1 Paulo, chiamato apostolo di Iesù Cristo per volontà di Dio, e il suo fratello Sostene,	1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,
2 (manda salute) alli fratelli della Chiesa di Dio, la qual è in Corinto, a coloro che son santificati in Iesù Cristo, chiamati santi, con tutti quelli che invocano il nome del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, in ogni loro luogo e nostro.	2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.
3 Grazia sia a voi, e pace da Dio padre, e dal Signore Iesù Cristo.	3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Grazie faccio a Dio mio sempre per voi nella grazia di Dio, la qual è data a voi in Iesù Cristo.	4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;
5 Imperò che in tutte le cose siete fatti ricchi in lui, in ogni parola e in ogni scienza;	5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;
6 sì come la testimonianza di Cristo è confermata in voi;	6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.
7 in tal guisa che non avete meno alcuna cosa in ogni grazia, voi che aspettate la revelazione del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo.	7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;
8 Il qual confermerà voi insino alla fine senza peccato, nel dì dell' avvenimento del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo.	8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Dio sì è fedele, per il qual voi siete chiamati nella compagnia del suo figliuolo Iesù Cristo nostro Signore.	9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Fratelli, pregovi per il nome del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, che voi diciate tutti una medesima cosa, e non sia in voi partimento; e siate perfetti, in quello medesimo senno l'uno che l'altro, e in quella medesima scienza.	10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.
11 Chè significato fu a me di voi, fratelli miei, da coloro che sono in Cloe, che intra voi avete contenzioni.	11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.
12 E questo dice ciascuno di voi: io son di Paulo; io son di Apollo; (e l' altro dice:) io son di Cefe (cioè di Pietro, e l'altro dice): io son di Cristo.	12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'
13 Or è diviso Cristo? sarìa mai Paulo crocifisso per voi? Ovver siete voi battezzati nel nome di Paulo?	13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?
14 Grazie rendo a Dio, che niuno di voi battezzai, salvo Crispo e Gaio;	14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 chè niuno possa dire, che sia battezzato nel nome mio.	15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.
16 Battezzai ancora la magione di Stefana; non so se niuno degli altri battezzai.	16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.
17 Chè Cristo non mi mandò per battezzare, ma per predicare il suo evangelio; e non in sapienza di parole (vuole che io predichi), perchè la croce di. Cristo non isvanisca.	17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.
18 Certo a coloro che periscono [la parola della croce] pare stoltezza; ma a coloro che son salvati, cioè a noi, si è virtù di Dio.	18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.
19 Chè egli è scritto (e dice Dio per il profeta): confonderò la sapienza de' savii, e il scaltrimento di coloro che son scaltriti io rifiuterò.	19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.
20 Ove è il savio? ove è il scrivano? ove è l'inquisitore di questo secolo? non fece Dio stolta la saviezza di questo mondo?	20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?
21 Chè il mondo nella sapienza di Dio non cognobbe Dio per saviezza; e imperò piacque a Dio di salvare coloro che credono, per stoltizia di predicazione.	21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.
22 Imperò che li iudei dimandano pur miracoli, e i greci dimandano pur saviezza.	22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,
23 Ma noi predichiamo Cristo crucifisso, il quale a' iudei è scandalo, e a l'altre genti pare mattezza.	23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,
24 Ma a coloro che credono, e de' iudei e de' greci, Cristo sì è virtù e sapienza di Dio.	24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.
25 Chè quella cosa che a Dio è più stolta, alli uomini pare più savia; e quella cosa ch' è fragile a Dio, alli uomini è più forte.	25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.
26 Vedete, fratelli, il vostro chiamamento; chè non molti savii secondo la carne, non molti potenti, non molti di (grande sapere e di) grande gentilezza elesse Dio.	26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.
27 Ma quelle cose, che son stolte del mondo, elesse Dio.. per confondere (e vituperare) le forti cose.	27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,
28 E le vili cose e le dispregiate elesse Dio, e quelle che non paiono nulla, per distruggere quelle cose che si vedono grandi,	28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,
29 perchè non si gloriasse nel conspetto di Dio niuna persona.	29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.
30 E da lui siete vivi in Iesù Cristo, il qual è fatto a noi sapienza di Dio, e giustizia e santificazione e redenzione.	30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.
31 Chè si è quello ch' è scritto: chi si gloria, sia glorificato nel Signore.	31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.
