1 Después de consultar a los jefes de mil y de cien hombres y a todos los oficiales,	1 After David had taken counsel with his commanders of thousands and of hundreds, that is to say, with every one of his leaders,
2 David dijo a toda la asamblea de Israel: «Si a ustedes les parece bien y si el Señor, nuestro Dios, así lo decide, enviaremos mensajeros a nuestros hermanos que han quedado en todas las regiones de Israel y, además, a los sacerdotes y levitas en sus ciudades y poblados, a fin de que se reúnan con nosotros.	2 he said to the whole assembly of Israel: "If it seems good to you, and is so decreed by the LORD our God, let us summon the rest of our brethren from all the districts of Israel, and also the priests and the Levites from their cities with pasture lands, that they may join us;
3 Entonces traeremos junto a nosotros el Arca de nuestro Dios, ya que no nos hemos preocupado de ella en los tiempos de Saúl».	3 and let us bring the ark of our God here among us, for in the days of Saul we did not visit it."
4 Toda la asamblea resolvió hacerlo así, porque el pueblo entero dio su aprobación.	4 And the whole assembly agreed to do this, for the idea was pleasing to all the people.
5 David reunió a todo Israel, desde el Torrente de Egipto hasta la Entrada de Jamat, para traer el Arca de Dios desde Quiriat Iearim.	5 Then David assembled all Israel, from Shihor of Egypt to Labo of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6 Luego se dirigió con todo Israel a Baalá, a Quiriat Iearim, que está en Judá, para subir desde allí el Arca de Dios, que lleva el nombre del Señor, el que tiene su trono sobre los querubines.	6 David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, of Judah, to bring back the ark of God, which was known by the name "LORD enthroned upon the cherubim."
7 Pusieron el Arca de Dios sobre un carro nuevo y la llevaron desde la casa de Abinadab. Uzá y Ajió conducían el carro,	7 They transported the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab; Uzzah and Ahio were guiding the cart,
8 mientras David y todo Israel bailaban con todas sus fuerzas delante de Dios, cantando y tocando cítaras, arpas, tamboriles, címbalos y trompetas.	8 while David and all Israel danced before God with great enthusiasm, amid songs and music on lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9 Cuando llegaron a la era de Quidón, Uzá extendió su mano para sostener el Arca, porque los bueyes habían resbalado.	9 As they reached the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah stretched out his hand to steady the ark, for the oxen were upsetting it.
10 Entonces la ira del Señor se encendió contra Uzá y lo hirió de muerte por haber extendido su mano hacia el Arca, y Uzá murió allí mismo delante de Dios.	10 Then the LORD became angry with Uzzah and struck him; he died there in God's presence, because he had laid his hand on the ark.
11 David se conmovió, porque el Señor había acometido contra Uzá, y aquel lugar se llamó Peres Uzá –que significa «Brecha de Uzá»– hasta el día de hoy.	11 David was disturbed because the LORD'S anger had broken out against Uzzah. Therefore that place has been called Perez-uzza even to this day.
12 Aquel día David tuvo miedo de Dios, y dijo: «¿Cómo voy a llevar a mi casa el Arca de Dios?».	12 David was now afraid of God, and he said, "How can I bring the ark of God with me?"
13 Y no trasladó el Arca a su casa, a la Ciudad de David, sino que mandó que la llevaran a la casa de Obededom de Gat.	13 Therefore he did not take the ark back with him to the City of David, but he took it instead to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14 El Arca de Dios permaneció tres meses en la casa de Obededom. Y el Señor bendijo la casa de Obededom y todos sus bienes.	14 The ark of God remained in the house of Obed-edom with his family for three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom's household and all that he possessed.
