1 El Señor dijo a Moisés:	1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 Cuando haya que declarar puro a un leproso, se aplicará el siguiente ritual: La persona será presentada al sacerdote.	2 This is the rite for a leper, when he is to be cleansed. He shall be brought to the priest,
3 Este saldrá fuera del campamento, y si ve que el leproso está realmente curado de su afección,	3 who, departing from the camp, when he has found the leprosy to be cleansed,
4 mandará traer, para la persona que va a ser purificada, dos pájaros vivos puros, un trozo de madera de cedro, una cinta de púrpura escarlata y un ramillete de hisopo.	4 shall instruct him who is to be purified to offer for himself two living sparrows, which it is lawful to eat, and cedar wood, and vermillion, and hyssop.
5 Luego mandará que uno de los pájaros sea inmolado sobre una vasija de barro, que contenga agua proveniente de un manantial.	5 And he shall order that one of the sparrows be immolated in an earthen vessel over living waters.
6 Entonces tomará el pájaro vivo, la madera de cedro, la púrpura escarlata y el hisopo, y los mojará en la sangre del pájaro inmolado sobre el agua del manantial.	6 But the other living one, with the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, he shall dip in the blood of the immolated sparrow.
7 Hará siete aspersiones sobre el que debe ser purificado de la lepra, y después de declararlo puro, dejará en libertad al pájaro vivo.	7 And he shall sprinkle him who is to be cleansed seven times, so that he may be purified justly. And he shall release the living sparrow, so that it may fly away into the field.
8 El que se purifica lavará su ropa, se afeitará todo el pelo, se bañará con agua, y quedará puro. después de esto podrá entrar en el campamento, pero tendrá que permanecer siete días fuera de su carpa.	8 And when the man will have washed his clothes, he shall shave all the hair from his body, and he shall be washed with water. And having been purified, he shall enter into the camp, only to this extent: that he may remain outside his own tent for seven days.
9 Al séptimo día se afeitará todo el pelo –el cabello, la barba, las cajas y todo el resto del pelo– volverá a lavar su ropa, bañará su cuerpo con agua, y quedará puro.	9 And on the seventh day he shall shave the hair of his head, and his beard, and his eyebrows, as well as the hair of his entire body. And having washed his clothes again, and his body,
10 Al octavo día, tomará tres corderos –dos machos sin defecto y una hembra de un año sin defecto– traerá tres décimas partes de una medida de harina de la mejor calidad, amasada con aceite, y un poco más de medio litro de aceite.	10 on the eighth day, he shall take two immaculate lambs, and a one-year-old female sheep without blemish, and three tenths of fine wheat flour, which has been sprinkled with oil, as a sacrifice, and separately, one twelfth hin of oil.
11 El sacerdote que realiza la purificación ubicará a la persona que se purifica, junto con sus ofrendas, a la entrada de la Carpa del Encuentro, delante del Señor.	11 And when the priest purifying the man has presented him and all these things in the sight of the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony,
12 Luego tomará uno de los corderos para ofrecerlo junto con el aceite, en sacrificio de reparación, y hará con ellos el gesto de presentación delante del Señor.	12 he shall take a lamb and offer it for transgression, with the twelfth hin of oil. And having offered all these before the Lord,
13 Inmolará el cordero en el lugar sagrado donde se inmolan las víctimas del sacrificio por el pecado y del holocausto. Y esta víctima de reparación, como la del sacrificio por el pecado, será para el sacerdote: es una cosa santísima.	13 he shall immolate the lamb, where the victim for sin is usually immolated with the holocaust, that is, in the holy place. For just as with the one for sin, so also the victim for transgression belongs to the priest. It is the Holy of holies.
14 Luego el sacerdote tomará sangre de la víctima de reparación, y la pondrá sobre el lóbulo de la oreja derecha del que se purifica, sobre el pulgar de su mano derecha y el pulgar de su pie derecho.	14 And taking some of the blood of the victim, which was immolated for transgression, the priest shall place it upon the tip of the right ear of him who is being cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and likewise the foot.
15 En seguida, tomará el medio litro de aceite y derramará una parte de él sobre la palma de su mano izquierda.	15 And he shall send some of the twelfth hin of oil into his own left hand,
16 Luego mojará un dedo de su mano derecha en el aceite que está en la palma de su mano izquierda, y hará con el dedo siete aspersiones de aceite delante del Señor.	16 and he shall dip his right finger in it, and he shall sprinkle it in the sight of the Lord seven times.
17 Después pondrá un poco del aceite que aún le queda en la mano sobre lóbulo de la oreja derecha de la persona que se purifica, sobre el pulgar de su mano derecha y el pulgar de su pie derecho, encima de la sangre del sacrificio de reparación.	17 But the oil which remains in his left hand, he shall pour over the tip of the right ear of him who is being cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand as well as the foot, and upon the blood which was shed for transgression,
18 Finalmente, el sacerdote derramará el resto del aceite sobre la cabeza del que se purifica. Así realizará el rito de expiación en favor de esa persona, delante del Señor.	18 and upon his head.
19 Entonces, el sacerdote ofrecerá un sacrificio por el pecado y hará el rito de expiación en favor de la persona que se purifica de su impureza. Después de esto, inmolará la víctima para un holocausto,	19 And he shall pray for him in the sight of the Lord, and he shall accomplish the sacrifice on behalf of sin. Then he shall immolate the holocaust,
20 y ofrecerá sobre el altar el holocausto y la oblación. Y cuando el sacerdote haya realizado el rito de expiación en favor de esa persona, esta quedará purificada.	20 and place it upon the altar with its libations, and the man will be duly cleansed.
21 Si la persona es pobre y carece de recursos suficientes, tomará un solo cordero como víctima de reparación, que será ofrecido con el gesto de presentación, a fin de realizar el rito de expiación en su favor. Al mismo tiempo, ofrecerá la décima parte de una medida de harina de la mejor calidad para una oblación, con un poco más de medio litro de aceite.	21 But if he is poor, and his hand is not able to find what has been said, he shall take a lamb as an offering for transgression, so that the priest may pray for him, and a tenth part of fine wheat flour sprinkled with oil, as a sacrifice, and a twelfth hin of oil,
22 y dos torcazas o dos pichones de paloma, según sus posibilidades: uno para el sacrificio por el pecado y otro para el holocausto.	22 and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, of which one may be for sin, and the other as a holocaust.
23 Al octavo día, presentará todo esto al sacerdote, para su purificación, a la entrada de la Carpa del Encuentro, delante del Señor.	23 And he shall offer them on the eighth day of his purification to the priest at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony in the sight of the Lord.
24 Entonces el sacerdote tomará el cordero del sacrificio de reparación y el medio litro de aceite, y los ofrecerá al Señor con el gesto de presentación.	24 And he, receiving the lamb for transgression, and the twelfth hin of oil, shall lift them up together.
25 Después de haber inmolado el cordero del sacrificio de reparación, el sacerdote tomará sangre de la víctima de reparación y la pondrá sobre el lóbulo de la oreja derecha del que se purifica, y sobre el pulgar de su mano derecha y el pulgar de su pie derecho.	25 And when the lamb has been immolated, he shall place some of its blood upon the tip of the right ear of him who is being cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, as well as the foot.
26 En seguida, derramará un poco de aceite sobre la palma de su mano izquierda,	26 Yet truly, he shall send part of the oil into his own left hand,
27 y con el dedo de su mano derecha hará siete aspersiones de aceite,	27 and dipping the finger of his right hand in it, he shall sprinkle it seven times before the Lord.
28 y pondrá un poco del aceite que tiene en su mano sobre el lóbulo de la oreja derecha de la persona que se purifica, y sobre el pulgar de su mano derecha y el pulgar de su pie derecho, en el mismo lugar donde puso la sangre de la víctima de reparación.	28 And he shall touch the tip of the right ear of him who is being cleansed, and the thumb of his right hand, as well as the foot, in the place of the blood which was shed for transgression.
29 Luego pondrá el resto del aceite que aún le queda en la mano sobre la cabeza de la persona que se purifica, para realizar el rito de expiación en favor de él, delante del Señor.	29 But the remaining part of the oil which is in his left hand, he shall send upon the head of the one being purified, to appease the Lord on his behalf.
30 Después ofrecerá las dos torcazas o los dos pichones de paloma –según hayan sido sus posibilidades–	30 And he shall offer a turtledove or a young pigeon,
31 uno como sacrificio por el pecado, y el otro como holocausto; este último irá acompañado de la oblación. De esta manera, el sacerdote practicará el rito de expiación delante del Señor, en favor de la persona que debe ser purificada.	31 one for transgression, and the other as a holocaust, with their libations.
32 Este será el ritual para la purificación del leproso que carece de recursos suficientes.	32 This is the sacrifice of a leper, who is not able to obtain all of the things concerning his cleansing.
33 El Señor dijo a Moisés y a Aarón:	33 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
34 Cuando ustedes entren en la tierra de Canaán –esa tierra que yo les daré en posesión– y cuando haya aparecer manchas de lepra en alguna de las casas del país que ustedes van a poseer,	34 When you will have entered into the land of Canaan, which I will give to you as a possession, if there is the mark of leprosy in a building,
35 el dueño de la casa irá a decir al sacerdote: «He visto en mi casa algo así como lepra».	35 he whose house it is shall go and report to the priest, saying: “It seems to me that the mark of leprosy is in my house.”
36 Antes de entrar a examinar las manchas, el sacerdote ordenará que la desocupen, para que nada de lo que hay en ella se vuelva impuro. Luego entrará a examinar la casa,	36 And he shall instruct them to carry all things out of the house, before he would enter it and see whether it is leprosy, lest all that is in the house become unclean. And after this, he shall enter to examine the leprosy of the house.
37 y si ve que las manchas formadas en las paredes son cavidades verduscas o rojizas, que aparecen más hundidas que el resto de la pared,	37 And when he will have seen in its walls something like little hollows, deformed with paleness or redness, and lower than the remaining surface,
38 el sacerdote saldrá a la puerta de la casa y la mantendrá clausurada durante siete días.	38 he shall exit by the door of the house, and immediately close it up for seven days.
39 Al séptimo día regresará, y si la mancha se ha extendido por las paredes de la casa,	39 And returning on the seventh day, he shall examine it. If he finds that the leprosy has spread,
40 mandará quitar las piedras manchadas y las hará arrojar fuera de la ciudad, a un lugar impuro.	40 he shall order the stones in which the leprosy is, to be dug out and cast outside the city in an unclean place,
41 Después hará rasquetear todo el interior de la casa, y el revoque que haya sido quitado será arrojado fuera de la ciudad, a un lugar impuro.	41 and that the house be scraped on the inside all around, and that the dust of the scrapings be scattered outside the city in an unclean place,
42 Luego tomarán otras piedras para reemplazar a las primeras y se preparará otra mezcla para revocar la casa.	42 and that other stones be put back, in place of those which had been taken away, and that the house be plastered with other mortar.
43 Pero si después de haber quitado las piedras, y de haber rasqueteado y revocado la casa, la mancha vuelve a aparecer,	43 But if, after the stones have been dug out, and the dust wiped away, and it is plastered with other clay,
44 el sacerdote entrará para someterla a un nuevo examen; y si la mancha se ha extendido por la casa, entonces se trata de lepra maligna: la casa es impura.	44 the priest, upon entering, will have seen that the leprosy has returned, and that the walls are sprinkled with spots, then it is a persistent leprosy and the house is unclean.
45 Esta será derribada, y sus piedras, su madera y todo el material serán llevados fuera de la ciudad, a un lugar impuro.	45 And so they shall promptly destroy it, and shall cast its stones and timber, and also all the dust, outside the town in an unclean place.
46 El que entró en la casa mientras estuvo clausurada será impuro hasta la tarde.	46 Whoever enters into the house when it is closed up shall be unclean until evening.
47 El que durmió en la casa deberá lavar su ropa, y lo mismo hará el que comió en ella.	47 And whoever will have slept in it, or eaten anything, shall wash his clothes.
48 Pero si el sacerdote, al examinar la mancha, ve que esta no se ha extendido por la casa después que fue revocada de nuevo, tendrá que declararla pura, porque la mancha ha desaparecido.	48 But if the priest, upon entering, will have seen that the leprosy has not spread in the house, after it had been newly plastered, he shall purify it, restoring it to health.
49 Luego tomará dos pájaros, un trozo de madera de cedro, una cinta de púrpura escarlata y un ramillete de hisopo, para eliminar el pecado de la casa.	49 And for its purification, he shall take two sparrows, and cedar wood, and vermillion, as well as hyssop,
50 Primero inmolará uno de los pájaros sobre una vasija de barro que contenga agua proveniente de un manantial.	50 and, having immolated one sparrow in an earthen vessel over living waters,
51 Después tomará la madera de cedro, el hisopo, la púrpura escarlata y el pájaro vivo: los sumergirá en la sangre del pájaro inmolado y en el agua del manantial, y hará siete aspersiones sobre la casa.	51 he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living sparrow, and he shall dip all these in the blood of the immolated sparrow, and also in the living water, and he shall sprinkle the house seven times.
52 Y una vez eliminado el pecado de la casa con la sangre del pájaro, con el agua del manantial, con el pájaro vivo, con la madera de cedro, con el hisopo y con la púrpura escarlata,	52 And he shall purify it as much with the blood of the sparrow as with the living water, and with the living sparrow, and the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the vermillion.
53 dejará en libertad al pájaro vivo, fuera de la ciudad, en pleno campo. Así realizará el rito de expiación por la casa, y esta quedará purificada.	53 And when he has released the sparrow to fly freely away into the field, he shall pray for the house, and it shall be justly cleansed.
54 Este es el ritual concerniente a toda clase de lepra: la tiña,	54 This is the law of every kind of leprosy and plague:
55 la lepra de la ropa y de las casas,	55 of the leprosy of garments and houses,
56 la hinchazón, la erupción y las manchas lustrosas.	56 of scars and erupting pustules, of a shining spot, when the appearance is also variegated,
57 Así se podrá determinar cuándo se es puro y cuándo impuro. Este es el ritual concerniente a la lepra.	57 so that it can be known at what time a thing is clean or unclean.
