Jeremiah 25

DOUAI-RHEIMS	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word that came to Jeremias concerning all the people of Juda, in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, (the same is the first year of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon,)	1 Palabra que llegó a Jeremías acerca de todo el pueblo de Judá, el cuarto año de Joaquím, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, es decir, el primer año de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia.
2 Which Jeremias the prophet spoke to all the people of Juda, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:	2 Esto es lo que dijo el profeta Jeremías acerca de todo el pueblo de Judá y de todos los habitantes de Jerusalén:
3 From the thirteenth year of Josias the son of Ammon king of Juda until this day: this is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising before day, and speaking, and you have not hearkened.	3 Desde el año trece de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, hasta el día de hoy –son ya veintitrés años– me ha llegado la palabra del Señor, y yo les he hablado incansablemente, sin que ustedes me escucharan.
4 And the Lord hath sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early, and sending, and you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ears to hear.	4 También el Señor les ha enviado incansablemente a todos sus servidores los profetas, pero ustedes no han escuchado ni han inclinado sus oídos para oír.
5 When he said: Return ye, every one from his evil way, and from your wicked devices, and you shall dwell in the land which the Lord hath given to you, and your fathers for ever and ever.	5 El les decía: Vuélvanse cada uno de su mal camino y de la maldad de sus acciones, y habitarán en el suelo que les ha dado el Señor, a ustedes y a sus padres, desde siempre y para siempre.
6 And go not after strange gods to serve them, and adore them: nor provoke me to wrath by the works of your hands, and I will not afflict you.	6 No vayan detrás de otros dioses para servirlos y para postrarse delante de ellos, no me agravien con la obra de sus manos, y no les haré ningún mal.
7 And you have not heard me, saith the Lord, that you might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, to your own hurt.	7 Pero ustedes no me escucharon –oráculo del Señor– agraviándome con la obra de sus manos, para su propia desgracia.
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts: Because you have not heard my words:	8 Por eso, así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Porque ustedes no han escuchado mis palabras,
9 Behold I will send, and take all the kindreds of the north, saith the Lord, and Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon my servant: and I will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all the nations that are round about it: and I will destroy them, and make them an astonishment and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.	9 yo mando a buscar todos los clanes del Norte –oráculo del Señor– y a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, mi servidor, y los hago venir contra este país, contra sus habitantes y contra todas estas naciones de alrededor. Así los consagraré al exterminio total, y los convertiré en una desolación, en un motivo de estupor y en ruinas perpetuas.
10 And I will take away from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the mill, and the light of the lamp.	10 Haré desaparecer de entre ellos el grito de alegría y el grito de júbilo, el canto del esposo y el canto de la esposa, el ruido del molino y la luz de la lámpara.
11 And all this land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment: and all these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.	11 Todo este país será una ruina y una devastación, y esas naciones servirán al rey de Babilonia durante setenta años.
12 And when the seventy years shall be expired, I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans: and I will make it perpetual desolations.	12 Pero cuando hayan pasado los setenta años, yo castigaré por su iniquidad al rey de Babilonia y a aquella nación –oráculo del Señor– así como también al país de los caldeos, y los convertiré en desolaciones perpetuas.
13 And I will bring upon the land all my words, that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book, all that Jeremias hath prophesied against all nations:	13 Yo haré venir sobre ese país todas las palabras que pronuncié contra él, todo lo que está escrito en este libro. Esto es lo que profetizó Jeremías contra todas las naciones.
14 For they have served them, whereas they were many nations, and great kings: and I will repay them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their hands.	14 Porque también a ellas las someterán naciones poderosas y grandes reyes, y yo les retribuiré según su conducta y según la obra de sus manos.
15 For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Take the cup of wine of this fury at my hand: and thou shalt make all nations to drink thereof, unto which I shall send thee.	15 Porque así me ha hablado el Señor, Dios de Israel: «Toma de mi mano esta copa de vino del furor, y dásela de beber a todas las naciones a las que yo te envío;
16 And they shall drink, and be troubled, and be mad because of the sword, which I shall send among them.	16 ellas la beberán, se marearán y se enloquecerán, a causa de la espada que envío en medio de ellas».
17 And I took the cup at the hand of the Lord, and I presented it to all the nations to drink of it, to which the Lord sent me:	17 Yo tomé la copa de la mano del Señor y se la hice beber a todas las naciones a las que me había enviado el Señor :
18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Juda, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof: to make them a desolation, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a curse, as it is at this day.	18 a Jerusalén y a las ciudades de Judá, a sus reyes y a sus príncipes, para convertirlos en una ruina, una devastación, como sucede en el día de hoy;
19 Pharao the king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people,	19 al Faraón, rey de Egipto, a sus servidores, a sus príncipes y a todo su pueblo;
20 And all in general: all the kings of the land of Ausitis, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ascalon, and Gaza, and Accaron, and the remnant of Azotus.	20 a toda la mezcla de pueblos, a todos los reyes del país de Us; a todos los reyes del país de los filisteos: a Ascalón, Gaza, Ecrón y el resto de Asdod;
21 And Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon.	21 a Edom, Moab y los amonitas;
22 And all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon: and the kings of the land of the islands that are beyond the sea.	22 a todos los reyes de Tiro, a todos los reyes de Sidón, a los reyes de las costas lejanas que están más allá del mar;
23 And Dedan, and Thema, and Buz, and all that have their hair cut round.	23 a Dedán, Temá y Buz; a todos los «Sienes rapadas:;
24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the west, that dwell in the desert.	24 a todos los reyes de Arabia que habitan en el desierto;
25 And all the kings of Zambri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Medes:	25 a todos los reyes de Zimrí, a todos los reyes de Elam, a todos los reyes de Media;
26 And all the kings of the north far and near, every one against his brother: and all the kingdoms of the earth, which are upon the face thereof: and the king of Sesac shall drink after them.	26 a todos los reyes del Norte, próximos y lejanos, uno después del otro: o sea, a todos los reyes de la tierra que están sobre la superficie del suelo. Y el rey de Sesac beberá después de ellos.
27 And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Dring ye, and be drunken, and vomit: and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword, which I shall send among you.	27 Tú les dirás: Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: ¡Beban hasta embriagarse, vomiten y caigan para no levantarse más, delante de la espada que yo envío en medio de ustedes!
28 And if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Drinking you shall drink:	28 Y si ellos se niegan a tomar de tu mano la copa para beber, tú les dirás: Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: ¡Tendrán que beber!
29 For behold I begin to bring evil on the city wherein my name is called upon: and shall you be as innocent and escape free? you shall not escape free: for I will call for the sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.	29 Porque si yo inflijo un castigo, comenzando por la ciudad que es llamada con mi Nombre, ustedes, ¿van a quedar impunes? No, no quedarán impunes, porque yo llamo a la espada contra todos los habitantes de la tierra –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos–.
30 And thou shalt prophesy unto them all these words, and thou shalt say to them: The Lord shall roar from on high, and shall utter his voice from his holy habitation: roaring he shall roar upon the place of his beauty: the shout as it were of them that tread grapes shall be given out against all the inhabitants of the earth.	30 En cuanto a ti, profetiza contra ellos todas estas palabras. Tú les dirás: El Señor ruge desde lo alto, desde su santa morada alza su voz; ruge con furia contra su redil, lanza un grito como los que pisan la uva contra todos los habitantes de la tierra.
31 The noise is come even to the ends of the earth: for the Lord entereth into judgement with the nations: he entereth into judgement with all flesh; the wicked I have delivered up to the sword, saith the Lord.	31 Llega el estruendo hasta el confín de la tierra, porque el Señor está en pleito con las naciones, entabla juicio a todo ser viviente, y a los malvados los entrega a la espada –oráculo del Señor–.
32 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold evil shall go forth from nation to nation: and a great whirlwind shall go forth from the ends of the earth.	32 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Miren cómo pasa la desgracia de nación en nación; se desata una gran tempestad desde los extremos de la tierra.
33 And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end thereof: they shall not be lamented, and they shall not be gathered up, nor buried: they shall lie as dung upon the face of the earth.	33 Habrá víctimas del Señor, en aquel día, desde un extremo a otro de la tierra; no serán lloradas ni recogidas ni enterradas: se convertirán en estiércol sobre la superficie del suelo.
34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry: and sprinkle yourselves with ashes, ye leaders of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and your dispersion are accomplished, and you shall fall like precious vessels.	34 ¡Giman, pastores y griten, revuélquense en el polvo, encargados del rebaño! Porque les ha llegado el día de la matanza y caerán como carneros escogidos.
35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the leaders of the flock to save themselves.	35 ¡No hay asilo para los pastores, no escaparán los encargados del rebaño!
36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the principal of the flock: because the Lord hath watsed their pastures.	36 ¡Escuchen el clamor de los pastores, el gemido de los encargados del rebaño, porque el Señor devasta sus pastizales,
37 And the fields of peace have been silent, because of the fierce anger of the Lord.	37 sus prósperas praderas son destruidas, ante el ardor de la ira del Señor!
38 He has forsaken his covert as the lion, for the land is laid waste because of the wrath of the dove, and because of the fierce anger of the Lord.	38 Un cachorro de león abandona su guarida: sí, el país es una devastación, a causa de la espada arrasadora, a causa del ardor de su ira.
