BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E il primo dì del sabbato, la mattina come il sole lucette, venne Maria Maddalena e l'altra Maria a vedere il sepolcro.	1 After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Marywent to visit the sepulchre.
2 E in quello venne uno grande terremoto; imperò che l'angelo del Signore era venuto dal cielo, e avea rivolta la pietra, e sedeva sopra essa.	2 And suddenly there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, cameand rol ed away the stone and sat on it.
3 Era l'aspetto suo sì come folgore, e le sue vestimenta sì come neve.	3 His face was like lightning, his robe white as snow.
4 E per la paura le guardie si sbigottirono, e diventorono come morti.	4 The guards were so shaken by fear of him that they were like dead men.
5 E l'angiolo (di Dio) disse alle donne: non temete voi; imperò che so che voi addomandate Jesù il quale fu crocifisso.	5 But the angel spoke; and he said to the women, 'There is no need for you to be afraid. I know you arelooking for Jesus, who was crucified.
6 Egli non è quivi, anzi è resuscitato, come egli disse; e imperò venite, e vedete il luogo dove era posto il Signore.	6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay,
7 E andate tosto, e ditelo a' suoi discepoli (e a Pietro), ch' egli è resuscitato, e che apparirà a loro in Galilea; e quivi lo vederete, come egli ve lo predisse.	7 then go quickly and tel his disciples, "He has risen from the dead and now he is going ahead of you toGalilee; that is where you wil see him." Look! I have told you.'
8 E quelle con timore e grande allegrezza presto uscittero del monumento, correndo a nunciare alli suoi discepoli.·	8 Fil ed with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tel his disciples.
9 Ed ecco che Iesù gli fu incontra, dicendo: Dio vi salvi. E quelle andorono, e tennero li suoi piedi, e adororonlo.	9 And suddenly, coming to meet them, was Jesus. 'Greetings,' he said. And the women came up to himand, clasping his feet, they did him homage.
10 Allora li disse Iesù: non temiate; andate e annunziate alli miei fratelli, che loro vadino in Galilea; quivi mi vederanno.	10 Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee;there they wil see me.'
11 Le quali partendosi, ecco alcuni de' guardiani ( ch' erano stati a fare la guardia al monumento) vennero nella città, e nunciorono alli principi de' sacerdoti tutte le cose ch' erano state fatte.	11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests althat had happened.
12 E raunoronsi con li antiqui, e fatto il consiglio, dettero molta pecunia alli cavalieri,	12 These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum ofmoney to the soldiers
13 dicendo: dite, come di notte vennero li discepoli suoi, e mentre che dormivamo, furoronlo.	13 with these instructions, 'This is what you must say, "His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep."
14 E se questo sarà udito dal podestà, noi lo persuaderemo, e faremovi securi.	14 And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselvesand to see that you do not get into trouble.'
15 E quelli, presa la pecunia, fecero come erano stati informati; e questo parlare è divulgato appresso li Iudei insino al presente giorno.	15 So they took the money and carried out their instructions, and to this day that is the story among theJews.
16 Ma li undici discepoli andorono in Galilea, e stettero nel monte dove gli aveva ordinato Jesù.	16 Meanwhile the eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged tomeet them.
17 E quando l'ebbero veduto, adoronlo, ma alcuni di loro si dubitorono.	17 When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated.
18 E andando Jesù parlogli, dicendo: a me è data ogni possanza in cielo e in terra.	18 Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given tome.
19 Andate adunque, e insegnate a tutte le genti, battezzandole nel nome del Padre, del Figliuolo e del Spirito Santo,	19 Go, therefore, make disciples of al nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Sonand of the Holy Spirit,
20 ammaestrandole a osservare tutte le cose ch' io vi ho comandato. Ecco ch' io sono con voi in tutti i giorni, insino alla fine del mondo.	20 and teach them to observe al the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to theend of time.'
