from the human race. |
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them. | 12 Though they intend evil against you, devising plots, they will not succeed, |
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power. | 13 For you will put them to flight; you will aim at them with your bow. |
Arise, LORD, in your power! We will sing and chant the praise of your might. |
