Geremia 29

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 OR queste sono le parole delle lettere che il profeta Geremia mandò di Gerusalemme al rimanente degli anziani di quelli ch’erano stati menati in cattività, ed a’ sacerdoti, ed a’ profeti, ed a tutto il popolo, che Nebucadnesar avea menato in cattività di Gerusalemme in Babilonia	1 This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to those who were left of theelders in exile, to the priests, the prophets and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had deported fromJerusalem to Babylon.
2 dopo che il re Geconia fu uscito di Gerusalemme, insieme con la regina, e con gli eunuchi, e coi principi di Giuda, e di Gerusalemme, e co’ fabbri, e ferraiuoli,	2 This was after King Jeconiah had left Jerusalem with the queen mother, the eunuchs, the chief men ofJudah and Jerusalem, and the blacksmiths and metalworkers.
3 per Elasa, figliuolo di Safan, e per Ghemaria, figliuolo di Hilchia i quali Sedechia, re di Giuda, mandava in Babilonia, a Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia; cioè:	3 The letter was entrusted to Elasah son of Shaphan and to Gemariah son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiahking of Judah had sent to Babylon, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. The letter said:
4 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele, a tutti quelli che sono stati menati in cattività, i quali io ho fatti menare in cattività di Gerusalemme in Babilonia.	4 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this to al the exiles deported from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 Edificate delle case, ed abitate in esse, e piantate de’ giardini, e mangiatene il frutto.	5 Build houses, settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce;
6 Prendete mogli, e generate figliuoli e figliuole; prendete eziandio mogli per li vostri figliuoli, e date a marito le vostre figliuole, e partoriscano figliuoli e figliuole; e moltiplicate quivi, e non diminuite.	6 marry and have sons and daughters; choose wives for your sons, find husbands for your daughters sothat these can bear sons and daughters in their turn; you must increase there and not decrease.
7 E procacciate la pace della città, dove io vi ho fatti andare in cattività; e pregate il Signore per essa: perciocchè nella pace di essa voi avrete pace	7 Work for the good of the city to which I have exiled you; pray to Yahweh on its behalf, since on itswelfare yours depends.
8 Conciossiachè il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele, abbia detto così: Non seducanvi i vostri profeti, che sono fra voi, nè i vostri indovini; e non attendete a’ vostri sogni, che voi sognate.	8 For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Do not be deceived by the prophets who are withyou or by your diviners; do not listen to the dreams you have,
9 Perciocchè quelli vi profetizzano falsamente in Nome mio; io non li ho mandati, dice il Signore.	9 since they prophesy lies to you in my name. I have not sent them, Yahweh declares.
10 Imperocchè così ha detto il Signore: Quando i settant’anni di Babilonia saranno compiuti, io vi visiterò, e metterò ad effetto inverso voi la mia buona parola, per ricondurvi in questo luogo.	10 For Yahweh says this: When the seventy years granted to Babylon are over, I shal intervene on yourbehalf and fulfil my favourable promise to you by bringing you back to this place.
11 Perciocchè io so i pensieri che io penso intorno a voi, dice il Signore; che son pensieri di pace, e non a male, per darvi uscita e speranza.	11 Yes, I know what plans I have in mind for you, Yahweh declares, plans for peace, not for disaster, togive you a future and a hope.
12 E voi m’invocherete, ed andrete, e mi farete orazione, ed io vi esaudirò.	12 When you cal to me and come and pray to me, I shal listen to you.
13 E voi mi cercherete, e mi troverete, quando mi avrete ricercato di tutti il vostro cuore.	13 When you search for me, you will find me; when you search wholeheartedly for me,
14 Ed io mi renderò inverso voi agevole a trovare, dice il Signore; e vi ritrarrò della vostra cattività; e vi raccoglierò d’infra tutte le genti, e di tutti i luoghi, dove vi avrò cacciati, dice il Signore; e vi ricondurrò nel luogo, onde vi ho fatti andare in cattività	14 I shal let you find me (Yahweh declares. I shal restore your fortunes and gather you in from al thenations and wherever I have driven you, Yahweh declares. I shal bring you back to the place from which I exiledyou).
15 Perciocchè voi avete detto: Il Signore ci ha suscitati de’ profeti in Babilonia.	15 'Since you say: Yahweh has raised up prophets for us in Babylon-
16 Sappiate che il Signore ha detto così del re che siede sopra il trono di Davide, e del popolo che abita in questa città, e de’ vostri fratelli che non sono stati menati in cattività con voi;	16 this is what Yahweh says about the king now occupying the throne of David and all the people living inthis city, your brothers who did not go with you into exile:
17 così, dico, ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco, io mando contro a loro la spada, la fame, e la pestilenza; e li farò essere come fichi marci, che non si possono mangiare, per la lor cattività.	17 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I am now going to send them sword, famine and plague; I shal makethem like rotten figs, so bad as to be uneatable.
18 E li perseguirò con la spada, con la fame, e con la pestilenza; e farò che saranno agitati per tutti i regni della terra; e saranno in esecrazione, e in istupore, e in zufolo, e in vituperio fra tutte le genti, dove li avrò scacciati.	18 I shal pursue them with sword, famine and plague. I shall make them an object of terror to al thekingdoms of the earth, a curse, a thing of horror, scorn and derision to al the nations where I have driven them,
19 Perciocchè non hanno ubbidito alle mie parole, dice il Signore, che io ho lor mandate a dire per li miei servitori profeti, del continuo per ogni mattina; ma essi non hanno ascoltato, dice il Signore.	19 because they have refused to listen to my words, Yahweh declares, although I have persistently sentthem al my servants the prophets; but they would not listen, Yahweh declares.
20 Voi dunque tutti che siete in cattività, i quali io ho mandati di Gerusalemme in Babilonia, ascoltate la parola del Signore.	20 But al you exiles, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon, listen to Yahweh's word!
21 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele, intorno ad Achab, figliuolo di Colaia, e intorno a Sedechia, figliuolo di Maaseia, che vi profetizzano in Nome mio falsità: Ecco, io do costoro in man di Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia; ed egli li farà morire davanti agli occhi vostri.	21 'This is what Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says about Ahab son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah son ofMaaseiah, who prophesy lies to you in my name: I shal hand them over now to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon who wil put them to death before your very eyes.
22 E di loro si prenderà una forma di maledizione fra tutti quelli di Giuda che sono in cattività, in Babilonia, dicendo: Il Signore ti renda simile a Sedechia, e ad Achab, i quali il re di Babilonia ha arrostiti al fuoco.	22 This curse, based on their fate, wil be used by al the exiles of Judah in Babylon: May Yahweh treatyou like Zedekiah and Ahab, roasted alive by the king of Babylon,
23 Perciocchè han fatte delle cose nefande in Israele, ed han commesso adulterio con le mogli de’ lor prossimi, ed han parlato in Nome mio falsamente; il che io non avea lor comandato; ed io sono quel che ne son sapevole e testimonio, dice il Signore	23 because they have done a scandalous thing in Israel, committing adultery with their neighbour's wivesand speaking lying words in my name without orders from me. I know al the same and am witness to it, Yahwehdeclares.'
24 Parla eziandio a Semaia Nehelamita, dicendo:	24 'And to Shemaiah of Nehelam you wil speak as fol ows:
25 Così ha detto il Signore degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Perciocchè tu hai mandate in nome tuo lettere a tutto il popolo, che è in Gerusalemme, ed a Sofonia, figliuolo di Maaseia, sacerdote, ed a tutti i sacerdoti, dicendo:	25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Since you, on your own initiative, have sent a letter to allthe people in Jerusalem, to the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah (and to al the priests), saying:
26 Il Signore ti ha costituito sacerdote in luogo del sacerdote Gioiada; acciocchè voi siate sopraintendenti della Casa del Signore, avendo podestà sopra ogni uomo forsennato, e che fa il profeta, per metterlo in carcere, e ne’ ceppi;	26 Yahweh has appointed you priest in place of the priest Jehoiada to keep order in the Temple ofYahweh, to put any crazy fel ow posing as a prophet in the stocks and col ar,
27 ora dunque, perchè non hai tu sgridato Geremia di Anatot, che fa il profeta fra voi?	27 why then have you not disciplined Jeremiah of Anathoth, now posing as a prophet to you?
28 Perciocchè egli ci ha mandato a dire in Babilonia: La cosa andrà in lungo; edificate pur delle case, ed abitate in esse; piantate de’ giardini, e mangiatene il frutto.	28 Why, he has even sent us a message in Babylon, saying: It wil be a long time. Build houses, settledown; plant gardens and eat what they produce.'. . .
29 Or il sacerdote Sofonia avea lette queste lettere in presenza del profeta Geremia.	29 (Now, after the priest Zephaniah had read this letter to the prophet Jeremiah),
30 La parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Geremia, dicendo:	30 the word of Yahweh came then to Jeremiah as fol ows,
31 Manda a dir così a tutti quelli che sono in cattività: Il Signore ha detto così intorno a Semaia Nehelamita: Perciocchè Semaia vi ha profetizzato, benchè io non l’abbia mandato; e vi ha fatti confidare in menzogna;	31 'Send this message to al the exiles, "This is what Yahweh says about Shemaiah of Nehelam: SinceShemaiah has prophesied to you without my sending him, and since he has caused you to rely on what is false
32 perciò, così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, io farò punizione di Semaia Nehelamita, e della sua progenie; non vi sarà alcuno de’ suoi discendenti che abiti in mezzo di questo popolo; e nè egli, nè alcuno della sua progenie, non vedrà il bene che io farò al mio popolo, dice il Signore; perciocchè egli ha parlato di ribellione contro al Signore	32 for that reason, Yahweh declares, I shal punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants; no malemember of his family wil survive among this people to see the happiness that I wil bestow on my people(Yahweh declares, since he has preached rebel ion against Yahweh)." '
