Biblia Tysiąclecia	NEW JERUSALEM
1 W miejsce Jechoniasza, syna Jojakima, władzę objął Sedecjasz. Ustanowił go królem nad ziemią judzką król babiloński, Nabuchodonozor.	1 Zedekiah son of Josiah became king, succeeding Coniah son of Jehoiakim. Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon had made him king of Judah.
2 Ani on, ani jego dworzanie, ani lud ziemi nie słuchali słów Pana, jakie im mówił za pośrednictwem proroka Jeremiasza.	2 But neither he nor his courtiers nor the people of the country paid any attention to the words Yahwehspoke through the prophet Jeremiah.
3 Król Sedecjasz posłał Jukala, syna Szelemiasza, i Sofoniasza, syna Maasejasza, kapłana, do proroka Jeremiasza, by powiedzieli:	3 King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah to the prophetJeremiah with this message, 'Intercede for us with Yahweh our God.'
4 Módl się za nas do Pana, Boga naszego! Jeremiasz zaś chodził swobodnie wśród ludu; jeszcze nie wtrącono go do więzienia.	4 Now Jeremiah was still moving freely among the people: he had not yet been put in prison.
5 Wojsko faraona wyruszyło tymczasem z Egiptu. Gdy usłyszeli tę nowinę Chaldejczycy oblegający Jerozolimę, odstąpili od niej.	5 Meanwhile Pharaoh's army was on the move from Egypt and the Chaldaeans besieging Jerusalem hadraised the siege when they heard the news.
6 Prorok zaś Jeremiasz otrzymał następujące słowo Pańskie:	6 Then the word of Yahweh came to the prophet Jeremiah as fol ows,
7 To mówi Pan, Bóg Izraela: Tak powiecie królowi judzkiemu, który was posłał do Mnie po radę. Oto wojsko faraona, który spieszy wam z pomocą, wróci do swego kraju, do Egiptu.	7 'Yahweh, God of Israel, says this, "To the king of Judah who sent you to consult me make this reply: IsPharaoh's army marching to your aid? It wil withdraw to its own country, Egypt.
8 Chaldejczycy zaś powrócą i podejmą walkę przeciw temu miastu, zdobędą je i spalą ogniem.	8 The Chaldaeans wil return to attack this city; they will capture it and burn it down.
9 To mówi Pan: Nie zwódźcie samych siebie, powtarzając: Z pewnością odejdą Chaldejczycy! Albowiem nie odejdą.	9 Yahweh says this: Do not cheer yourselves up by thinking: The Chaldaeans are leaving us for good.They are not leaving.
10 Nawet gdybyście pobili całe wojsko Chaldejczyków walczących z wami, tak że zostałoby z nich jedynie niewielu rannych, to każdy z nich podniósłby się ze swego namiotu, by wydać to miasto na pastwę ognia.	10 Even if you cut to pieces the whole Chaldaean army now fighting against you until there were only thewounded left, they would stand up again, each man in his tent, to burn this city down." '
11 Tymczasem gdy wojsko chaldejskie odstąpiło od Jerozolimy z powodu wojska faraona,	11 At the time when the Chaldaean army, threatened by Pharaoh's army, had raised the siege ofJerusalem,
12 Jeremiasz chciał wyjść z Jerozolimy i udać się do ziemi Beniamina, by tam dokonać podziału majątku wśród swoich.	12 Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem for the territory of Benjamin to see about a piece of his propertyamong the people there.
13 Gdy przybył do Bramy Beniamina, gdzie się znajdował dowódca straży imieniem Jirijjasz, syn Szelemiasza, syna Chananiasza, ten zatrzymał proroka Jeremiasza, mówiąc: Przechodzisz do Chaldejczyków!	13 He was at the Benjamin Gate when the guard commander there, a certain Irijah son of Shelemiah,son of Hananiah, arrested the prophet Jeremiah, shouting, 'You are deserting to the Chaldaeans!'
14 Jeremiasz zaś odrzekł: Nieprawda! Nie przechodzę do Chaldejczyków. Ale ten go nie słuchał. Jirijjasz pochwycił Jeremiasza i zaprowadził przed przywódców.	14 Jeremiah answered, 'It is a lie! I am not deserting to the Chaldaeans.' But Irijah would not listen toJeremiah and took him under arrest to the chief men.
15 Przywódcy się rozgniewali na Jeremiasza i bili go, następnie wtrącili do więzienia w domu Jonatana, kanclerza, który zamienili na więzienie.	15 And the chief men, furious with Jeremiah, had him beaten and shut up in the house of the scribeJonathan, which had been turned into a prison.
16 Jeremiasz więc dostał się do sklepionego lochu i pozostawał tam przez dłuższy czas.	16 Thus Jeremiah found himself in an underground vault. And there for a long time he stayed.
17 Następnie posłał król Sedecjasz, by go przyprowadzono. Król wypytywał się go potajemnie w swoim domu, mówiąc: Czy masz słowo od Pana? Jeremiasz zaś odrzekł: Mam. I powiedział: Będziesz wydany w ręce króla babilońskiego.	17 Later, King Zedekiah had him sent for, and the king questioned him privately in his palace. 'Is thereany word from Yahweh?' he asked. 'There is,' Jeremiah answered, and added, 'you wil be handed over to theking of Babylon.'
18 I rzekł Jeremiasz do króla Sedecjasza: Co zawiniłem tobie, twoim dworzanom i temu ludowi, że wtrąciliście mnie do więzienia?	18 Jeremiah then said to King Zedekiah, 'What wrong have I done you, or your courtiers or this people,for you to have put me in prison?
19 Gdzie są wasi prorocy, którzy przepowiadali wam: Nie nadejdzie król babiloński przeciw wam i przeciw temu krajowi?	19 Where are your prophets now who prophesied, "The king of Babylon wil not attack you or thiscountry"?
20 Teraz zaś posłuchaj, proszę, panie mój, królu! Niech błaganie moje cię poruszy! Nie odsyłaj mnie do domu Jonatana, kanclerza, bym tam nie umarł.	20 So now I beg you to hear me, my lord king! I beg you to approve my request! Do not have me takenback to the house of the scribe Jonathan, or I shall die there.'
21 Król Sedecjasz wydał rozkaz, by trzymano Jeremiasza pod strażą w wartowni i by dawano mu po bochenku chleba dziennie z ulicy piekarzy, dopóki nie wyczerpie się chleb w mieście. I pozostał Jeremiasz na dziedzińcu w wartowni.	21 King Zedekiah then gave an order, and Jeremiah was confined in the Court of the Guard and given aloaf of bread a day from the Street of the Bakers as long as there was bread left in the city. So Jeremiah stayedin the Court of the Guard.
