1 Working together, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.	1 E poiché siamo suoi collaboratori, vi esortiamo a non accogliere invano la grazia di Dio.
2 For he says: "In an acceptable time I heard you, and on the day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is a very acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.	2 Egli dice infatti: Al momento favorevole ti ho esaudito e nel giorno della salvezza ti ho aiutato. Ecco adesso il momento favorevole, ecco ora il giorno della salvezza!
3 We cause no one to stumble in anything, in order that no fault may be found with our ministry;	3 Noi non diamo motivo di scandalo a nessuno, perché non venga biasimato il nostro ministero;
4 on the contrary, in everything we commend ourselves as ministers of God, through much endurance, in afflictions, hardships, constraints,	4 ma in ogni cosa ci presentiamo come ministri di Dio, con molta fortezza, nelle tribolazioni, nelle angustie, nelle ansie,
5 beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, vigils, fasts;	5 nelle percosse, nelle carceri, nelle sommosse, nelle fatiche, nelle veglie, nei digiuni;
6 by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, in a holy spirit, in unfeigned love,	6 con purezza, sapienza, longanimità, benevolenza, spirito di santità, amore sincero;
7 in truthful speech, in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness at the right and at the left;	7 con parole di verità, con la potenza di Dio; con le armi della giustizia nella destra e nella sinistra;
8 through glory and dishonor, insult and praise. We are treated as deceivers and yet are truthful;	8 nella gloria e nel disprezzo, nella cattiva fama e nella buona; ritenuti mendaci e invece veritieri;
9 as unrecognized and yet acknowledged; as dying and behold we live; as chastised and yet not put to death;	9 come ignoti, eppure conosciuti; moribondi, eppure viviamo; castigati, ma non messi a morte;
10 as sorrowful yet always rejoicing; as poor yet enriching many; as having nothing and yet possessing all things.	10 afflitti, eppure sempre lieti; poveri, mentre arricchiamo molti; gente che non ha nulla, mentre possediamo tutto!
11 We have spoken frankly to you, Corinthians; our heart is open wide.	11 La nostra bocca vi ha parlato apertamente e il nostro cuore si è dilatato per voi, o Corinzi.
12 You are not constrained by us; you are constrained by your own affections.	12 Non siete davvero allo stretto in noi; è nei vostri cuori che state allo stretto.
13 As recompense in kind (I speak as to my children), be open yourselves.	13 Rendeteci il contraccambio! Parlo come a figli, dilatate il cuore anche voi!
14 Do not be yoked with those who are different, with unbelievers. For what partnership do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?	14 Non lasciatevi legare al giogo estraneo degli infedeli. Quale rapporto ci può essere tra la giustizia e l'empietà, o quale comunione tra la luce e le tenebre?
15 What accord has Christ with Beliar? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?	15 Quale armonia tra Cristo e Beliar, quale società tra un fedele e un infedele,
16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said: "I will live with them and move among them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people.	16 quale accordo tra il tempio di Dio e gli idoli? Perché noi siamo il tempio del Dio vivente, come egli ha detto: Abiterò e camminerò in mezzo a loro, e sarò il loro Dio ed essi il mio popolo.
17 Therefore, come forth from them and be separate," says the Lord, "and touch nothing unclean; then I will receive you	17 Perciò uscite di mezzo a loro e mettetevi in disparte, dice il Signore, non toccate nulla d'impuro. E io vi accoglierò
18 and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty."	18 e sarò per voi un padre, e voi sarete per me figli e figlie, dice il Signore onnipotente.
