| 1 No se fabriquen ídolos ni se erijan imágenes o piedras conmemorativas; no pongan en su tierra piedras grabadas para postrarse delante de ellas, porque yo soy el Señor, su Dios. | 1 "You shall make for yourselves no idols and erect no graven image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down to them; for I am the LORD your God. |
| 2 Observen mis sábados y respeten mi Santuario. Yo soy el Señor. | 2 You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD. |
| 3 Si ustedes viven conforme a mis preceptos y observan fielmente mis mandamientos, | 3 "If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, |
| 4 yo enviaré las lluvias a su debido tiempo, y así la tierra dará sus productos y las plantas del campo, sus frutos. | 4 then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. |
| 5 Entonces el tiempo de la trilla se prolongará hasta la vendimia y la vendimia, hasta la siembra. Comerán pan hasta saciarse y habitarán seguros en su tierra. | 5 And your threshing shall last to the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last to the time for sowing; and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely. |
| 6 Yo aseguraré la paz en el país y ustedes descansarán sin que nadie los perturbe: alejaré del país los animales dañinos y ninguna espada asolará la tierra | 6 And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land. |
| 7 Perseguirán a sus enemigos, y ellos caerán bajo la espada delante de ustedes. | 7 And you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. |
| 8 Cinco de ustedes perseguirán a cien, y cien a diez mil; y sus enemigos caerán bajo la espada delante de ustedes. | 8 Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. |
| 9 Yo los miraré con bondad, los haré fecundos y numerosos, y mantendré mi alianza con ustedes. | 9 And I will have regard for you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and will confirm my covenant with you. |
| 10 Comerán grano viejo largamente almacenado, y tendrán que tirar el grano viejo para dar lugar al nuevo. | 10 And you shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new. |
| 11 Yo pondré mi Morada en medio de ustedes y no les tendré aversión; | 11 And I will make my abode among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. |
| 12 siempre estaré presente entre ustedes: ustedes serán mi Pueblo y yo seré su Dios. | 12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people. |
| 13 Yo soy el Señor, su Dios, el que los hice salir de Egipto para que no fueran más sus esclavos. Yo rompí las barras de su yugo y los hice caminar con la cabeza erguida. | 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; and I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect. |
| 14 Pero si no me obedecen y no cumplen todos estos mandamientos; | 14 "But if you will not hearken to me, and will not do all these commandments, |
| 15 si desprecian mis preceptos y muestran aversión por mis leyes; si dejan de practicar mis mandamientos y quebrantan mi alianza, | 15 if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my ordinances, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant, |
| 16 yo, a mi vez, los trataré de la misma manera: haré que el terror los domine –la debilidad y la fiebre que consumen los ojos y desgastan la vida–. En vano plantarán sus semillas, porque las comerán sus enemigos. | 16 I will do this to you: I will appoint over you sudden terror, consumption, and fever that waste the eyes and cause life to pine away. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it; |
| 17 Yo volveré mi rostro contra ustedes y serán derrotados por sus enemigos; quedarán sometidos a sus adversarios y huirán aunque nadie los persiga. | 17 I will set my face against you, and you shall be smitten before your enemies; those who hate you shall rule over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you. |
| 18 Y si pesar de esto no me obedecen, seguiré corrigiéndolos siete veces más a causa de sus pecados. | 18 And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, then I will chastise you again sevenfold for your sins, |
| 19 Humillaré esa enorme soberbia, haciendo que el cielo sea para ustedes como hierro y la tierra como bronce. | 19 and I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like brass; |
| 20 Entonces agotarán sus fuerzas en vano, porque la tierra no dará sus productos ni las plantas del campo, sus frutos. | 20 and your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit. |
| 21 Y si me siguen contrariando y rehúsan obedecerme, volveré a castigarlos siete veces más a causa de sus pecados. | 21 "Then if you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring more plagues upon you, sevenfold as many as your sins. |
| 22 Enviaré contra ustedes las fieras del campo, para que les arrebaten a sus hijos y exterminen su ganado. Ellas las diezmarán, y los caminos de ustedes quedarán desiertos. | 22 And I will let loose the wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number, so that your ways shall become desolate. |
| 23 Y si a pesar de eso no se corrigen y me siguen contrariando, | 23 "And if by this discipline you are not turned to me, but walk contrary to me, |
| 24 yo también me pondré contra ustedes y los castigaré siete veces más a causa de sus pecados. | 24 then I also will walk contrary to you, and I myself will smite you sevenfold for your sins. |
| 25 Atraeré contra ustedes una espada que vengará la transgresión de la alianza. Entonces buscarán refugio en sus ciudades, pero les enviaré la peste y caerán en poder del enemigo. | 25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant; and if you gather within your cities I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. |
| 26 Cuando los prive del sustento diario, diez mujeres cocerán su pan en su horno, y lo distribuirán tan bien medido, que ustedes comerán pero no se saciarán. | 26 When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver your bread again by weight; and you shall eat, and not be satisfied. |
| 27 Y si a pesar de eso no me obedecen y continúan contrariándome, | 27 "And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, but walk contrary to me, |
| 28 yo los trataré con indignación y los reprenderé severamente siete veces más, a causa de sus pecados. | 28 then I will walk contrary to you in fury, and chastise you myself sevenfold for your sins. |
| 29 Comerán la carne de sus hijos y de sus hijas, | 29 You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters. |
| 30 y yo destruiré sus lugares altos, derribaré los altares donde ofrecen incienso, y arrojaré los cadáveres de ustedes sobre sus ídolos inertes. Les tendré aversión, | 30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols; and my soul will abhor you. |
| 31 convertiré sus ciudades en ruinas, asolaré sus santuarios, y ya no aspiraré el aroma de sus sacrificios. | 31 And I will lay your cities waste, and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing odors. |
| 32 Devastaré la tierra, hasta tal punto que sus mismos enemigos quedarán espantados cuando vengan a ocuparla. | 32 And I will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be astonished at it. |
| 33 Los dispersaré entre las naciones y desenvainaré la espada detrás de ustedes. Así el país se convertirá en un desierto y sus ciudades, en ruinas. | 33 And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste. |
| 34 Y durante todo el tiempo en que estará desolada, mientras ustedes vivan en el país de sus enemigos, la tierra pagará los años sabáticos que adeuda. | 34 "Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its sabbaths. |
| 35 En todo el tiempo de la desolación, ella observará por fin el descanso que no observó en sus años sabáticos, cuando ustedes la habitaban. | 35 As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest which it had not in your sabbaths when you dwelt upon it. |
| 36 A los sobrevivientes los llenaré de pánico en la tierra de sus enemigos: el ruido que produce una hoja al caer, los ahuyentará: huirán como quien huye de la espada, y caerán aunque nadie los persiga. | 36 And as for those of you that are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues. |
| 37 Sin ser perseguidos, se atropellarán unos a otros como si tuvieran delante una espada. Ustedes no podrán sostenerse en pie delante de sus adversarios, | 37 They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. |
| 38 sino que perecerán entre las naciones y se los tragará la tierra de sus enemigos. | 38 And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. |
| 39 Y aquellos que sobrevivan aún, se consumirán en la tierra de sus enemigos, a causa de sus propias culpas, y también a causa de las culpas de sus padres. | 39 And those of you that are left shall pine away in your enemies' lands because of their iniquity; and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they shall pine away like them. |
| 40 Entonces confesarán las culpas, que ellos y sus padres cometieron por haberme sido infieles, y sobre todo, por haberse puesto contra mí. | 40 "But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery which they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, |
| 41 Pero yo también me pondré contra ellos y los llevaré al país de sus enemigos. Así se humillará su corazón incircunciso y pagarán sus culpas. | 41 so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity; |
| 42 Yo me acordaré de mi alianza con Jacob, con Isaac y con Abraham, y me acordaré de la tierra. | 42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. |
| 43 Pero antes, la tierra quedará abandonada y pagará los años sabáticos que adeuda, mientras esté desolada por la ausencia de ellos; y también pagarán sus culpas, ya que despreciaron mis leyes y sintieron aversión por mis preceptos. | 43 But the land shall be left by them, and enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes. |
| 44 Pero aún entonces, cuando estén en la tierra de sus enemigos, yo no los rechazaré ni sentiré aversión por ellos hasta el punto de aniquilarlos y de anular mi alianza con ellos: porque yo soy el Señor, su Dios. | 44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God; |
| 45 Me acordaré en favor de ellos de la alianza que establecí con sus antepasados, con los que hice salir de Egipto a la vista de las naciones para ser su Dios. Yo, el Señor. | 45 but I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD." |
| 46 Estos son los preceptos, las leyes y las instrucciones que el Señor estableció entre él y los israelitas sobre la montaña del Sinaí, por intermedio de Moisés. | 46 These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the LORD made between him and the people of Israel on Mount Sinai by Moses. |
