Jonah 2

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 But the LORD sent a large fish, that swallowed Jonah; and he remained in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.	1 El Señor hizo que un gran pez se tragara a Jonás, y este permaneció en el vientre el pez tres días y tres noches.
2 From the belly of the fish Jonah said this prayer to the LORD, his God:	2 Entonces Jonás oró al Señor, su Dios, desde el vientre del pez,
3 Out of my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me; From the midst of the nether world I cried for help, and you heard my voice.	3 diciendo: «Desde mi angustia invoqué al Señor, y él me respondió; desde el seno del Abismo, pedí auxilio, y tú escuchaste mi voz.
4 For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the sea, and the flood enveloped me; All your breakers and your billows passed over me.	4 Tú me arrojaste a lo más profundo, al medio del mar: la corriente me envolvía, ¡todos tus torrentes y tus olas pasaron sobre mí!
5 Then I said, "I am banished from your sight! yet would I again look upon your holy temple."	5 Entonces dije: He sido arrojado lejos de tus ojos, pero yo seguiré mirando hacia tu santo Templo.
6 The waters swirled about me, threatening my life; the abyss enveloped me; seaweed clung about my head.	6 Las aguas me rodeaban hasta la garganta y el Abismo me cercaba; las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
7 Down I went to the roots of the mountains; the bars of the nether world were closing behind me forever, But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD, my God.	7 Yo bajé hasta las raíces de las montañas: sobre mí se cerraron para siempre los cerrojos de la tierra; pero tú me hiciste subir vivo de la Fosa, Señor, Dios mío.
8 When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; My prayer reached you in your holy temple.	8 Cuando mi alma desfallecía, me acordé del Señor, y mi oración llegó hasta ti, hasta tu santo Templo.
9 Those who worship vain idols forsake their source of mercy.	9 Los que veneran ídolos vanos abandonan su fidelidad,
10 But I, with resounding praise, will sacrifice to you; What I have vowed I will pay: deliverance is from the LORD.	10 pero yo, en acción de gracias, te ofreceré sacrificios y cumpliré mis votos: ¡La salvación viene del Señor!».
11 Then the LORD commanded the fish to spew Jonah upon the shore.	11 Entonces el Señor dio una orden al pez, y este arrojó a Jonás sobre la tierra firme.
