Geremia 8

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel tempo, dice il Signore, saranno tratte fuor de’ lor sepolcri l’ossa dei re di Giuda, e l’ossa de’ suoi principi, e l’ossa de’ sacerdoti, e l’ossa de’ profeti, e l’ossa degli abitanti di Gerusalemme.	1 'When that time comes, Yahweh declares, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its chief men,the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, wil be takenfrom their tombs.
2 E saranno sparse al sole, e alla luna, ed a tutto l’esercito del cielo; le quali cose essi hanno amate, ed hanno lor servito, e sono loro andati dietro, e l’hanno ricercate, e l’hanno adorate; quell’ossa non saranno raccolte, nè seppellite; saranno come letame in su la faccia della terra.	2 They wil be spread out before the sun, the moon, the whole array of heaven, whom they have loved andserved, fol owed, consulted and worshipped. They wil not be gathered or reburied but will be left lying on thesurface like dung.
3 E la morte sarà più desiderabile che la vita, a tutto il rimanente di coloro che saranno avanzati di questa nazion malvagia; in tutti i luoghi ove ne saranno rimasti alcuni di resto, ne’ quali io li avrò scacciati, dice il Signor degli eserciti	3 And death will seem preferable to life to al the survivors of this wicked race, wherever I have driventhem, Yahweh Sabaoth declares.
4 DI’ loro ancora: Così ha detto il Signore: Se alcun cade, non si rileva egli? se si disvia, non ritorna egli al diritto cammino?	4 'You are to tel them, "Yahweh says this: If someone fal s, can he not stand up again? If people stray,can they not turn back?
5 Perchè si è questo popolo di Gerusalemme sviato d’uno sviamento pertinace? si sono attenuti all’inganno, han ricusato di convertirsi,	5 Why does this people persist in acts of infidelity, why does Jerusalem persist in continuous infidelity?They cling to il usion, they refuse to turn back.
6 io sono stato attento, ed ho ascoltato; non parlano dirittamente, non vi è alcuno che si penta del suo male, dicendo: Che cosa ho fatto? ciascun di loro si è volto al suo corso, a guisa di cavallo, che trascorre alla battaglia.	6 I have listened attentively: they have never said anything like that. Not one repents of wickednesssaying: What have I done? Each one keeps returning to the course like a horse charging into battle.
7 Anche la cicogna nel cielo conosce le sue stagioni; e la tortola, e la gru, e la rondine, osservano il tempo della lor venuta; ma il mio popolo non ha conosciuto il giudicio del Signore.	7 Even the stork in the sky knows the appropriate season; turtledove, swal ow and crane observe theirtime of migration. But my people do not know Yahweh's laws!" '
8 Come potete dire: Noi siamo savi, e la Legge del Signore è con noi? ecco pure il falso stile degli scribi si è adoperato a falsità.	8 How can you say, 'We are wise, since we have Yahweh's Law?' Look how it has been falsified by thelying pen of the scribes!
9 I savi sono stati confusi, sono stati spaventati, e presi; ecco, hanno rigettata la parola del Signore; e qual sapienza sarebbe in loro?	9 The wise are put to shame, alarmed, caught out because they have rejected Yahweh's word. What pricetheir wisdom now?
10 Perciò, io darò le lor mogli ad altri, e i lor poderi ad altri possessori; perciocchè tutti, dal maggiore al minore, son dati all’avarizia; tutti, profeti, e sacerdoti, commettono falsità;	10 So I shal give their wives to other men, their fields to new masters, for, from the least to greatest, theyare al greedy for gain; prophet no less than priest, al of them practise fraud.
11 ed han curata la rottura della figliuola del mio popolo alla leggiera, dicendo: Pace, pace; benchè non vi sia alcuna pace.	11 Without concern they dress the wound of the daughter of my people, saying, 'Peace! Peace!' whereasthere is no peace.
12 Si son eglino vergognati, perchè hanno fatta una cosa abbominevole? non hanno avuta vergogna alcuna, e non son saputi vergognarsi; perciò caderanno fra gli uccisi, nel tempo della lor visitazione, e traboccheranno, ha detto il Signore	12 They should be ashamed of their loathsome deeds. Not they! They feel no shame, they do not evenknow how to blush. And so as others fall, they too wil fal , will be thrown down when the time for punishing themcomes, Yahweh says.
13 Io li consumerò affatto, dice il Signore; non vi è più uva nella vite, nè fichi nel fico; le foglie stesse si son appassate; ed anche ciò che io darò loro sarà loro tolto.	13 I shal put an end to them, Yahweh declares, no more grapes on the vine, no more figs on the fig treeonly withered leaves: I have found them people to trample on them!
14 Perchè ce ne stiamo? ricoglietevi, ed entriamo nelle città forti, ed ivi stiamocene cheti; perciocchè il Signore Iddio nostro ci fa star cheti, e ci abbevera d’acqua di tosco; perciocchè abbiam peccato contro al Signore.	14 Why are we sitting still? Mobilise! Take to the fortified towns and there fall silent, since Yahweh ourGod means to silence us by giving us poisoned water to drink because we have sinned against him.
15 Ei si sta aspettando pace, ma non vi è bene alcuno; il tempo della guarigione, ed ecco turbamento.	15 We are hoping for peace -- no good came of it! For the time of healing -- nothing but terror!
16 Il fremito de’ suoi cavalli è stato udito da Dan; tutta la terra ha tremato per lo suono dell’annitrire de’ suoi destrieri; son venuti, ed hanno divorato il paese, e tutto ciò che è in esso; le città, ed i loro abitanti.	16 From Dan you can hear the snorting of his horses; at the neighing of his stal ions the whole countryquakes; they are coming to devour the country and its contents, the town and those that live in it.
17 Perciocchè, ecco, io mando contro a voi de’ serpenti, degli aspidi, contro a’ quali non vi è alcuna incantagione; e vi morderanno, dice il Signore.	17 Yes, now I am sending you poisonous snakes against which no charm exists; and they wil bite you,Yahweh declares.
18 O mio conforto nel cordoglio! il mio cuore langue in me.	18 Incurable sorrow overtakes me, my heart fails me.
19 Ecco la voce del grido della figliuola del mio popolo, da lontan paese: Non è il Signore in Sion? non vi è il re d’essa? Perchè mi hanno essi dispettato con le loro sculture, con vanità di stranieri?	19 Hark, from the daughter of my people the cry for help, ringing far and wide throughout the land! 'IsYahweh no longer in Zion, her King no longer there?' (Why have they provoked me with their idols, with theirfutile foreign gods?)
20 La ricolta è passata, la state è finita, e noi non siamo stati salvati.	20 'Harvest is over, summer at an end, and we have not been saved!'
21 Io son tutto rotto per la rottura della figliuola del mio popolo; io ne vo vestito a bruno; stupore mi ha occupato.	21 The wound of the daughter of my people wounds me too, all looks dark to me, terror grips me.
22 Non vi è egli alcun balsamo in Galaad? non vi è egli alcun medico? perchè dunque non è stata risaldata la piaga della figliuola del mio popolo?	22 Is there no balm in Gilead any more? Is no doctor there? Then why is there no progress in the cure ofthe daughter of my people?
	23 Who wil turn my head into a fountain, and my eyes into a spring of tears, that I can weep day and nightover the slain of the daughter of my people?
