1 Adunque compiuti sono li cieli e la terra, e ogni loro adornamento.	1 So the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the furniture of them.
2 E compiè Iddio, lo dì settimo, il suo lavorio ch' egli avea fatto; e di tutto il lavorio, ch' egli avea fatto, lo di settimo si riposoe.	2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.
3 E benedisse lo die settimo, e santificoe quello; perciò che in quello die sì cessoe da tutto il lavorio suo, il quale creoe Iddio acciò che si facesse (questo fue il sabbato).	3 And he blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 Queste sono le generazioni del cielo e della terra, quando create sono nel die nel quale fece lo Signore Iddio lo cielo e la terra,	4 These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth:
5 ed ogni cosa verzicante del campo, innanzi che nascesse della terra, ed ogni erba della regione sua, innanzi che germinasse: in verità ancora non avea il Signore Iddio piovuto sopra la terra, e ancora non era l'uomo il quale operasse la terra.	5 And every plant of the field before it spring up in the earth, and every herb of the ground before it grew: for the Lord God had not rained upon the earth; and there was not a man to till the earth.
6 Ma una fontana saliva, e bagnava tutte le cose sopra la faccia della terra.	6 But a spring rose out the earth, watering all the surface of the earth.
7 Dunque formoe il Signore Iddio l'uomo di fango di terra, e fue fatto; e soffiò Iddio nella faccia sua lo spirito della vita, e fatto è uomo in anima vivente.	7 And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
8 Lo Signore Iddio avea piantato in verità il paradiso della dilettanza dal cominciamento di prima; nel quale pose l'uomo ch' egli avea formato.	8 And the Lord God had planted a paradise of pleasure from the beginning: wherein he placed man whom he had formed.
9 Produsse in verità il Signore Iddio della terra ogni legno bello a vedere, e ad usarlo soave; ancora lo legno della vita nel mezzo del paradiso, e lo legno della sapienza di bene e di male.	9 And the Lord God brought forth of the ground all manner of trees, fair to behold, and pleasant to eat of: the tree of life also in the midst of paradise: and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10 Ed uno fiume veniva dal luogo della dilettanza a bagnare il paradiso; il quale quindi si di vide in quattro capi.	10 And a river went out the place of pleasure to water paradise, which from thence is divided into four heads.
11 Il nome dell' uno è Fison; quegli è quello che circuisce tutta la terra di Evilat, dove nasce l'oro.	11 The name of the one is Phison: that is it which compasseth all the land of Hevilath, where gold groweth.
12 E quell'oro di quella terra è ottimo; e qui si trova Bdelium e la pietra onichina.	12 And the gold of that land is very good: there is found bdellium, and the onyx stone.
13 Il nome del fiume secondo si è Geon; egli è quello che circuisce ogni terra di Etiopia.	13 And the name of the second river is Gehon: the same is it that compasseth all the land of Ethiopia
14 Il nome del fiume terzo è Tigris, che è contra gli Assiri. Lo fiume quarto si è Eufrate.	14 And the name of the third river is Tigris: the same passeth along by the Assyrians. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
15 Portò adunque il Signore Iddio l'uomo, e pose lui nel paradiso della dilettanza, acciò che quello operasse e custodisse quello.	15 And the Lord God took man, and put him into the paradise for pleasure, to dress it, and keep it.
16 E comandò a lui dicendo: Adam, d'ogni pomo di legno del paradiso manduca.	16 And he commanded him, saying: Of every tree of paradise thou shalt eat:
17 Ma del pomo della scienza del bene e del male non manducherai tu; chè in veritade ti dico,che qualunque dì tu n'averai mangiato (cioè di quello ch' io ti vieto di mangiare) di morte morrai.	17 But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. for in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death.
18 Disse in verità poi lo Signore Iddio: non è bene che l'uomo sia solo; facciamo adiutorio a lui, simigliante a sé.	18 And the Lord God said: It is not good for man to be alone: let us make him a help like unto himself.
19 Formati adunque lo Signore Iddio tutti gli animali della terra, e tutti gli volativi del cielo, gli menò Iddio dinanzi ad Adam, acciò ch' egli vedesse come gli chiamasse. Ogni cosa in verità, che chiamoe Adam dell' anima vivente, quello è il nome suo.	19 And the Lord God having formed out of the ground all the beasts of the earth, and all the fowls of the air, brought them to Adam to see what he would call them: for whatsoever Adam called any living creature the same is its name.
20 E sì appellò Adam per suoi nomi tutti gli animali e tutti gli volativi del cielo e tutte le bestie della terra. Adam non si trova in verità aiuto simile a lui.	20 And Adam called all the beasts by their names, and all the fowls of the air, and all the cattle of the field: but for Adam there was not found a helper like himself.
21 Mise adunque lo Signore Iddio il sonno in Adam. Ed essendo addormentato, Iddio tolse una delle costole sue, ed ivi donde la trasse rempiè di carne.	21 Then the Lord God cast a deep sleep upon Adam: and when he was fast asleep, he took one of his ribs, and filled up flesh for it.
22 Adunque edificoe lo Signore Iddio, della costola ch' egli avea tolta da Adam, la femina; e me nolla ad Adam.	22 And the Lord God built the rib which he took from Adam into a woman: and brought her to Adam.
23 E disse Adam: questa cosa eguale è ossa dell' ossa mie, e carne della carne mia; questa fie chiamata virago, impercio che dell' uomo è fatta.	23 And Adam said: This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.
24 Per la qual cosa abbandonerà l'uomo lo suo padre e madre, ed accosterassi alla moglie sua; e saranno due in una carne.	24 Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh.
25 Costoro ciascuno era ignudo, cioè Adam e la moglie sua, e non si vergognavano.	25 And they were both naked: to wit, Adam and his wife: and were not ashamed.
