Deuteronomy 29

DOUAI-RHEIMS	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab: beside that covenant which he made with them in Horeb.	1 Mosè convocò tutto Israele e disse loro: "Voi avete visto tutto ciò che il Signore fece sotto i vostri occhi nella terra d'Egitto contro il faraone, contro tutti i suoi servi e contro tutta la sua terra,
2 And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: You have seen all the things that the Lord did before you in the land of Egypt to Pharao, and to all his servants, and to his whole land.	2 le grandi prove che hanno visto i tuoi occhi, quei segni e prodigi grandiosi.
3 The great temptations, which thy eyes have seen, those mighty signs and wonders,	3 Ma fino ad oggi il Signore non vi ha dato cuore per capire, occhi per vedere, orecchie per sentire.
4 And the Lord hath not given you al heart to understand, and eyes to see, and ears that may hear, unto this present day.	4 Vi ho guidati per quarant'anni nel deserto: non si sono logorati i mantelli addosso a voi, i sandali non si sono logorati ai vostri piedi;
5 He hath brought you forty years through the desert: your garments are not worn out, neither are the shoes of your feet consumed with age.	5 non avete mangiato pane, né avete bevuto vino o bevanda inebriante, perché sappiate che io sono il Signore, vostro Dio.
6 You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or strong drink: that you might know that I am the Lord your God.	6 Siete arrivati in questo luogo: Sicon re di Chesbon e Og re di Basan ci sono usciti contro in battaglia, ma li abbiamo battuti;
7 And you came to this place: sand Sehon king of Hesebon, and Og king of Basan, came out against us to fight. And we slew them.	7 abbiamo preso la loro terra e l'abbiamo data in eredità ai Rubeniti, ai Gaditi e a metà della tribù dei Manassiti.
8 And took their land, and delivered it for a possession to h Ruben and Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses.	8 Osservate le parole di questa alleanza e mettetele in pratica, affinché abbiate successo in tutto ciò che fate.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and fulfil them: that you may understand all that you do.	9 Voi state oggi tutti al cospetto del Signore vostro Dio: i vostri capitribù, i vostri giudici, i vostri anziani, i vostri scribi, tutti gli uomini d'Israele,
10 You all stand this day before the Lord your God, your princes, and tribes, and ancients, and doctors, all the people of Israel,	10 i vostri fanciulli, le vostre donne e il forestiero che è in mezzo al tuo accampamento, da quello che taglia la tua legna a quello che attinge la tua acqua,
11 , 11Your children and your wives, and the stranger that abideth with thee in the camp, besides the hewers of wood, and them that bring water:	11 per entrare nell'alleanza del Signore tuo Dio e nel patto che il Signore tuo Dio stringe con te oggi,
12 That thou mayst pass in the covenant of the Lord thy God, and in the oath which this day the Lord thy God maketh with thee.	12 per costituirti oggi come suo popolo, e per essere egli Dio per te, come ti ha detto e come ha giurato ai tuoi padri, ad Abramo, a Isacco e a Giacobbe.
13 That he may raise thee up a people to himself, and he may be thy God as he hath spoken to thee, and as he swore to thy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.	13 Non con voi soltanto io sancisco questa alleanza e questo patto,
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant, and confirm these oaths,	14 ma tanto con chi sta qui con noi oggi al cospetto del Signore nostro Dio, quanto con chi non è qui con noi oggi.
15 But with all that are present and that are absent.	15 Perché voi sapete come abbiamo abitato nella terra d'Egitto e come siamo passati in mezzo alle nazioni che avete attraversato;
16 For you know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt, and how we have passed through the midst of nations, and passing through them,	16 avete visto le loro nefandezze e gl'idoli di legno e pietra, di argento e oro che sono presso di loro.
17 You have seen their abominations and filth, that is to say, their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which they worshipped.	17 Non vi sia tra voi uomo o donna, famiglia o tribù il cui cuore si allontani oggi dal Signore nostro Dio per andare a servire gli dèi di quelle nazioni. Non vi sia tra di voi nessuna radice che produca veleno e assenzio!
18 Lest perhaps there should be among you a man or a woman, a family or a tribe, whose heart is turned away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of those nations: and there should be among you a root bringing forth gall and bitterness.	18 Se, nell'ascoltare le parole di questo patto, qualcuno si benedice nel proprio cuore, dicendo: "Avrò pace anche camminando nella caparbietà del mio cuore, rendendo irriguo l'arido",
19 And when he shall hear the words of this oath, he should bless himself in his heart saying: I shall have peace, and will walk on in the naughtiness of my heart: and the drunken may consume the thirsty,	19 il Signore non acconsentirà a perdonarlo, ché anzi la collera e la gelosia del Signore si infiammeranno contro quell'uomo e tutte le imprecazioni scritte in questo libro scenderanno sopra di lui: il Signore cancellerà il suo nome sotto il cielo,
20 And the Lord should not forgive him: but his wrath and jealousy against that man should be exceedingly enkindled at that time, and all the curses that are written in this volume should light upon him: and the Lord should blot out his name from under heaven,	20 per sua sventura lo separerà da tutte le tribù d'Israele, secondo tutte le imprecazioni dell'alleanza scritta in questo libro della legge.
21 And utterly destroy him out of all the tribes of Israel, according to the curses that are contained in the book of this law and covenant:	21 La generazione futura, i vostri figli che sorgeranno dopo di voi e lo straniero che verrà da una terra lontana vedranno i flagelli di questa terra e le malattie che il Signore le infliggerà e diranno:
22 And the following generation shall say, and the children that shall be born hereafter, and the strangers that shall come from afar, seeing the plagues of that land and the evils wherewith the Lord hath afflicted it,	22 "Zolfo, sale, arsura è tutta la sua terra! Non sarà seminata, non darà alcun germoglio, su di essa non crescerà erba alcuna; è come la distruzione di Sodoma, Gomorra, Adma e Zeboim che il Signore distrusse nella sua ira e nel suo furore".
23 Burning it with brimstone, and the heat of salt, so that it cannot be sown any more, nor any green thing grow therein, after the example of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrha, Adama and Seboim, which the Lord destroyed in his wrath and indignation:	23 E tutte le nazioni diranno: "Perché il Signore ha fatto così a questa terra? Perché l'ardore di questa grande ira?".
24 And all the nations shall say: Why hath the Lord done thus to this land? what meaneth this exceeding great heat of his wrath?	24 E risponderanno: "Perché hanno abbandonato l'alleanza del Signore, Dio dei loro padri, che egli aveva stretto con loro quando uscirono dalla terra d'Egitto,
25 And they shall answer: Because they forsook the covenant of the Lord, which he made with their fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt:	25 e sono andati a servire altri dèi prostrandosi innanzi a loro: dèi che non avevano conosciuto e che non aveva dato loro in sorte;
26 And they have served strange gods, and adored them, whom they knew not, and for whom they had not been assigned:	26 allora si è infiammata la collera del Signore contro questa terra, così da farle venir sopra tutte le maledizioni scritte in questo libro.
27 Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this volume :	27 Il Signore li ha strappati dalla loro terra con collera, con furore e con grande indignazione e li ha gettati su un'altra terra, com'è fino ad oggi".
28 And he hath cast them out of their land, in anger and in wrath, and in very great indignation, and hath thrown them into a strange land, as it is seen this day.	28 Le cose occulte sono del Signore nostro Dio, ma le cose rivelate sono nostre e dei nostri figli per sempre, affinché mettiamo in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge.
29 Secret things to the Lord our God: things that are manifest, to us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
