EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Aquel día, Débora y Barac entonaron este canto:	1 In that day Debbora and Barac son of Abinoem sung, and said:
2 «Porque en Israel van con los cabellos sueltos, porque el pueblo se ofreció voluntariamente, ¡bendigan al Señor!	2 O you of Israel, that have willingly offered your lives to danger, bless the Lord.
3 ¡Escuchen, reyes! ¡Presten oído, príncipes! Yo voy a cantar, voy a cantar al Señor, celebraré al Señor, el Dios de Israel.	3 Hear, O ye kings, give ear, ye princes: It is I, it is I, that will sing to the Lord, I will sing to the Lord the God of Israel.
4 Señor, cuando tú saliste de Seír, cuando avanzabas desde las estepas de Edom, tembló la tierra, fluyeron los cielos, y hasta las nubes se deshicieron en torrentes;	4 O Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, and passedst by the regions of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped water.
5 se diluyeron las montañas, delante del Señor –el del Sinaí– delante del Señor, el Dios de Israel.	5 The mountains melted before the face of the Lord, and Sinai before the face of the Lord the God of Israel.
6 En los días de Samgar, hijo de Anat, en los días de Jael, estaban desiertos los caminos; los que antes iban por los senderos tomaban por sendas desviadas.	6 In the days of Samgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jahel the paths rested: and they that went by them, walked through by-ways.
7 Ya no había más jefes, no había ni uno solo en Israel, hasta que te levantaste tú, Débora, hasta que te levantaste tú, madre en Israel.	7 The valiant men ceased, and rested in Israel: until Debbora arose, a mother arose in Israel.
8 La gente elegía dioses nuevos, la guerra ya estaba a las puertas; no se veía ni un escudo ni una lanza entre cuarenta mil hombres de Israel.	8 The Lord chose new wars, and he himself overthrew the gates of the enemies: a shield and spear was not seen among forty thousand of Israel.
9 Mi corazón está con los caudillos de Israel, con los voluntarios del pueblo. ¡Bendigan al Señor!	9 My heart loveth the princes of Israel: O you that of your own good will offered yourselves to danger, bless the Lord.
10 Ustedes, los que cabalgan en asnas blancas, montados sobre tapices, y los que marchan por el camino, ¡atiendan bien!	10 Speak, you that ride upon fair asses, and you that sit in judgment, and walk in the way.
11 ¡Escuchen a los arqueros junto a los pozos de agua! Allí se narran los actos de justicia del Señor, las gestas de su dominio en Israel, cuando el pueblo del Señor bajó a las Puertas.	11 Where the chariots were dashed together, and the army of the enemies was choked, there let the justices of the Lord be rehearsed, and his clemency towards the brave men of Israel: then the people of the Lord went down to the gates, and obtained the sovereignty.
12 ¡Despierta, Débora, despierta! ¡Sí, despierta, entona un canto! ¡Arriba, Barac, llévate a tus cautivos, hijo de Abinóam!	12 Arise, arise, O Debbora, arise, arise, and utter a canticle. Arise, Barac, and take hold of thy captives, O son of Abinoem.
13 Entonces bajó el resto de los nobles, el pueblo del Señor bajó en mi defensa con los héroes.	13 The remnants of the people are saved, the Lord hath fought among the valiant ones.
14 Lo mejor de Efraím está en el valle, detrás de ti va Benjamín, entre tus tropas. De Maquir bajaron los caudillos, y de Zabulón, los que empuñan el bastón de mando.	14 Out of Ephraim he destroyed them into Amalec, and after him out of Benjamin into thy people, O Amalec: Out of Machir there came down princes, and out of Zabulon they that led the army to fight.
15 Los príncipes de Isacar están con Débora: sí, Isacar, firme junto a Barac, se lanza tras sus pasos en el valle.	15 The captains of Issachar were with Debbora, and followed the steps of Barac, who exposed himself to danger, as one going headlong, and into a pit. Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.
16 ¿Por qué estás sentado entre los corrales, oyendo los silbidos de los que arrean los rebaños? Junto a los arroyos de Rubén se hacen muchas indagaciones.	16 Why dwellest thou between two borders, that thou mayest hear the bleatings of the flocks? Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.
17 Galaad ve tranquilo al otro lado del Jordán y Dan ¿por qué se queda en las naves? Aser habita a la orilla del mas y vive tranquilo en sus embarcaderos.	17 Galaad rested beyond the Jordan, and Dan applied himself to ships: Aser dwelt on the sea shore, and abode in the havens.
18 Zabulón es un pueblo que desafía la muerte, igual que Neftalí, sobre las alturas del campo.	18 But Zabulon and Nephtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merome.
19 Llegaron los reyes al combate: entonces combatieron los reyes de Canaán, en Taanac, junto a las aguas de Meguido, pero no recogieron plata como botín.	19 The kings came and fought, the kings of Chanaan fought in Thanach by the waters of Mageddo, and yet they took no spoils.
20 Desde el cielo combatieron las estrellas, desde sus órbitas combatieron contra Sísara.	20 War from heaven was made against them, the stars remaining in their order and courses fought against Sisara.
21 ¡El torrente Quisón los arrastró, el antiguo torrente, el torrente Quisón! ¡Avanza, alma mía, con denuedo!	21 The torrent of Cison dragged their carcasses, the torrent of Cadumim, the torrent of Cisoii: tread thou, my soul, upon the strong ones.
22 Los cascos de los caballos martillaron el suelo, al galope, al galope de sus corceles.	22 The hoofs of the horses were broken whilst the stoutest of the enemies fled amain, and fell headlong down.

26 Extendió su mano hacia la estaca, y su derecha, hacia el martillo de los trabajadores; martilló a Sísara, le partió la cabeza, le machacó y le atravesó la sien.	26 She put her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman's hammer, and she struck Sisara, seeking in his head a place for the wound, and strongly piercing through his temples.
27 El se desplomó a sus pies, cayó y quedó tendido; se desplomó, cayó a sus pies, allí donde se desplomó, yace aniquilado.	27 At her feet he fell: he fainted, and he died: he rolled before her feet, and he lay lifeless and wretched.
28 La madre de Sísara se asoma por la ventana, a través del enrejado, y se lamenta: «¿Por qué tarda en llegar su carro? ¿Por qué se han retrasado sus carros de combate?»	28 His mother looked out at a window, and howled: and she spoke from the dining room: Why is his chariot so long in coming back? Why are the feet of his horses so slow?
29 La más sagaz de sus princesas le responde, y ella misma se repite estas palabras:	29 One that was wiser than the rest of his wives, returned this answer to her mother in law:
30 «Seguro que están recogiendo y repartiendo el botín; una cautiva, dos cautivas para cada guerrero, paños de colores como botín para Sísara, una tela, dos telas recamadas para mi cuello».	30 Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the fairest of the women is chosen out for him: garments of divers colours are given to Sisara for his prey, and furniture of different kinds is heaped together to adorn the necks.
31 ¡Qué así desaparezcan todos tus enemigos, Señor, y los que te aman sean como el sol cuando despunta con toda su fuerza!». Y hubo paz en el país durante cuarenta años.	31 So let all thy enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love thee shine, as the sun shineth in his rising.
	32 And the land rested for forty years.
