1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and with all the commanders.	1 Davide tenne consiglio con i capi di migliaia e di centinaia, con tutti i prìncipi.
2 And he said to all the assembly of Israel: If it please you; and if the words which I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the rest of our brethren into all the countries of Israel, and to the priests, and the Levites, that dwell in the suburbs of the cities, to gather themselves to us,	2 A tutta l'assemblea d'Israele Davide disse: "Se vi sembra bene e se il Signore nostro Dio lo consente, comunichiamo ai nostri fratelli, che sono rimasti in tutte le regioni d'Israele, e con loro anche ai sacerdoti e ai leviti nelle città della loro residenza, di radunarsi presso di noi.
3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought it not in the days of Saul.	3 Allora riporteremo l'arca del nostro Dio presso di noi, perché non ce ne siamo curati sin dal tempo di Saul".
4 And all the multitude answered that it should be so: for the word pleased all the people.	4 Tutta l'assemblea approvò di fare così, perché la proposta parve giusta agli occhi di tutto il popolo.
5 So David assembled all Israel from Sihor of Egypt, even to the entering into Emath, to bring the ark of God from Cariathiarim.	5 Davide convocò tutto Israele da Sicor d'Egitto fino all'ingresso di Amat per riportare l'arca di Dio da Kiriat-Iearìm.
6 And David went up with all the men of Israel to the hill of Cariathiarim which is in Juda, to bring thence the ark of the Lord God sitting upon the cherubims, where his name is called upon.	6 Davide con tutto Israele salì a Baala verso Kiriat-Iearìm che apparteneva a Giuda, per prendere di là l'arca di Dio che portava il nome: "Il Signore che siede sui cherubini".
7 And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart, out of the house of Abinadab. And Oza and his brother drove the cart.	7 Dalla casa di Abinadàb trasportarono l'arca di Dio su un carro nuovo. Uzza e Achio guidavano il carro.
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might with hymns, and with harps, and with psalteries, and timbrels, and cymbals, and trumpets,	8 Davide e tutto Israele danzavano davanti a Dio con tutto l'entusiasmo cantando e suonando cetre, arpe, tamburi, cembali e trombe.
9 And when they came to the floor of Chidon, Oza put forth his hand, to hold up the ark: for the ox being wanton had made it lean a little on one side.	9 Giunti all'aia di Chidon, Uzza stese la sua mano per trattenere l'arca, perché i buoi l'avevano fatta barcollare.
10 And the Lord was angry with Oza, and struck him, because he had touched the ark; and he died there before the Lord.	10 Allora l'ira del Signore s'infiammò contro Uzza e lo colpì, perché aveva steso la sua mano sull'arca. Egli morì lì, al cospetto di Dio.
11 And David was troubled because the Lord had divided Oza: and he called that place the Breach of Oza to this day.	11 Davide si afflisse perché il Signore si era irritato contro Uzza e chiamò quel luogo Perez-Uzza, fino al giorno d'oggi.
12 And he feared God at that time, saying: How can I bring in the ark of God to me?	12 In quel giorno Davide, avendo avuto paura di Dio, esclamò: "Come potrei far condurre presso di me l'arca di Dio?".
13 And therefore he brought it not home to himself, that is, into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gethite.	13 Davide non fece trasportare l'arca presso di sé nella Città di Davide, ma la diresse verso la casa di Obed-Edom, di Gat.
14 And the ark of God remained in the house of Obededom three months: and the Lord blessed his house, and all that he had.	14 L'arca di Dio rimase nella casa di Obed-Edom tre mesi. Il Signore benedisse la casa di Obed-Edom e tutto quello che gli apparteneva.
