| 1 Ed egli, entrato nella navicella, passò all’altra riva, e venne nella sua città. | 1 And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. |
| 2 ED ecco, gli fu presentato un paralitico che giaceva in letto. E Gesù, veduta la fede loro, disse al paralitico: Figliuolo, sta’ di buon cuore, i tuoi peccati ti son rimessi. | 2 And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." |
| 3 Ed ecco, alcuni degli Scribi dicevano fra sè stessi: Costui bestemmia. | 3 And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." |
| 4 E Gesù, veduti i lor pensieri, disse: Perchè pensate voi cose malvage ne’ vostri cuori? | 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? |
| 5 Perciocchè, quale è più agevole, dire: I tuoi peccati ti son rimessi, ovver dire: Levati, e cammina? | 5 For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk? |
| 6 Ora, acciocchè voi sappiate che il Figliuol dell’uomo ha autorità in terra di rimettere i peccati: Tu, levati disse egli allora al paralitico, togli il tuo letto, e vattene a casa tua. | 6 But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he then said to the paralytic--"Rise, take up your bed and go home." |
| 7 Ed egli, levatosi, se ne andò a casa sua. | 7 And he rose and went home. |
| 8 E le turbe, veduto ciò, si maravigliarono, e glorificarono Iddio, che avea data cotal podestà agli uomini | 8 When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men. |
| 9 POI Gesù, passando oltre, vide un uomo che sedeva al banco della gabella, chiamato Matteo; ed egli gli disse: Seguitami. Ed egli, levatosi, lo seguitò. | 9 As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he rose and followed him. |
| 10 Ed avvenne che, essendo Gesù a tavola in casa, ecco, molti pubblicani e peccatori vennero, e si misero a tavola con Gesù, e co’ suoi discepoli. | 10 And as he sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. |
| 11 E i Farisei, vedendo ciò, dissero a’ discepoli di esso: Perchè mangia il vostro maestro co’ pubblicani e co’ peccatori? | 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" |
| 12 E Gesù, avendoli uditi, disse loro: Coloro che stanno bene non hanno bisogno di medico, ma i malati. Or andate, e imparate che cosa è: | 12 But when he heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. |
| 13 Io voglio misericordia, e non sacrifizio; perciocchè io non son venuto per chiamare a ravvedimento i giusti, anzi i peccatori | 13 Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." |
| 14 ALLORA si accostarono a lui i discepoli di Giovanni, dicendo: Perchè noi ed i Farisei digiuniamo noi spesso, e i tuoi discepoli non digiunano? | 14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" |
| 15 E Gesù disse loro: Que’ della camera delle nozze posson eglino far cordoglio, mentre lo sposo è con loro? ma verranno i giorni, che lo sposo sarà loro tolto, ed allora digiuneranno. | 15 And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. |
| 16 Or niuno mette un pezzo di panno rozzo in un vestimento vecchio; perciocchè quel ripieno porta via un pezzo del vestimento, e la rottura si fa peggiore. | 16 And no one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. |
| 17 Parimente, non si mette vin nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti gli otri si rompono, e il vino si spande, e gli otri si perdono; ma si mette il vin nuovo in otri nuovi, e amendue si conservano | 17 Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; if it is, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved." |
| 18 MENTRE egli ragionava loro queste cose, ecco, uno de’ capi della sinagoga venne, e gli s’inchinò, dicendo: La mia figliuola è pur ora trapassata; ma vieni, e metti la mano sopra di lei, ed ella viverà. | 18 While he was thus speaking to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live." |
| 19 E Gesù, levatosi, lo seguitò, insieme co’ suoi discepoli. | 19 And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples. |
| 20 Ed ecco, una donna, inferma di flusso di sangue già da dodici anni, si accostò di dietro, e toccò il lembo della sua vesta. | 20 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment; |
| 21 Perciocchè ella diceva fra sè stessa: Se sol tocco la sua vesta, sarò liberata. | 21 for she said to herself, "If I only touch his garment, I shall be made well." |
| 22 E Gesù, rivoltosi, e vedutala, le disse: Sta’ di buon cuore, figliuola; la tua fede ti ha salvata. E da quell’ora la donna fu liberata. | 22 Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well." And instantly the woman was made well. |
| 23 E quando Gesù fu venuto in casa del capo della sinagoga, ed ebbe veduti i sonatori, e la moltitudine che romoreggiava, disse loro; | 23 And when Jesus came to the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd making a tumult, |
| 24 Ritraetevi; perciocchè la fanciulla non è morta, ma dorme. Ed essi si ridevano di lui. | 24 he said, "Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him. |
| 25 Ma quando la moltitudine fu messa fuori, egli entrò, e prese la fanciulla per la mano, ed ella si destò. | 25 But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. |
| 26 E la fama di ciò andò per tutto quel paese | 26 And the report of this went through all that district. |
| 27 E PARTENDOSI Gesù di là, due ciechi lo seguitarono, gridando e dicendo: Abbi pietà di noi, Figliuolo di Davide. | 27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, "Have mercy on us, Son of David." |
| 28 E quando egli fu venuto in casa, que’ ciechi si accostarono a lui. E Gesù disse loro: Credete voi che io possa far cotesto? Essi gli risposero: Sì certo, Signore. | 28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord." |
| 29 Allora egli toccò gli occhi loro, dicendo: Siavi fatto secondo la vostra fede. | 29 Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." |
| 30 E gli occhi loro furono aperti; e Gesù fece loro un severo divieto, dicendo: | 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly charged them, "See that no one knows it." |
| 31 Guardate che niuno lo sappia. Ma essi, usciti fuori, pubblicarono la fama di esso per tutto quel paese. | 31 But they went away and spread his fame through all that district. |
| 32 Ora, come que’ ciechi uscivano, ecco, gli fu presentato un uomo mutolo, indemoniato. | 32 As they were going away, behold, a dumb demoniac was brought to him. |
| 33 E quando il demonio fu cacciato fuori, il mutolo parlò, e le turbe si maravigliavano, dicendo: Giammai non si vide cotal cosa in Israele. | 33 And when the demon had been cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds marveled, saying, "Never was anything like this seen in Israel." |
| 34 Ma i Farisei dicevano: Egli caccia i demoni per lo principe de’ demoni | 34 But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons by the prince of demons." |
| 35 E GESÙ andava attorno per tutte le città, e per le castella, insegnando nelle lor sinagoghe, e predicando l’evangelo del regno, e sanando ogni malattia, ed ogni infermità, fra il popolo. | 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity. |
| 36 E, vedendo le turbe, n’ebbe compassione, perciocchè erano stanchi e dispersi, a guisa di pecore che non hanno pastore. | 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. |
| 37 Allora egli disse a’ suoi discepoli: Ben è la ricolta grande, ma pochi sono gli operai. | 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; |
| 38 Pregate adunque il Signore della ricolta, ch’egli spinga degli operai nella sua ricolta | 38 pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." |
