1 And when the kingdom of Roboam was strengthened and fortified, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.	1 Ed essendo fortificato il regno di Roboam e confortato, abbandonò la legge del Signore, e tutto Israel con esso lui.
2 And in the fifth year of the reign of Roboam, Sesac king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem (because they had sinned against the Lord)	2 Nel quinto anno del regno di Roboam ascendè Sesac re d'Egitto in Ierusalem; però che aveano peccato al Signore;
3 With twelve hundred chariots and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt, to wit, Libyans, and Troglodites, and Ethiopians.	3 con mille ducento carra, e con LX migliara di cavalieri; e del popolo, il quale era andato con lui d' Egitto, non era numero, cioè gente di Libia e Trogloditi e di Etiopia.
4 And he took the strongest cities in Juda, and came to Jerusalem.	4 E prese le città fortissime in Giuda, e vènnessene insino in Ierusalem.
5 And Semeias the prophet came to Roboam, and to the princes of Juda, that were gathered together in Jerusalem, fleeing from Sesac, and he said to them : Thus saith the Lord: You have left me, and I have left you in the hand of Sesac.	5 E Semeia profeta entrò a Roboam e a' prìncipi di Giuda, i quali erano congregati in Ierusalem, fuggendo Sesac, e disse loro: questo dice il Signore : voi avete lasciato me, e io hoe lasciato voi nelle mani di Sesac.
6 And the princes of Israel, and the king, being in a consternation, said: The Lord is just.	6 E isbigottiti il re e i principi, dissero: il Signore è giusto.
7 And when the Lord saw that they were humbled, the word of the Lord came to Semeias, saying: Because they are humbled, I will not destroy them, and I will give them a little help, and my wrath shall not fall upon Jerusalem by the hand of Sesac.	7 E veggendo il Signore ch' erano umiliati, fu fatta la parola di Dio a Semeia (profeta), e disse: però ch' egli sono umiliati, non gli dissiperò, ma darò loro uno poco d' aiuto, e non istillarò il mio furore sopra Ierusalem per mano di Sesac.
8 But yet they shall serve him, that they may know the difference between my service, and the service of a kingdom of the earth.	8 Ma pure serviranno a lui, acciò che sappiano la distanza di servire a me e (a lui, ovvero) a' regni delle terre.
9 So Sesac king of Egypt departed from Jerusalem, taking away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the king's house, and he took all with him, and the golden shields that Solomon had made,	9 E partissi Sesac di Ierusalem, portandosi il tesoro della casa di Dio e della casa del re; e portò seco tutti li scudi dell' auro, i quali avea fatti Salomone.
10 Instead of which the king made brazen ones, and delivered them to the captains of the shieldbearers, who guarded the entrance of the palace.	10 Per li quali fece il re iscudi d'acciaio, e diedegli a principi degli scudieri, i quali guardavano il vestibolo del palazzo.
11 And when the king entered into the house of the Lord, the shieldbearers came and took them, and brought them back again to their armoury.	11 E quando il re entrava nella casa del Signore, andavano i scudieri e toglievangli, e poi gli portavano all' armamentario suo.
12 But yet because they were humbled, the wrath of the Lord turned away from them, and they were not utterly destroyed: for even in Juda there were found good works.	12 Ma però che loro si umiliarono, l' ira del Signore cessoe, e non furono in tutto disfatti; però che in Giuda si ritrovarono buone operazioni.
13 King Roboam therefore was strengthened in Jerusalem, and reigned: he was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to establish his name there: and the name of his mother was Naama an Ammonitess.	13 E fortificossi il re Roboam in Ierusalem e regnò; e quando incominciò a regnare era di XLI anno, e XVII anni regnò in Ierusalem, città la quale elesse il Signore a confermare il suo nome ivi, di tutte le tribù d' Israel. Il nome della sua madre fu Naama di Amman.
14 But he did evil, and did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.	14 E fece male, e non apparecchioe il suo cuore a domandare il Signore.
15 Now the acts of Roboam first and last are written in the books of Semeias the prophet, and of Addo the seer, and diligently recorded: and there was war between Roboam and Jeroboam all their days.	15 E l'opere di Roboam, prime e ultime, sono scritte nelli libri di Semeia profeta, e di Addo vidente, e ivi sono esposte diligentemente; e combatterono tra loro Roboam e Ieroboam continuamente.
16 And Roboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. And Abia his son reigned in his stead.	16 E dormi Roboam co' padri suoi, e fu seppellito nella città di David. E regnò Abia suo figliuolo per lui.
