1 Avendo Arfasat, re de' Medi, soggiogato (e sottoposto) molta gente allo imperio suo, e avendo edificato una città potentissima, la quale appelloe per nome Ecbatanis,	1 Now Arphaxad king of the Medes had brought many nations under his dominions, and he built a very strong city, which he called Ecbatana,
2 e fece le sue mura di pietre quadrate e polite, le quali erano cubiti settanta nella larghezza sua, ed erano per altezza cubiti trenta, e fece a questo muro le torri sue di altezza di cento cubiti.	2 Of stones squared and hewed: he made the walls thereof seventy cubits broad, and thirty cubits high, and the towers thereof he made a hundred cubits high. But on the square of them, each side was extended the space of twenty feet.
3 E ciascuno lato, per lo loro quadro, era di venti piedi di spazio; e pose le sue porte nell' altezza delle torri.	3 And he made the gates thereof according to the height of the towers:
4 E gloriavasi quasi come potente nello esercito suo, e gloriavasi nella gloria delle sue carra.	4 And he gloried as a mighty one in the force of his army and in the glory of his chariots.
5 Nel duodecimo anno del suo regno, Nabucodonosor re degli Assirii, il quale regnava nella città grande di Ninive, combatteo contro ad Arfasat, e isconfisselo	5 Now in the twelfth year of his reign, Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians, who reigned in Ninive the great city, fought against Arphaxad and overcame him,
6 nel campo grande chiamato Ragau fra il fiume Eufrate e il (fiume chiamato) Tigris e Iadason, nel campo del re delli Elicori, chiamato Erioc.	6 In the great plain which is called Ragua, about the Euphrates, and the Tigris, and the Jadason, in the plain of Erioch the king of the Elicians.
7 Allora fu esaltato il regno di Nabucodonosor, ed elevossi il cuore suo; e mandoe a tutti quelli che abitavano in Cilicia e Damasco e nel Libano,	7 Then was the kingdom of Nabuchodonosor exalted, and his heart was elevated: and he sent to all that dwelt in Cilicia and Damascus, and Libanus,
8 e alle genti le quali sono nel Carmelo e in Cedar, e a quelli che abitavano in Galilea nel campo grande Esdrelon,	8 And to the nations that are in Carmelus, and Cedar, and to the inhabitants of Galilee in the great plain of Asdrelon,
9 e a tutti quelli che erano in Samaria, e oltre il fiume Giordano insino in Ierusalem, e a tutta la terra di Iesse, persino che pervenisse al monte di Etiopia.	9 And to all that were in Samaria, and beyond the river Jordan even to Jerusalem, and all the land of Jesse till you come to the borders of Ethiopia.
10 A tutti questi mandò nuncii Nabucodonosor re degli Assirii.	10 To all these Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians, sent messengers:
11 I quali tutti, di uno animo, li contradissero e rimandorgli vôti (senza la sua intenzione) e cacciorli sanza onore.	11 But they all with one mind refused, and sent them back empty, and rejected them without honour.
12 Allora s' indignoe Nabucodonosor re a tutte quelle terre, e giurò per lo regno e per lo trono suo, che si vendicherebbe di tutte queste cose.	12 Then king Nabuchodonosor being angry against all that land, swore by his throne and kingdom that he would revenge himself of all those countries.
