| 1 O VOI tutti che siete assetati, venite alle acque; e voi che non avete alcuni danari, venite, comperate, e mangiate; venite, dico, comperate, senza danari, e senza prezzo, vino, e latte. | 1 "Ho, every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. |
| 2 Perchè spendete danari in ciò che non è pane, e la vostra fatica in ciò che non può saziare? ascoltatemi pure, e voi mangerete del buono, e l’anima vostra goderà del grasso. | 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in fatness. |
| 3 Inchinate il vostro orecchio, e venite a me; ascoltate, e l’anima vostra viverà; ed io farò con voi un patto eterno, secondo le benignità stabili, promesse a Davide. | 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. |
| 4 Ecco, io l’ho dato per testimonio delle nazioni; per conduttore, e comandatore a’ popoli. | 4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. |
| 5 Ecco, tu chiamerai la gente che tu non conoscevi, e la nazione che non ti conosceva correrà a te, per cagion del Signore Iddio tuo, e del Santo d’Israele; perciocchè egli ti avrà glorificato | 5 Behold, you shall call nations that you know not, and nations that knew you not shall run to you, because of the LORD your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you. |
| 6 Cercate il Signore, mentre egli si trova; invocatelo, mentre egli è vicino. | 6 "Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near; |
| 7 Lasci l’empio la sua via, e l’uomo iniquo i suoi pensieri; e convertasi al Signore, ed egli avrà pietà di lui; ed all’Iddio nostro, perciocchè egli è gran perdonatore. | 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. |
| 8 Perciocchè i miei pensieri non sono i vostri pensieri, nè le mie vie le vostre vie, dice il Signore. | 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. |
| 9 Conciossiachè, quanto i cieli son più alti che la terra, tanto sieno più alte le mie vie che le vostre vie, ed i miei pensieri che i vostri pensieri. | 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. |
| 10 Perciocchè, siccome la pioggia e la neve scende dal cielo, e non vi ritorna; anzi adacqua la terra, e la fa produrre e germogliare, talchè ella dà sementa da seminare, e pane de mangiare; | 10 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, |
| 11 così sarà la mia parola, che sarà uscita della mia bocca; ella non ritornerà a me a vuoto; anzi opererà ciò che io avrò voluto, e prospererà in ciò per che l’avrò mandata. | 11 so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it. |
| 12 Perciocchè voi uscirete con allegrezza, e sarete condotti in pace; i monti, e i colli risoneranno grida di allegrezza davanti a voi; e tutti gli alberi della campagna si batteranno a palme. | 12 "For you shall go out in joy, and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. |
| 13 In luogo dello spino crescerà l’abete, in luogo dell’ortica crescerà il mirto; e ciò sarà al Signore in fama, in segno eterno, che non verrà giammai meno | 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be to the LORD for a memorial, for an everlasting sign which shall not be cut off." |
