1 El profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de la comunidad de profetas y le dijo: «Ajústate el cinturón, toma contigo este frasco de aceite y ve a Ramot de Galaad.	1 The prophet Elisha called one of the guild prophets and said to him: "Gird your loins, take this flask of oil with you, and go to Ramoth-gilead.
2 Cuando llegues, busca allí a Jehú, hijo de Josafat, hijo de Nimsí. Luego entra, sácalo de en medio de sus camaradas y llévalo a la habitación más retirada.	2 When you get there, look for Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Enter and take him away from his companions into an inner chamber.
3 Toma entonces el frasco de aceite, derrámalo sobre su cabeza y di: Así habla el Señor: Yo te he ungido rey de Israel. Después, abre la puerta y escapa sin detenerte».	3 From the flask you have, pour oil on his head, and say, 'Thus says the LORD: I anoint you king over Israel.' Then open the door and flee without delay."
4 El joven profeta partió en seguida para Ramot de Galaad.	4 The young man (the guild prophet) went to Ramoth-gilead.
5 Al llegar, encontró a los jefes del ejército que estaban reunidos, y dijo: «Tengo un mensaje para ti, jefe». «¿Para quién de nosotros?», preguntó Jehú. El respondió: «Para ti, jefe».	5 When he arrived, the commanders of the army were in session. "I have a message for you, commander," he said. "For which one of us?" asked Jehu. "For you, commander," he answered.
6 Jehú se levantó y entró en la casa. Entonces el joven derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza y le dijo: «Así habla el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Yo te he ungido rey del pueblo del Señor, de Israel.	6 Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the young man poured the oil on his head and said, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: 'I anoint you king over the people of the LORD, over Israel.
7 Tú acabarás con la familia de Ajab, tu señor, y yo vengaré la sangre de mis servidores los profetas y la sangre de todos los servidores del Señor derramada por la mano de Jezabel.	7 You shall destroy the house of Ahab your master; thus will I avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the other servants of the LORD shed by Jezebel,
8 Toda la casa de Ajab perecerá: extirparé de la dinastía de Ajab a todos los varones, sean esclavos o libres en Israel.	8 and by all the rest of the family of Ahab. I will cut off every male in Ahab's line, whether slave or freeman in Israel.
9 Trataré a la casa de Ajab como a la casa de Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, y como a la casa de Basá, hijo de Ajías.	9 I will deal with the house of Ahab as I dealt with the house of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and with the house of Baasha, son of Ahijah.
10 En cuanto a Jezabel, los perros la devorarán en la parcela de Izreel, y nadie la sepultará». En seguida abrió la puerta y escapó.	10 Dogs shall devour Jezebel at the confines of Jezreel, so that no one can bury her.'" Then he opened the door and fled.
11 Cuando Jehú salió a reunirse con los oficiales de su señor, le preguntaron: «¿Hay alguna novedad? ¿Para qué vino a verte ese exaltado?». El les respondió: «Ustedes conocen a ese hombre y su centinela:.	11 When Jehu rejoined his master's servants, they asked him, "Is all well? Why did that madman come to you?" You know that kind of man and his talk, he replied.
12 Ellos dijeron: «No es cierto. Explícanos qué pasa». Entonces él les replicó: «Esto es todo lo que me dijo: Así habla el Señor: Yo te he ungido rey de Israel».	12 But they said, "Not at all! Come, tell us." So he told them what the young man had said to him, and finally, "Thus says the LORD: 'I anoint you king over Israel.'"
13 Inmediatamente, ellos tomaron cada uno su manto y los tendieron a sus pies, encima de las gradas. Luego tocaron la trompeta y gritaron: «¡Jehú es rey!».	13 At once each took his garment, spread it under Jehu on the bare steps, blew the trumpet, and cried out, "Jehu is king!"
14 Jehú, hijo de Josafat, hijo de Nimsí, conspiró contra Joram. Este, con todo Israel, estaba defendiendo a Ramot, de Galaad contra Jazael, rey de Aram,	14 Thus Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, formed a conspiracy against Joram. Joram, with all Israel, had been besieging Ramoth-gilead against Hazael, king of Aram,
15 pero tuvo que volver a Izreel para hacerse curar de las heridas que le habían infligido los arameos, mientras combatía contra Jazael, rey de Aram. Jehú dijo: «Si realmente están de acuerdo, que nadie escape de la ciudad para llevar la noticia a Izreel».	15 but had returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him in the battle against Hazael, king of Aram. "If you are truly with me," Jehu said, "see that no one escapes from the city to report in Jezreel."
16 Luego subió a su carro y partió para Izreel, porque allí guardaba cama Joram, y Ocozías, rey de Judá, había bajado a visitarlo.	16 Then Jehu mounted his chariot and drove to Jezreel, where Joram lay ill and Ahaziah, king of Judah, had come to visit him.
17 El centinela que estaba apostado en la torre de Izreel, al ver venir la tropa, dijo: «Veo una tropa». Joram ordenó: «Toma un jinete y envíalo a preguntar si todo va bien».	17 The watchman standing on the tower in Jezreel saw the troop of Jehu coming and reported, "I see chariots." "Get a driver," Joram said, "and send him to meet them and to ask whether all is well."
18 El jinete partió al encuentro de Jehú y dijo: «Así habla el rey: ¿Va todo bien?». Jehú replicó: «¿Qué te importa a ti si todo va bien? Colócate ahí detrás». El centinela, mientras tanto, avisó: «El mensajero los alcanzó, pero no regresa».	18 So a driver went out to meet him and said, "The king asks whether all is well." "What does it matter to you how things are?" Jehu said. "Get behind me." The watchman reported to the king, "The messenger has reached them, but is not returning."
19 El rey envió un segundo jinete, que los alcanzó y dijo: «Así habla el rey: ¿Va todo bien?». Jehú replicó: «¿Que te importa a ti si toda va bien? Colócate ahí detrás».	19 Joram sent a second driver, who went to them and said, "The king asks whether all is well." "What does it matter to you how things are?" Jehu replied. "Get behind me."
20 «El centinela volvió a avisar: «Los ha alcanzado, pero no regresa. Por el modo de conducir, parece Jehú, porque maneja como un loco».	20 The watchman reported, "The messenger has reached them, but is not returning. The driving is like that of Jehu, son of Nimshi, in its fury."
21 Joram ordenó: «¡Enganchen mi carro!». Cuando lo engancharon, Joram, rey de Israel, y Ocozías, rey de Judá, salieron cada uno en su carro al encuentro de Jehú. Lo encontraron en la parcela de Nabot de Izreel,	21 "Prepare my chariot," said Joram. When they had done so, Joram, king of Israel, and Ahaziah, king of Judah, set out, each in his own chariot, to meet Jehu. They reached him near the field of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 y apenas Joram vio a Jehú, dijo: «¿Te va bien, Jehú?». Este respondió: «¿Cómo me va a ir bien, mientras duren las prostituciones de tu madre Jezabel y sus innumerables brujerías?».	22 When Joram recognized Jehu, he asked, "Is all well, Jehu?" "How can all be well," Jehu replied, "as long as the many fornications and witchcrafts of your mother Jezebel continue?"
23 Joram volvió las riendas y huyó, diciendo a Ocozías: «¡Traición, Ocozías!».	23 Joram reined about and fled, crying to Ahaziah, "Treason, Ahaziah!"
24 Pero Jehú, que había tendido su arco, hirió a Joram en plena espalda; la flecha le atravesó el corazón, y él se desplomó en su carro.	24 But Jehu drew his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders, so that the arrow went through his heart and he collapsed in his chariot.
25 Entonces Jehú dijo a Bidcar, su escudero: «Levántalo y arrójalo en la parcela del campo de Nabot el izreelita. Acuérdate que cuanto tú y yo cabalgábamos a la par, detrás de tu padre Ajab, el Señor pronunció contra él esta sentencia:	25 Then Jehu said to his adjutant Bidkar, "Take him and throw him into the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. For I remember that when we were driving teams behind his father Ahab, the LORD delivered this oracle against him:
26 ¿No he visto ayer la sangre de Nabot y la sangre de sus hijos? –oráculo del Señor–. Yo te daré tu merecido en ese mismo campo –oráculo del Señor–. Ahora, levántalo y arrójalo en esta parcela, conforme a la palabra del Señor».	26 'As surely as I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,' says the LORD, 'I will repay you for it in that very plot of ground, says the LORD.' So now take him into this plot of ground, in keeping with the word of the LORD."
27 Al ver esto, Ocozías, rey de Judá, huyó por el camino de Bet Hagán. Jehú se lanzó en persecución de él, y ordenó: «¡Hiéranlo también a él!». Lo hirieron sobre su carro, en la cuesta de Gur, que está cerca de Ibleam, y él huyó a Meguido, donde murió.	27 Seeing what was happening, Ahaziah, king of Judah, fled toward Beth-haggan. Jehu pursued him, shouting, "Kill him too!" And they pierced him as he rode through the pass of Gur near Ibleam. He continued his flight as far as Megiddo and died there.
28 Sus servidores lo trasladaron en un carro a Jerusalén, y lo sepultaron en su tumba, con sus padres, en la Ciudad de David.	28 His servants brought him in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in the tomb of his ancestors in the City of David.
29 Fue en el undécimo año de Joram, hijo de Ajab, cuando Ocozías había comenzado a reinar en Judá.	29 Ahaziah had become king of Judah in the eleventh year of Joram, son of Ahab.
30 Jehú llegó a Izreel. Cuando se enteró Jezabel, se pintó los ojos, se arregló el cabello y se asomó por la ventana.	30 When Jezebel learned that Jehu had arrived in Jezreel, she shadowed her eyes, adorned her hair, and looked down from her window.
31 En el momento en que Jehú franqueaba la puerta de la ciudad, ella le dijo: «¿Cómo te va, Zimrí, asesino de su señor?»	31 As Jehu came through the gate, she cried out, "Is all well, Zimri, murderer of your master?"
32 Jehú alzó la cabeza hacia la ventana y exclamó: «¿Quién está conmigo? ¿Quién?». Dos o tres eunucos se inclinaron hacia él,	32 Jehu looked up to the window and shouted, "Who is on my side? Anyone?" At this, two or three eunuchs looked down toward him.
33 y él les dijo: «¡Tírenla abajo!». Ellos la tiraron abajo, y su sangre salpicó la pared y a los caballos, que la pisotearon.	33 "Throw her down," he ordered. They threw her down, and some of her blood spurted against the wall and against the horses. Jehu rode in over her body
34 Jehú entró, comió y bebió, y luego dijo: «Encárguense de esta maldita y sepúltenla, porque al fin de cuentas es hija del rey».	34 and, after eating and drinking, he said: "Attend to that accursed woman and bury her; after all, she was a king's daughter."
35 Pero cuando fueron a sepultarla, no encontraron más que el cráneo, los pies y las manos.	35 But when they went to bury her, they found nothing of her but the skull, the feet, and the hands.
36 Volvieron a comunicárselo a Jehú, y él dijo: «Así se cumple la palabra que el Señor pronunció por medio de Elías, el tisbita. En la parcela de Izreel;	36 They returned to Jehu, and when they told him, he said, "This is the sentence which the LORD pronounced through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: 'In the confines of Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel.
37 y el cadáver de Jezabel será como estiércol sobre los campos, de manera que no se podrá decir: Es Jezabel».	37 The corpse of Jezebel shall be like dung in the field in the confines of Jezreel, so that no one can say: This was Jezebel.'"
