Esodo 24

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E certo a Moisè disse: vieni su al Signore, tu ed Aaron, Nadab ed Abiu, e Lxx vecchi d'Israel; e adorerete dalla lunga.	1 He then said to Moses, 'Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of theelders of Israel and bow down at a distance.
2 E solo Moisè venga su al Signore; e quelli non si approssimeranno, nè il popolo salga con lui.	2 Moses alone will approach Yahweh; the others wil not approach, nor wil the people come up withhim.'
3 Venne adunque Moisè, e narrò alla gente tutte le parole del Signore (le quali ha dette) e li giudicii; e rispose tutto il popolo con una voce: tutto quello hae parlato il Signore, faremo.	3 Moses went and told the people al Yahweh's words and al the laws, and al the people answered withone voice, 'All the words Yahweh has spoken we wil carry out!'
4 E scrisse Moisè tutte le parole del Signore; e la mattina, levandosi, edificò l'altare alla radice del monte, e dodici titoli (cioè nomi) per le XII tribù d'Israel.	4 Moses put al Yahweh's words into writing, and early next morning he built an altar at the foot of themountain, with twelve standing-stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 E mandd giovani de' figliuoli d'Israel, e offersero li sacrificii; e sacrificarono le vittime pacifiche al Signore (XII), vitelli.	5 Then he sent certain young Israelites to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice bul ocks to Yahweh ascommunion sacrifices.
6 E tolse Moisè la mezza parte del sangue, e miselo nella coppa; e l'altra parte sparse sopra l'altare.	6 Moses then took half the blood and put it into basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.
7 E togliendo lo volume del patto (cioè il libro) lesse udendo il popolo; li quali dissero: ogni cosa che ha detto lo Signore faremo, e saremo obbedienti.	7 Then, taking the Book of the Covenant, he read it to the listening people, who then said, 'We shall do everything that Yahweh has said; we shall obey.'
8 Ma lui, tolto lo sangue, gittollo sopra lo popolo, e disse; questo si è lo sangue del patto, il quale ha pattuito lo Signore a voi sopra tutte queste parole (le quali seguitano, dette a Moisè da Dio no stro Signore).	8 Moses then took the blood and sprinkled it over the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenantwhich Yahweh has made with you, entailing all these stipulations.'
9 Andarono Moisè ed Aaron e Nadab e Abiu e Lxx de' più vecchi d'Israel;	9 Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders of Israel then went up,
10 e viddero lo Dio d'Israel, e sotto li piedi suoi viddero quasi lo lavoro di pietra di zaffiro, e quasi cielo quando è sereno.	10 and they saw the God of Israel beneath whose feet there was what looked like a sapphire pavementpure as the heavens themselves,
11 Nè sopra loro delli figliuoli d'Israel, i quali da lungi erano fuggiti, miseno la mano sua; e vid dero Iddio, e mangiarono e beverono.	11 but he did no harm to the Israelite notables; they actually gazed on God and then ate and drank.
12 E disse lo Signore a Moisè: vieni (a me) nel monte e istà quivi; ed io darò a te due tavole di pietra, e la legge e li comandamenti li quali io hoe scritti, che tu gl'insegni alli figliuoli d'Israel.	12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stonetablets -- the law and the commandment -- which I have written for their instruction.'
13 E levaronsi Moisè e Iosuè suo ministro; e andando Moisè nel monte di Dio,	13 Moses made ready, with Joshua his assistant, and they went up the mountain of God.
14 alli più vecchi disse: aspettate insino che noi ritorniamo. Voi avete Aaron ed Ur con voi; se alcuna questione nascesse tra voi, portatele a loro.	14 He said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you;if anyone has any matter to settle, let him go to them.'
15 E quando saliva Moisè (nel monte), coperse una nuvola lo monte.	15 Moses then went up the mountain. Cloud covered the mountain.
16 E abitò la gloria del Signore sopra Sinai, coprendo quello la nuvola per ispazio di sei dì; ma il settimo chiamò lui nel mezzo dell' oscurità.	16 The glory of Yahweh rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh dayYahweh cal ed to Moses from inside the cloud.
17 Ed era la specie della gloria del Signore, quasi come fuoco ardente, sopra la cima del monte nel cospetto de' figliuoli d'Israel.	17 To the watching Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a devouring fire on the mountain top.
18 E venuto Moisè nel mezzo della nebbia, salie nel monte, e stettevi xL dì e xL notti.	18 Moses went right into the cloud and went on up the mountain. Moses stayed on the mountain for fortydays and forty nights.
