Ezechiele 21

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata, dicendo:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 Figliuol d’uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso Gerusalemme, e parla contro a’ luoghi santi, e profetizza contro alla terra d’Israele; e di’ alla terra d’Israele:	2 'Son of man, turn to the right; utter your word towards the south, prophesy against the forest land ofthe Negeb.
3 Così ha detto il Signore: Eccomi contro a te; io trarrò la mia spada dal suo fodero, e distruggerò di te il giusto, e l’empio.	3 Say to the forest of Negeb, "Hear the word of Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says this: Listen; I am aboutto kindle a fire in you which wil burn up every green tree in you as wel as every dry one; it wil be anunquenchable blaze and every face wil be scorched by it from the Negeb to the north.
4 Perciocchè io ho determinato di distruggere di te il giusto, e l’empio, perciò sarà tratta la mia spada fuor del suo fodero contro ad ogni carne, dal Mezzodì fino al Settentrione.	4 Al humanity wil see that it was I, Yahweh, who kindled it, and it wil not be extinguished." '
5 Ed ogni carne conoscerà che io, il Signore, avrò tratta la mia spada, fuor del suo fodero; ella non vi sarà più rimessa.	5 I said, 'Lord Yahweh, they say of me, "He does nothing but speak in riddles!"'
6 Oltre a ciò, tu, figliuol d’uomo, sospira; sospira con rottura di lombi, e con amaritudine, nel cospetto loro.	6 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
7 E quando ti diranno: Perchè sospiri? di’: Per lo grido; perciocchè la cosa viene; ed ogni cuore si struggerà, e ogni mano diverrà rimessa, ed ogni spirito si verrà meno, e tutte le ginocchia si dissolveranno in acqua; ecco, la cosa viene, e sarà messa ad effetto, dice il Signore Iddio	7 'Son of man, turn towards Jerusalem, utter your word towards the sanctuary and prophesy against theland of Israel.
8 Poi la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata, dicendo:	8 Say to the land of Israel, "Yahweh says this: Now I am against you; I am about to unsheathe my swordand rid you of the upright and the wicked alike.
9 Figliuol d’uomo, profetizza, e di’: Così ha detto il Signore: Di’: La spada, la spada è aguzzata, ed anche è forbita;	9 Since I am going to rid you of upright and wicked alike, I shal unsheathe my sword against everyonealive, from the Negeb to the north,
10 è aguzzata, per fare una grande uccisione; è forbita, acciocchè folgori; ci potremmo noi rallegrare, o scettro del mio figliuolo, che sprezzi ogni legno?	10 so that everyone alive wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who has unsheathed my sword; it wil notgo back again."
11 E il Signore l’ha data a forbire, per impugnarla; è una spada aguzzata, e forbita, per darla in mano d’un ucciditore.	11 'Son of man, groan as though your heart were breaking. Utter your bitter groans where they can seeyou.
12 Grida, ed urla, o figliuol d’uomo; perciocchè ella è contro il mio popolo; ella è contro a tutti i principi d’Israele; il mio popolo non è altro che uomini atterrati per la spada; perciò, percuotiti in su la coscia.	12 And if they say, "Why these groans?" reply, "Because of the news which is about to come, all hearts wil sink, al hands grow weak, all spirits grow faint and al knees turn to water. It is coming now, it is here!-declares Lord Yahweh." '
13 Perciocchè una prova è stata fatta; e che dunque, se anche lo scettro sprezzante non sarà più? dice il Signore Iddio.	13 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
14 Tu adunque, figliuol d’uomo, profetizza, e battiti a palme; la spada sarà raddoppiata fino a tre volte; essa è la spada degli uccisi; la spada del grande ucciso che penetrerà fin dentro alle lor camerette.	14 'Son of man, prophesy. Say, "The Lord says this. Say: The sword, the sword has been sharpenedand polished,
15 Io ho posto lo spavento della spada sopra tutte le lor porte, per far che ogni cuore si strugga, e per moltiplicar le ruine; ahi lasso me! ella è apparecchiata per folgorare; è aguzzata per ammazzare.	15 sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning . . .
16 O spada, giugni a man destra, colpisci a sinistra, dovunque la tua faccia sarà dirizzata.	16 He has had it polished to be wielded, this sword sharpened and polished to put in the slaughterer'shand!
17 Io altresì mi batterò a palme, ed acqueterò la mia ira. Io, il Signore, ho parlato	17 Shout and wail, son of man, for it wil come on my people, on all the chief men of Israel doomed likemy people to the sword! So beat your breast,
18 La parola del Signore mi fu ancora indirizzata, dicendo:	18 for this wil be an ordeal . . . declares the Lord Yahweh.
19 Or tu, figliuol d’uomo, fatti due vie, dalle quali venga la spada del re di Babilonia; escano amendue d’una stessa terra; ed appiana un certo spazio; appianalo in capo d’una strada di città.	19 So prophesy, son of man, and clap your hands! Let the sword pass three times, that sword forvictims, that sword for a great victim, threatening them from every side!
20 Fa’ una via, per la quale la spada venga contro a Rabba de’ figliuoli di Ammon; ed un’altra, per la quale venga in Giuda contro a Gerusalemme, città forte.	20 To make hearts sink and make sure many fall, I have posted the slaughtering sword at every gate toflash like lightning, polished for slaughter.
21 Perciocchè il re di Babilonia si è fermato in una forca di strada, in un capo di due vie, per prendere augurio; egli ha sparse le saette, ha domandati gl’idoli, ha riguardato nel fegato.	21 Be sharp, on the right, be ready on the left, whichever way your blade is needed!
22 L’augurio è stato, ch’egli si volgesse dalla man destra, verso Gerusalemme, per rizzar contro ad essa dei trabocchi, per aprir la bocca con uccisione, per alzar la voce con istormo, per rizzar trabocchi contro alle porte, per fare argini, per edificar bastie.	22 I too shal clap my hands and sate my fury! I, Yahweh, have spoken." '
23 Ma ciò è parso un augurio vano a quelli che aveano loro fatti molti giuramenti; ma ora egli rammemorerà loro l’iniquità; acciocchè sieno presi.	23 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
24 Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Perciocchè voi riducete a memoria la vostra iniquità; palesandosi i vostri misfatti, e mostrandosi i vostri peccati in tutti i vostri fatti; perciocchè, dico, voi la riducete a memoria, voi sarete presi a forza di mano.	24 'Son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to come along, making both ofthem begin from the same country. Then put up a signpost, put it where the road leaves for the city,
25 E tu, empio profano, principe d’Israele, il cui giorno è venuto, nel tempo del colmo dell’iniquità;	25 trace the route which the sword should take for Rabbah-of-the-Ammonites, and for Judah, to thefortress of Jerusalem.
26 così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Togli cotesta benda reale, e leva via cotesta corona; ella non sarà più dessa; io innalzerò colui che è basso, ed abbasserò colui che è innalzato.	26 For the king of Babylon has halted at the fork where these two roads diverge, to take the omens. Hehas shaken the arrows, questioned the household gods, inspected the liver.
27 Io la riverserò, la riverserò, la riverserò; ed ella non sarà più dessa, fin che venga colui a cui appartiene il giudicio; ed io gliela darò	27 The lot marked 'Jerusalem' is in his right hand: there to set up battering-rams, give the word forslaughter, raise the war cry, level battering-rams against the gates, cast up earthworks, build entrenchments.
28 E tu, figliuol d’uomo, profetizza, e di’: Così ha detto il Signore Iddio, intorno a’ figliuoli di Ammon, ed intorno al lor vituperio: Di’ adunque: La spada, la spada è sguainata; ella è forbita per ammazzare, per consumare, per folgorare.	28 The inhabitants wil believe that these omens are idle, for they have received sworn guarantees, buthe wil bring their guilt to mind and capture them.
29 Mentre ti si veggono visioni di vanità, mentre ti s’indovina menzogna, mettendoti sopra il collo degli empi uccisi, il cui giorno è venuto, nel tempo del colmo dell’iniquità;	29 And so the Lord Yahweh says this, "Since you have brought your guilt to mind by parading yourmisdeeds and flaunting your sins in everything you do: because you have drawn attention to yourselves, you willbe captured.
30 rimetterebbesi quella spada nel suo fodero? Io ti giudicherò nel luogo stesso ove sei stata creata, nel tuo natio paese;	30 As for you, impious and wicked prince of Israel, whose doom is approaching to put an end to yourcrimes,
31 e spanderò sopra te il mio cruccio; io soffierò nel fuoco della mia indegnazione contro a te, e ti darò in man d’uomini insensati, artefici di distruzione.	31 the Lord Yahweh says this: They will take away your diadem and remove your crown. Everything wilbe changed; the low wil be raised and the high brought low!
32 Tu sarai per pastura del fuoco; il tuo sangue sarà in mezzo del paese; tu non sarai più ricordata; perciocchè io, il Signore, ho parlato	32 Ruin, ruin, I shal bring such ruin as never was before, until the rightful ruler comes, on whom I shalbestow it."
	33 'Son of man, prophesy and say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: In reply to the Ammonites and theirjeers, say: The sword, the sword is drawn for slaughter, polished to devour, to flash like lightning-
	34 while you have empty visions and consult lying omens-to cut the throats of the wicked, whose doomis approaching to put an end to their crimes.
	35 Put it back in the scabbard. The place where you were created, the land of your origin, wil be where Ijudge you.
	36 I shal vent my fury on you, breathe the fire of my rage against you and hand you over to barbarousmen whose trade is destruction.
	37 You wil be fuel for the fire, your blood wil flow through the country, you wil leave no memory behindyou; for I, Yahweh, have spoken!" '
