DOUAI-RHEIMSGREEK BIBLE
And he began to speak to them in parables: A certain man planted a vineyard and made a hedge about it, and dug a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it to husbandmen; and went into a far country.1 Και ηρχισε να λεγη προς αυτους δια παραβολων?
And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant to receive of the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.2 Και εν τω καιρω των καρπων απεστειλε προς τους γεωργους δουλον, δια να λαβη παρα των γεωργων απο του καρπου του αμπελωνος.
Who having laid hands on him, beat him, and sent him away empty.3 Εκεινοι δε πιασαντες αυτον εδειραν και απεπεμψαν κενον.
And again he sent to them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and used him reproachfully.4 Και παλιν απεστειλε προς αυτους αλλον δουλον?
And again he sent another, and him they killed: and many others, of whom some they beat, and others they killed.5 Και παλιν απεστειλεν αλλον?
Therefore having yet one son, most dear to him; he also sent him unto them last of all, saying: They will reverence my son.6 Ετι λοιπον εχων ενα υιον, αγαπητον αυτου, απεστειλε και αυτον προς αυτους εσχατον, λεγων οτι θελουσιν εντραπη τον υιον μου.
But the husbandmen said one to another: This is the heir; come let us kill him; and the inheritance shall be ours.7 Εκεινοι δε οι γεωργοι ειπον προς αλληλους οτι ουτος ειναι ο κληρονομος?
And laying hold on him, they killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.8 Και πιασαντες αυτον εφονευσαν και ερριψαν εξω του αμπελωνος.
What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those husbandmen; and will give the vineyard to others.9 Τι λοιπον θελει καμει ο κυριος του αμπελωνος; Θελει ελθει και απολεσει τους γεωργους και θελει δωσει τον αμπελωνα εις αλλους.
And have you not read this scripture, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:10 Ουδε την γραφην ταυτην δεν ανεγνωσατε, Ο λιθος, τον οποιον απεδοκιμασαν οι οικοδομουντες, ουτος εγεινε κεφαλη γωνιας?
By the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes.11 παρα Κυριου εγεινεν αυτη και ειναι θαυμαστη εν οφθαλμοις ημων.
And they sought to lay hands on him, but they feared the people. For they knew that he spoke this parable to them. And leaving him, they went their way.12 Και εζητουν να πιασωσιν αυτον και εφοβηθησαν τον οχλον?
And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians; that they should catch him in his words.13 Και αποστελλουσι προς αυτον τινας των Φαρισαιων και των Ηρωδιανων, δια να παγιδευσωσιν αυτον εις λογον.
Who coming, say to him: Master, we know that thou art a true speaker, and carest not for any man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar; or shall we not give it?14 Και εκεινοι ελθοντες, λεγουσι προς αυτον? Διδασκαλε, εξευρομεν οτι εισαι αληθης και δεν σε μελει περι ουδενος? διοτι δεν βλεπεις εις προσωπον ανθρωπων, αλλ' επ' αληθειας την οδον του Θεου διδασκεις. Ειναι συγκεχωρημενον να δωσωμεν δασμον εις τον Καισαρα, η ουχι; να δωσωμεν η να μη δωσωμεν;
Who knowing their wiliness, saith to them: Why tempt you me? bring me a penny that I may see it.15 Ο δε γνωρισας την υποκρισιν αυτων, ειπε προς αυτους?
And they brought it him. And he saith to them: Whose is this image and inscription? They say to him, Caesar's.16 Και εκεινοι εφεραν.
And Jesus answering, said to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.17 Και αποκριθεις ο Ιησους ειπε προς αυτους?
And there came to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying:18 Και ερχονται προς αυτον Σαδδουκαιοι, οιτινες λεγουσιν οτι δεν ειναι αναστασις, και ηρωτησαν αυτον, λεγοντες?
Master, Moses wrote unto us, that if any man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.19 Διδασκαλε, ο Μωυσης μας εγραψεν οτι εαν αποθανη τινος ο αδελφος και αφηση γυναικα και τεκνα δεν αφηση, να λαβη ο αδελφος αυτου την γυναικα αυτου και να εξαναστηση σπερμα εις τον αδελφον αυτου.
Now there were seven brethren; and the first took a wife, and died leaving no issue.20 Ησαν λοιπον επτα αδελφοι.
And the second took her, and died: and neither did he leave any issue. And the third in like manner.21 και ελαβεν αυτην ο δευτερος και απεθανε, και ουδε αυτος αφηκε σπερμα?
And the seven all took her in like manner; and did not leave issue. Last of all the woman also died.22 Και ελαβον αυτην οι επτα, και δεν αφηκαν σπερμα.
In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise again, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.23 Εν τη αναστασει λοιπον, οταν αναστηθωσι, τινος αυτων θελει εισθαι γυνη; διοτι και οι επτα ελαβον αυτην γυναικα.
And Jesus answering, saith to them: Do ye not therefore err, because you know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?24 Και αποκριθεις ο Ιησους, ειπε προς αυτους? Δεν πλανασθε δια τουτο, μη γνωριζοντες τας γραφας μηδε την δυναμιν του Θεου;
For when they shall rise again from the dead, they shall neither marry, nor be married, but are as the angels in heaven.25 Διοτι οταν αναστηθωσιν εκ νεκρων ουτε νυμφευουσιν ουτε νυμφευονται, αλλ' ειναι ως αγγελοι οι εν τοις ουρανοις.
And as concerning the dead that they rise again, have you not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke to him, saying: I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?26 Περι δε των νεκρων οτι ανιστανται, δεν ανεγνωσατε εν τη βιβλω του Μωυσεως, πως ειπε προς αυτον ο Θεος επι της βατου, λεγων, Εγω ειμαι ο Θεος του Αβρααμ και ο Θεος του Ισαακ και ο Θεος του Ιακωβ;
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err.27 Δεν ειναι ο Θεος νεκρων, αλλα Θεος ζωντων?
And there came one of the scribes that had heard them reasoning together, and seeing that he had answered them well, asked him which was the first commandment of all.28 Και προσελθων εις των γραμματεων, οστις ηκουσεν αυτους συζητουντας, γνωριζων οτι καλως απεκριθη προς αυτους, ηρωτησεν αυτον? Ποια εντολη ειναι πρωτη πασων;
And Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is, Hear, O Israel: the Lord thy God is one God.29 Ο δε Ιησους απεκριθη προς αυτον οτι πρωτη πασων των εντολων ειναι?
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind, and with thy whole strength. This is the first commandment.30 και θελεις αγαπα Κυριον τον Θεον σου εξ ολης της καρδιας σου, και εξ ολης της ψυχης σου, και εξ ολης της διανοιας σου, και εξ ολης της δυναμεως σου?
And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.31 Και δευτερα ομοια, αυτη?
And the scribe said to him: Well, Master, thou hast said in truth, that there is one God, and there is no other besides him.32 Και ειπε προς αυτον ο γραμματευς?
And that he should be loved with the whole heart, and with the whole understanding, and with the whole soul, and with the whole strength; and to love one's neighbour as one's self, is a greater thing than all holocausts and sacrifices.33 και το να αγαπα τις αυτον εξ ολης της καρδιας και εξ ολης της συνεσεως και εξ ολης της ψυχης και εξ ολης της δυναμεως, και το να αγαπα τον πλησιον ως εαυτον, ειναι πλειοτερον παντων των ολοκαυτωματων και των θυσιων.
And Jesus seeing that he had answered wisely, said to him: Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.34 Και ο Ιησους, ιδων αυτον οτι φρονιμως απεκριθη, ειπε προς αυτον?
And Jesus answering, said, teaching in the temple: How do the scribes say, that Christ is the son of David?35 Και αποκριθεις ο Ιησους, ελεγε διδασκων εν τω ιερω? Πως λεγουσιν οι γραμματεις οτι ο Χριστος ειναι υιος του Δαβιδ;
For David himself saith by the Holy Ghost: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool.36 Διοτι αυτος ο Δαβιδ ειπε δια του Πνευματος του Αγιου?
David therefore himself calleth him Lord, and whence is he then his son? And a great multitude heard him gladly.37 Αυτος λοιπον ο Δαβιδ λεγει αυτον Κυριον?
And he said to them in his doctrine: Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and to be saluted in the marketplace,38 Και ελεγε προς αυτους εν τη διδαχη αυτου?
And to sit in the first chairs, in the synagogues, and to have the highest places at suppers:39 και πρωτοκαθεδριας εν ταις συναγωγαις και τους πρωτους τοπους εν τοις δειπνοις.
Who devour the houses of widows under the pretence of long prayer: these shall receive greater judgment.40 Οιτινες κατατρωγουσι τας οικιας των χηρων, και τουτο επι προφασει οτι καμνουσι μακρας προσευχας?
And Jesus sitting over against the treasury, beheld how the people cast money into the treasury, and many that were rich cast in much.41 Και καθησας ο Ιησους απεναντι του γαζοφυλακιου, εθεωρει πως ο οχλος εβαλλε χαλκον εις το γαζοφυλακιον.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she cast in two mites, which make a farthing.42 και ελθουσα μια χηρα πτωχη εβαλε δυο λεπτα, τουτεστιν, ενα κοδραντην.
And calling his disciples together, he saith to them: Amen I say to you, this poor widow hath cast in more than all they who have cast into the treasury.43 Και προσκαλεσας τους μαθητας αυτου, λεγει προς αυτους?
For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want cast in all she had, even her whole living.44 διοτι παντες εκ του περισσευοντος εις αυτους εβαλον?
