1 Akkor a Lélek elvezette Jézust a pusztába, hogy megkísértse az ördög.	1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 Miután negyven nap és negyven éjjel böjtölt, végül megéhezett.	2 And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry.
3 Odajött hozzá a kísértő és ezt mondta neki: »Ha Isten Fia vagy, mondd, hogy ezek a kövek legyenek kenyérré.«	3 And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread."
4 De ő ezt válaszolta: »Írva van: ‘Nem csak kenyérrel él az ember, hanem minden igével, amely az Isten szájából származik’« .	4 But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"

8 Azután magával vitte őt az ördög egy igen magas hegyre. Megmutatta neki a világ összes országát és azok dicsőségét,	8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them;
9 majd azt mondta neki: »Ezeket mind neked adom, ha leborulva imádsz engem.«	9 and he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me."
10 Jézus azt felelte neki: »Távozz, Sátán! Mert írva van: ‘Uradat, Istenedet imádd, és csak neki szolgálj’« .	10 Then Jesus said to him, "Begone, Satan! for it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"
11 Akkor elhagyta őt az ördög, és íme, angyalok jöttek hozzá és szolgáltak neki.	11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
12 Amikor Jézus meghallotta, hogy Jánost börtönbe vetették, visszavonult Galileába.	12 Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee;

18 Amint elhaladt a Galileai tenger mellett, látott két testvért: Simont, akit Péternek hívtak, és Andrást, a testvérét, amint körhálót vetettek a tengerbe; halászok voltak ugyanis.	18 As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 Azt mondta nekik: »Jöjjetek utánam, és én emberek halászává teszlek titeket!«	19 And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
20 Azok pedig azonnal elhagyták hálóikat és követték őt.	20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
21 Amikor onnan továbbment, látott másik két testvért: Jakabot, Zebedeus fiát, és testvérét, Jánost a hajóban Zebedeussal, az apjukkal, amint javították hálóikat. És őket is hívta.	21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.

23 Jézus ezután bejárta egész Galileát. Tanított a zsinagógáikban, hirdette az ország örömhírét, és meggyógyított minden betegséget és minden bajt a nép között.	23 And he went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people.
24 Elterjedt a híre egész Szíriában, és odavitték hozzá mindazokat, akik rosszul voltak, akiket különféle betegségek és kínok gyötörtek, az ördögtől megszállottakat, holdkórosokat és a bénákat, ő pedig meggyógyította őket.	24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.
25 Nagy tömeg követte őt Galileából és a Tízvárosból, Jeruzsálemből, Júdeából és a Jordánon túlról.	25 And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
