1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 O Senhor disse a Moisés:
2 Sanctify unto me every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, as well of men as of beasts: for they are all mine.	2 "Consagrar-me-ás todo primogênito entre os israelitas, tanto homem como animal: ele será meu."
3 And Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you came forth out of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought you forth out of this place: that you eat no leavened bread.	3 Moisés disse ao povo: "Conservareis a memória deste dia, em que saístes do Egito, da casa da servidão, porque foi pelo poder de sua mão que o Senhor vos fez sair deste lugar; não comereis pão fermentado.
4 This day you go forth in the month of new corn.	4 Vós saís hoje do Egito, no mês das espigas.
5 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Amorrhite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to thy fathers that he would give thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey, thou shalt celebrate this manner of sacred rites in this month.	5 Assim, pois, quando o Senhor te houver introduzido na terra dos cananeus, dos hiteus, dos amorreus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus, que jurou a teus pais te dar, terra que mana leite e mel, observarás este rito neste mesmo mês.
6 Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be the solemnity of the Lord.	6 Durante sete dias comerás pães sem fermento, e no sétimo dia haverá uma festa em honra do Senhor.
7 Unleavened bread shall you eat seven days: there shall not be seen any thing leavened with thee, nor in all thy coasts.	7 Comer-se-ão pães sem fermento durante sete dias. Não se verão em tua casa, em toda a extensão do território, nem pães fermentados nem fermento.
8 And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying: This is what the Lord did to me when I came forth out of Egypt.	8 Explicarás então a teu filho: isso é em memória do que o Senhor fez por mim, quando saí do Egito.
9 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a memorial before thy eyes: and that the law of the Lord be always in thy mouth, for with a strong hand the Lord hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt.	9 Será isso para ti como um sinal sobre tua mão, como uma marca entre os teus olhos, a fim de que tenhas na boca a lei do Senhor, porque foi graças à sua poderosa mão que o Senhor te fez sair do Egito.
10 Thou shalt keep this observance at the set time from days to days.	10 Observarás a cada ano essa prescrição no tempo prescrito.
11 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, as he swore to thee and thy fathers, and shall give it thee:	11 "Quando o Senhor te houver introduzido na terra dos cananeus, como ele jurou a ti e a teus pais, e te houver dado essa terra,
12 Thou shalt set apart all that openeth the womb for the Lord, and all that is first brought forth of thy cattle: whatsoever thou shalt have of the male sex, thou shalt consecrate to the Lord.	12 consagrarás ao Senhor todo primogênito; mesmo os primogênitos de teus animais, os machos, serão do Senhor.
13 The firstborn of an ass thou shalt change for a sheep: and if thou do not redeem it, thou shalt kill it. And every firstborn of men thou shalt redeem with a price.	13 Entretanto, resgatarás com um cordeiro todo primogênito do jumento; do contrário, quebrar-lhe-ás a nuca. Todo primogênito dos homens entre teus filhos, resgatá-lo-ás igualmente.
14 And when thy son shall ask thee to morrow, saying: What is this? thou shalt answer him: With a strong hand did the Lord bring us forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.	14 E, quando teu filho te perguntar um dia o que isso significa, dir-lhe-ás: é que o Senhor nos tirou do Egito com sua mão poderosa, da casa da servidão.
15 For when Pharao was hardened, and would not let us go, the Lord slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beasts: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the womb of the male sex, and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.	15 E, como o faraó se obstinasse em não nos deixar partir, o Senhor matou todos os primogênitos do Egito, desde os primogênitos dos homens até os dos animais. Eis por que sacrifico ao Senhor todos os primogênitos machos dos animais, e devo resgatar todo primogênito entre meus filhos.
16 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a thing hung between thy eyes, for a remembrance: because the Lord hath brought us forth out of Egypt by a strong hand.	16 Isso será como um sinal sobre tua mão e como uma marca entre teus olhos, porque foi pelo poder de sua mão que o Senhor nos tirou do Egito".
17 And when Pharao had sent out the people, the Lord led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines which is near: thinking lest perhaps they would repent, if they should see wars arise against them, and would return into Egypt.	17 Tendo o faraó deixado partir o povo, Deus não o conduziu pelo caminho da terra dos filisteus, que é, no entanto, o mais curto, pois disse: "Talvez o povo possa arrepender-se, no momento em que tiver de enfrentar um combate e voltar para o Egito".
18 But he led them about by the way of the desert, which is by the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.	18 Por isso, Deus fez com que o povo desse uma volta pelo deserto, para o lado do mar Vermelho. Os israelitas partiram do Egito em boa ordem.
19 And Moses took Joseph's bones with him: because he had adjured the children of Israel, saying: God shall visit you, carry out my bones from hence with you.	19 Moisés levou consigo os ossos de José, porque este fizera os filhos de Israel jurarem: "Quando Deus vos visitar, levareis daqui os meus ossos convosco".
20 And marching from Socoth they encamped in Etham in the utmost coasts of the wilderness.	20 Tendo partido de Socot, acamparam em Etão, na extremidade do deserto.
21 And the Lord went before them to shew the way by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire: that he might be the guide of their journey at both times.	21 O Senhor ia adiante deles: de dia numa coluna de nuvens para guiá-los pelo caminho; e de noite numa coluna de fogo para alumiá-los; de sorte que podiam marchar de dia e de noite.
22 There never failed the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, before the people.	22 Nunca a coluna de nuvens deixou de preceder o povo durante o dia, nem a coluna de fogo durante a noite.
