1 Nel principio era il Verbo, e il Verbo era appresso Iddio, e Iddio era il Verbo.	1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 Questo era nel principio appresso Iddio.	2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 Fatte sono per esso tutte le cose, e senza lui è fatto niente quello che è fatto.	3 All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made.
4 In lui era vita, e la vita era luce degli uomini.	4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 E la luce nelle tenebre rilucette; e le tenebre lei non compresono.	5 And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
6 Fu uno uomo mandato da Dio, il cui nome era Ioanne.	6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 Questo venne per testimonio, per dare testimonianza della luce, acciò che tutti credessero per lui.	7 This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him.
8 Non era egli la luce, ma era per dare testimonianza della luce.	8 He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light.
9 (Esso lume) era la vera luce, la quale illumina ogni uomo che viene in questo mondo.	9 That was the true light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world.
10 Egli era nel mondo, e il mondo fu fatto per lui, e il mondo non conobbe lui.	10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 Egli venne nella sua propria terra, e gli suoi non lo ricevettero.	11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 Ma quelli cotanti i quali lui ricevettero, diette a loro potestà di essere fatti figliuoli di Dio, a quelli che credettero nel nome suo.	12 But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name.
13 I quali non sono nati per sangue, nè per volontà di carne, nè per volontà dell' uomo, ma di Dio nati sono.	13 Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 E il Verbo è fatto carne, e abitò in noi; e abbiamo veduto la gloria sua, sì come gloria dell' Unigenito del Padre, pieno di grazia e di verità.	14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 Ioanne rende testimonianza di lui, e grida dicendo: questo era, il quale dissi: quello che dopo me verrà, egli è fatto inanzi di me, imperò ch' egli era prima di me.	15 John beareth witness of him, and crieth out, saying: This was he of whom I spoke: He that shall come after me, is preferred before me: because he was before me.
16 E tutti noi abbiamo tolto della sua pienezza, e la grazia per la grazia.	16 And of his fulness we all have received, and grace for grace.
17 Conciosia che la legge è data per Moisè; la grazia e la verità è fatta per Iesù Cristo.	17 For the law was given by Moses; grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
18 Già mai nullo vide Iddio; l' Unigenito Figliuolo, il quale è nel seno del Padre, egli l' ha narrato.	18 No man hath seen God at any time: the only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
19 E questo è il testimonio di Ioanne, quando mandorono gli giudei di Ierusalem a Ioanne gli sacerdoti e gli Leviti, acciò che gli dimandassero (chi) egli era, e giunti che furono a lui dissero): chi sei tu?	19 And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites to him, to ask him: Who art thou?
20 Ed egli confessò, e non negò ch' egli non era Cristo.	20 And he confessed, and did not deny: and he confessed: I am not the Christ.
21 Ed anche dimandaronlo (un' altra volta, e dissero): chi sei tu? Elia? Ed egli disse: no. (E loro dissero): profeta se' tu? Ed egli disse: non sono.	21 And they asked him: What then? Art thou Elias? And he said: I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered: No.
22 Ed egli dissero: chi sei, acciò possiamo fare risposta a cui ci ha mandati? Che di' tu di te medesimo?	22 They said therefore unto him: Who art thou, that we may give an answer to them that sent us? What sayest thou of thyself?
23 Ed egli disse: io sono una voce nel deserto, che grida (e dice): drizzate la via del Signore, sì come disse Isaia profeta.	23 He said: I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaias.
24 E quelli ch' erano stati mandati erano dei Farisei.	24 And they that were sent, were of the Pharisees.
25 E (anche un' altra volta) il dimandorono, e dissengli perchè battezzi, se tu non sei Cristo, nè Elia, nè profeta?	25 And they asked him, and said to him: Why then dost thou baptize, if thou be not Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet?
26 E Ioanne rispose e disse: io battezzo in acqua; ma in mezzo di voi è stato colui il quale non sapete.	26 John answered them, saying: I baptize with water; but there hath stood one in the midst of you, whom you know not.
27 Ed è colui il quale dee venire dopo me, il quale è fatto dinanzi di me; al quale io non sono degno di sciogliere la corrigia de' suoi calzari.	27 The same is he that shall come after me, who is preferred before me: the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to loose.
28 Queste cose furono fatte in Betania di là dal fiume Giordano, dove Ioanne stava a battezzare.	28 These things were done in Bethania, beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29 Nell' altro giorno Ioanne vide Iesù, ch' egli veniva sè, e disse: ecco l'agnello di Dio, ecco quello che toglie li peccati del mondo.	29 The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him, and he saith: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who taketh away the sin of the world.
30 Egli è, del quale dissi: dopo me egli è venuto l'uomo, il quale fu fatto dinanzi di me, imperò ch' egli era prima di me.	30 This is he, of whom I said: After me there cometh a man, who is preferred before me: because he was before me.
31 E io nol conosceva; ma perchè lui sia manifestato in Israel, però sono venuto a battezzare nell'acqua.	31 And I knew him not, but that he may be made manifest in Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 E Ioanne rendette testimonio, dicendo: io vidi il Spirito discendente dal cielo a modo di colomba, e sopra lui manse.	32 And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down, as a dove from heaven, and he remained upon him.
33 E io nol conosceva; ma egli che mi mandò a battezzare nell' acqua, a me disse: sopra qual vederai il Spirito discendente, e stare fermo sopra lui, egli è quel che battezzarà in Spirito Santo.	33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize with water, said to me: He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, he it is that baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34 E io l'ho veduto, e di lui renduto testimonianza, come questo egli è il Figliuolo di Dio.	34 And I saw, and I gave testimony, that this is the Son of God.
35 Uno altro giorno ancora stava Ioanne (Battista), e con lui due suoi discepoli.	35 The next day again John stood, and two of his disciples.
36 E guardando Ioanne, vide andare Iesù, e disse: ecco l'agnello di Dio.	36 And beholding Jesus walking, he saith: Behold the Lamb of God.
37 E quelli suoi due discepoli udironlo così parlare, li quali seguitorono Iesù.	37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38 E voltandosi Iesù, vide ch' egli il seguitavano; e Iesù disse a loro: che addimandate voi? E quelli dissero: maestro, dove abiti tu?	38 And Jesus turning, and seeing them following him, saith to them: What seek you? Who said to him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
39 E Iesù disse: venite meco, e vederetelo. Ed egli andorono, e videro dove egli stava, e stettero con lui tutto quello giorno; ed era quasi la decima ora.	39 He saith to them: Come and see. They came, and saw where he abode, and they stayed with him that day: now it was about the tenth hour.
40 E [di] questi discepoli i quali aveano audito Ioanne, e seguitorono Iesù, uno era Andrea fratello di Simone Pietro.	40 And Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who had heard of John, and followed him.
41 E questi trovò in prima il suo fratello Simone, e dissegli: noi avemo trovato [i] Messia, il quale è detto Cristo.	41 He findeth first his brother Simon, and saith to him: We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
42 E menollo a Iesù. E Iesù guardollo, e disse: tu Simone, figliuolo di Iona, sarai chiamato Cefas, il quale s' interpreta Pietro.	42 And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looking upon him, said: Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted Peter.
43 E l'altro giorno andando Iesù in Galilea, trovò Filippo, e dissegli: sèguitami.	43 On the following day, he would go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philip. And Jesus saith to him: Follow me.
44 Era Filippo di Betsaida, cittade di Andrea e di Pietro.	44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45 E Filippo trovò Natanael, e dissegli: noi abbiamo trovato Iesù figliuolo di Iosef di Nazaret, del quale hanno parlato gli profeti, il quale Moisè scrisse nella legge.	45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him: We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets did write, Jesus the son of Joseph of Nazareth.
46 Disse Natanael a Filippo: come può da Nazaret essere alcuna bona cosa? E Filippo disse: vienti, e vedera?lo.	46 And Nathanael said to him: Can any thing of good come from Nazareth? Philip saith to him: Come and see.
47 E (in questo) Iesù vide Natanael che andava a lui, e disse: ecco veramente l'uomo d' Israel, nel quale non è (falsità nè) inganno.	47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him: and he saith of him: Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile.
48 Disse Natanael a Iesù: dove mi hai conosciuto? E Iesù gli rispose, e dissegli: inanzi che Filippo ti chiamasse, essendo tu sotto il fico, io ti vidi.	48 Nathanael saith to him: Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered, and said to him: Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49 E Natanael disse: maestro, tu sei Figliuolo di Dio, tu sei Re d'Israel.	49 Nathanael answered him, and said: Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel.
50 Rispose Iesù, e disse: perchè io ti dissi: io ti vidi sotto il fico, credesti; (onde io vi dico che) maggiori cose di queste vederai.	50 Jesus answered, and said to him: Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, thou believest: greater things than these shalt thou see.
51 E dissegli: in verità vi dico, che voi vederete il cielo aperto, e gli angioli di Dio discendere e salire sopra il Figliuolo dell' uomo.	51 And he saith to him: Amen, amen I say to you, you shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
