Deuxième livre des Rois 12

JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Joas avait sept ans à son avènement.	1 In the seventh year of Jehu Joas began to reign: and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Sebia of Bersabee.
2 En la septième année de Jéhu, Joas devint roi et il régna 40 ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelaitCibya et était de Bersabée.	2 And Joas did that which was right before the Lord all the days that Joiada the priest taught him.
3 Joas fit ce qui est agréable à Yahvé, pendant toute sa vie, car le prêtre Yehoyada l'avait instruit.	3 But yet he took not away the high places: for the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
4 Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas et le peuple continuait d'offrir sacrifices et encens surles hauts lieux.	4 And Joas said to the priests: O All the money of the sanctified things, which is brought into the temple of the Lord by those that pass, which is offered for the price of a soul, and which of their own accord, and of their own free heart they bring into the temple of the Lord:
5 Joas dit aux prêtres: "Tout l'argent des redevances sacrées qu'on apporte au Temple de Yahvé,l'argent des taxes personnelles et tout l'argent offert volontairement au Temple,	5 Let the priests take it according to their order, and repair the house, wheresoever they shall see any thing that wanteth repairing.
6 les prêtres le recevront chacun des gens de sa connaissance et ils feront au Temple toutes lesréparations qu'il y a à faire."	6 Now till the three and twentieth year of king Joas, the priests did not make the repairs of the temple.
7 Or, en la vingt-troisième année du roi Joas, les prêtres n'avaient pas réparé le Temple;	7 And king Joas called Joiada the high priest and the priests, saying to them: Why do you not repair the temple? Take you therefore money no more according to your order, but restore it for the repairing of the temple.
8 alors le roi Joas appela le prêtre Yehoyada et les prêtres et il leur dit: "Pourquoi ne réparez-vous pasle Temple? Il ne faut plus que vous receviez l'argent des gens de votre connaissance, vous le donnerez pour ledommage du Temple."	8 And the priests were forbidden to take any more money of the people, and to make the repairs of the house.
9 Les prêtres consentirent à ne pas accepter d'argent du peuple et à n'être plus chargés de réparer leTemple.	9 And Joiada the high priest took a chest and bored a hole in the top, and set it by the altar at the right hand of them that came into the house of the Lord, and the priests that kept the doors put therein all the money that was brought to the temple of the Lord.
10 Le prêtre Yehoyada prit un coffre, perça un trou dans son couvercle et le plaça à côté de la stèle, àdroite quand on entre dans le Temple de Yahvé, et les prêtres gardiens du seuil y déposaient tout l'argent livré auTemple de Yahvé.	10 And when they saw that there was very much money in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and poured it out, and counted the money that was found in the house of the Lord:
11 Quand ils voyaient qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent dans le coffre, le secrétaire royal montait, onfondait et on comptait l'argent qui se trouvait dans le Temple de Yahvé.	11 And they gave it out by number and measure into the hands of them that were over the builders of the house of the Lord: and they laid it out to the carpenters, and the masons that wrought in the house of the Lord,
12 Une fois l'argent éprouvé, on le remettait aux maîtres d'oeuvres attachés au Temple de Yahvé etceux-ci le dépensaient pour les charpentiers et les ouvriers du bâtiment qui travaillaient au Temple de Yahvé,	12 And made the repairs: and to them that cut stones, and to buy timber, and stones, to be hewed, that the repairs of the house of the Lord might be completely finished, and wheresoever there was need of expenses to uphold the house
13 pour les maçons et les tailleurs de pierres, et pour acheter le bois et les pierres de taille, destinés àla réparation du Temple de Yahvé, bref pour tous les frais de réparation du Temple.	13 But there were not made of the same money for the temple of the Lord, bowls, or fleshhooks, or censers, or trumpets, or any vessel of gold and silver, of the money that was brought into the temple of the Lord.
14 Mais on ne faisait dans le Temple de Yahvé ni bassins d'argent, ni couteaux, ni bols à aspersion, nitrompettes, ni aucun objet d'or ou d'argent avec l'argent qui y était livré,	14 For it was given to them that did the work, that the temple of the Lord might be repaired.
15 on le donnait aux maîtres d'oeuvres qui l'employaient à réparer le Temple de Yahvé.	15 And they reckoned not with the men that received the money to distribute it to the workmen, but they bestowed it faithfully.
16 On ne tenait pas de comptes avec les gens aux mains desquels on remettait l'argent pour le donneraux artisans, car ils agissaient avec probité.	16 But the money for trespass, and the money for sine, they brought not into the temple of the Lord, because it was for the priests.
17 Quant à l'argent versé pour la satisfaction d'un délit ou d'un péché, il n'était pas livré au Temple deYahvé, il était pour les prêtres.	17 Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Geth, and took it and set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
18 Alors Hazaël, roi d'Aram, partit en guerre contre Gat et la prit, puis il se disposa à monter contreJérusalem.	18 Wherefore Joas king of Juda took all the sanctified things, which Josaphat, and Joram, and Ochozias his fathers the kings of Juda had dedicated to holy uses, and which he himself had offered: and all the silver that could be found in the treasures of the temple of the Lord, and in the king's palace: and sent it to Hazael king of Syria, and he went off from Jerusalem.
19 Joas, roi de Juda, prit tout ce qu'avaient consacré les rois de Juda, ses pères, Josaphat, Joram etOchozias, ce qu'il avait consacré lui-même et tout l'or qu'on trouva dans les trésors du Temple de Yahvé et dupalais royal; il envoya le tout à Hazaël, roi d'Aram, et celui-ci s'éloigna de Jérusalem.	19 And the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?
20 Le reste de l'histoire de Joas et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda?	20 And his servants arose, and conspired among themselves, and slew Joas in the house of Mello in the descent of Sella.
21 Ses officiers se soulevèrent et ourdirent un complot; ils frappèrent Joas au Bet-Millo...	21 For Josachar the son of Semaath, and Jozabad the son of Somer his servant struck him, and he died: and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amasias his son reigned in his stead.
22 Ce furent Yozakar fils de Shiméat et Yehozabad fils de Shomer qui le frappèrent, et il mourut. Onl'enterra avec ses pères dans la Cité de David et son fils Amasias régna à sa place.
