1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.	1 Cantico de' gradi. Se non che il Signore era in noi, ora dica Israel:
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.	2 se non che il Signore era in noi, Forse quando gli uomini si rizzaranno contro a noi,
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.	3 per avventura ci arebbono inghiottiti così vivi vivi. Quando si adirava il loro furore contra di noi,
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.	4 forse che l'acqua n'arebbe inghiottiti.
	5 L'anima nostra passò il torrente; forse l' anima nostra arebbe passata l'acqua intollerabile.
	6 Benedetto sia il Signore, che non ci ha dato nel pigliamento de' loro denti.
	7 L'anima nostra, come passera, è stata liberata dal laccio de' uccellatori: il laccio fu spezzato, e noi siamo liberati.
	8 Nel nome del Signore è l'aiuto nostro, il quale ha fatto il cielo e la terra.
