Psalms 43

DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 A psalm for David. Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy : deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.1 Grant me justice, God; defend me from a faithless people; from the deceitful and unjust rescue me.
2 For thou art God my strength : why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?2 You, God, are my strength. Why then do you spurn me? Why must I go about mourning, with the enemy oppressing me?
3 Send forth thy light and thy truth : they have conducted me, and brought me unto thy holy hill, and into thy tabernacles.3 Send your light and fidelity, that they may be my guide And bring me to your holy mountain, to the place of your dwelling,
4 And I will go in to the altar of God : to God who giveth joy to my youth.4 That I may come to the altar of God, to God, my joy, my delight. Then I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God.
5 To thee, O God my God, I will give praise upon the harp : why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?5 Why are you downcast, my soul? Why do you groan within me? Wait for God, whom I shall praise again, my savior and my God.
6 Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God.
