1 Questo è quello che possedettono i figliuoli d'Israel nella terra di Canaan, la quale avea dato loro Eleazaro prete e Iosuè figliuolo di Nun e i principi delle famiglie, secondo le schiatte (de' figliuoli) d' Israel;	1 And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.
2 dividendo ogni cosa per sorte, siccome avea comandato Iddio Signore nella mano di Moisè, alle nove ischiatte e ad una metà della schiatta.	2 By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
3 Imperò che alle due schiatte, e ad una metà della schiatta, avea dato possessione Moisè di là dal (fiume) Giordano, senza i Leviti i quali non presono nulla parte della terra (acquistata) tra' loro fratelli.	3 For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
4 Ma in loro luogo succedettero (in eredità) i figliuoli di Iosef divisi in due tribù, Manasse ed Efraim; non pigliarono (nè ebbero) i Leviti (cioè i preti della schiatta di Levi) altra parte in terra, se non se cittadi ad abitare, e' borghi loro, per pascere i bestiami e le pecore loro.	4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5 Sì come avea comandato Iddio a Moisè, così fecero i figliuoli d' Israel, e divisono la terra.	5 As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6 E andarono i figliuoli di Giuda a Iosuè in Galgala, e favellogli Caleb figliuolo di Iefone Cenezeo, e sì gli disse: tu sai quello che Iddio favellò (e disse) a Moisè, uomo di Dio, di me e di te in Cadesbarne.	6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh-barnea.
7 Io avea (ed era di) XL anni, quando mi mandò Moisè, servo di Dio, di Cadesbarne, acciò ch' io considerassi (e riguardassi) la terra (di possessione), e io sì gli nunziai quello che mi pareva vero.	7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8 Ma i miei fratelli (e compagni) che vennero meco (sbigottirono ed) isciolsero il cuore (de' figliuoli d'Israel e) del popolo; e con tutto questo io seguitai Iddio Signore mio.	8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9 E giuroe Moisè in quel dì, dicendo: la terra, la quale calcò il tuo piede, sarà tua possessione e de' tuoi figliuoli in sempiterno; chè tu hai seguitato Iddio Signore mio.	9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
10 Ecco che Iddio m' hae concesso (e donata) vita, sì come mi promise, insino al dì d'oggi; e sono XLV anni, che Iddio disse (e favellò) cotesta parola a Moisè, quando Israel andava per la solitudine; e io sono oggi d' ottantacinque anni.	10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 E così mi sento, come io mi sentìa in quel tempo quando fui mandato a spiare (la terra di promessione); quella fortezza è in me, la quale era in quel tempo (insino ad oggi è meco), così a combattere come a salire.	11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12 Dàmmi adunque questo monte, il quale m' impromise Iddio Signore, udendo tu, e nel quale monte sono i giganti e le cittadi grandi e armate (e acconcie); se per avventura Iddio sì è meco, e sì le potrò ispegnere, sì come (Iddio) mi promise.	12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13 E benedissegli Iosuè, e sì gli diede Ebron in possessione.	13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14 E poi dopo quello tempo fue Ebron di Caleb, figliuolo di Iefone Cenezeo (sempre) insino al dì d'oggi; imperò che andò dietro a Dio Signore d' Israel.	14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
15 E chiamavasi il nome d'Ebron in prima Cariat Arbe; il grande Adam (cioè il primo uomo) sì fu posto nella terra de' giganti; e poi si posò la terra delle battaglie.	15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
