1 And Israel taking his journey, with all that he had, came to the well of the oath, and killing victims there to the God of his father Isaac,	1 - Partito Israele con tutto quello che aveva, venne al "Pozzo del giuramento"; ivi, offerte vittime al Dio del padre suo Isacco,
2 He heard him by a vision in the night calling him, and saying to him: Jacob, Jacob. And he answered him: Lo, here I am.	2 lo udì in una visione notturna, che lo chiamava e gli diceva: «Giacobbe, Giacobbe!». Al quale rispose: «Eccomi».
3 God said to him: I am the most mighty God of thy father: fear not, go down into Egypt, for I will make a great nation of thee there.	3 E Dio gli disse: «Io sono il Dio fortissimo del padre tuo; non temere, va' pure in Egitto, che ivi farò uscire da te un gran popolo.
4 I will go down with thee thither, and will bring thee back again from thence: Joseph also shall put his hands upon thy eyes.	4 Io ti accompagnerò là, e di là ti riaccompagnerò, e Giuseppe con le sue mani ti chiuderà gli occhi».
5 And Jacob rose up from the well of the oath: and his sons took him up, with their children and wives in the wagons, which Pharao had sent to carry the old man,	5 Si mosse dunque Giacobbe dal "Pozzo del giuramento", ed i suoi figli lo posero coi bambini e con le mogli sui carri mandati dal Faraone per trasportare il vecchio
6 And all that he had in the land of Chanaan, and he came into Egypt with all his seed:	6 e tutte le sostanze che aveva nella terra di Canaan. E giunse in Egitto con tutta la sua figliolanza,
7 His sons, and grandsons, daughters, and all his offspring together.	7 figli e nipoti e figlie, e tutta la sua discendenza.
8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, that entered into Egypt, he and his children. His firstborn Ruben,	8 Ecco ora i nomi dei figli di Israele che entrarono in Egitto, quando vi entrò co' figli suoi. Il primogenito, Ruben.

27 And the sons of Joseph, that were born to him in the land of Egypt, two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, that entered into Egypt, were seventy.	27 I figli di Giuseppe, natigli in Egitto, altre due persone. Le persone della casa di Giacobbe che entrarono in Egitto furono, in tutto, settanta.
28 And he sent Juda before him to Joseph, to tell him; and that he should meet him in Gessen.	28 Ora Giacobbe mandò avanti a sè Giuda a Giuseppe, ad avvisarlo, perchè gli venisse incontro in Gessen.
29 And when he was come thither, Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet his father, in the same place: and seeing him, he fell upon his neck, and embracing him wept.	29 Giunto che vi fu, Giuseppe fece attaccare il suo cocchio, e salì incontro al padre nello stesso luogo. Vistolo, gli si buttò al collo, e tra gli abbracci piangeva.
30 And the father said to Joseph: Now shall I die with joy, because I have seen thy face, and leave thee alive.	30 Disse il padre a Giuseppe: «Ora morirò contento, perchè ho potuto rivederti, e ti lascio in vita dietro a me».
31 And Joseph said to his brethren, and to all his father's house: I will go up, and will tell Pharao, and will say to him: My brethren and my father's house, that were in the land of Chanaan, are come to me:	31 Ed egli disse ai fratelli, ed a tutta la casa del padre suo: «Andrò, e racconterò al Faraone, e gli dirò: - I miei fratelli e la famiglia del padre mio, che erano nella terra di Canaan, son venuti a me;
32 And the men are shepherds, and their occupation is to feed cattle: their flocks and herds, and all they have, they have brought with them.	32 son pastori di pecore, e s'occupavano di pascere i greggi; hanno portato con sè gli animali loro e gli armenti, e tutto quel che potevano avere. -
33 And when he shall call you, and shall say: What is your occupation?	33 Quando poi vi chiamerà, e vi domanderà qual è il vostro mestiere,
34 You shall answer: We thy servants are shepherds, from our infancy until now, both we and our fathers. And this you shall say, that you may dwell in the land of Gessen, because the Egyptians have all shepherds in abomination.	34 risponderete: - Noi tuoi servi siamo pastori, dalla nostra fanciullezza sino ad oggi, noi ed i padri nostri. - Così direte, acciò possiate rimanere nella terra di Gessen; perchè gli Egiziani detestano tutti i pastori di greggi».
