1 Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the sons of Core, for understanding. A canticle for the Beloved.	1 Au maître de chant. Sur l’air “les lys…”. Des fils de Coré. Méditation. Chant.
2 My heart hath uttered a good word I speak my works to the king; My tongue is the pen of a scrivener that writeth swiftly.	2 Tout mon esprit s’affaire pour une noble tâche, je vais dire mes poèmes au roi. Habile écrivain, j’aurai pour plume ma langue.
3 Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in thy lips; therefore hath God blessed thee for ever	3 Tu es le plus beau de la race d’Adam, la grâce est répandue sur tes lèvres, Dieu t’a donné la bénédiction à jamais.!
4 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O thou most mighty.	4 Revêts-toi d’honneur et de gloire, qu’ils soient pour toi comme l’épée à ton côté.
5 With thy comeliness and thy beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Because of truth and meekness and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.	5 Bondis, chevauche, pour la cause de la vérité, pour la miséricorde et la justice. L’arme à la main tu fais des prodiges.
6 Thy arrows are sharp: under thee shall people fall, into the hearts of the king's enemies.	6 Tes flèches sont pénétrantes, des peuples tombent sous tes pas, les ennemis du roi perdent cœur.
7 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness.	7 Ton trône, ô Dieu, est ferme pour toujours, ton sceptre royal est un sceptre de droiture.
8 Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.	8 Tu aimes la justice, tu détestes le mal, aussi Dieu, ton Dieu, t’a donné l’onction et l’huile de la joie plutôt qu’à tes compagnons.
9 Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: out of which	9 La myrrhe, l’aloès et la casse imprègnent tes vêtements, tu t’égayes au son des harpes en tes palais d’ivoire.
10 the daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory. The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; surrounded with variety.	10 Des filles de roi sont au nombre de tes aimées, une reine à ta droite est parée d’un or rare.
11 Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father's house.	11 Écoute, fille, regarde et prête l’oreille: oublie ton peuple et la maison de ton père;
12 And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.	12 alors le roi sera épris de ta beauté. Sache qu’il est ton Seigneur:
13 And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.	13 les puissants de Tyr se courberont devant lui. Voici les riches du pays venus te rendre hommage.
14 All the glory of the king's daughter is within in golden borders,	14 La fille du roi est conduite à l’intérieur, ses vêtements rehaussés d’or;
15 clothed round about with varieties. After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbours shall be brought to thee.	15 en ses broderies, elle est amenée au roi. Des vierges, ses compagnes, la suivent, elles sont introduites auprès de toi.
16 They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the king.	16 On les amène dans la joie et la fête, elles sont introduites dans le palais du roi.
17 Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.	17 Pour remplacer tes pères tu auras des fils, tu en feras des princes par toute la terre.
18 They shall remember thy name throughout all generations. Therefore shall people praise thee for ever; yea, for ever and ever.	18 Je veux que grâce à moi ton nom vive d’âge en âge et que les peuples te louent à jamais.
