Ezechiele 17

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E disse Iddio a me:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 O figliuolo d' uomo, proponi lo detto sottile, e narra la parabola alla casa d' Israel.	2 'Son of man, put a riddle, propound a parable to the House of Israel.
3 E dirai questo dice lo Signore Iddio : l'aquila grande delle grandi ale, longa di membri, piena di piuma, piena di varietadi, venne allo Libano, e portò la midolla del cedro.	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: A great eagle with great wings, long-pinioned, rich with many-coloured plumage, came to the Lebanon.
4 E rivoltò la cima delle frondi, e portolla nella terra di Canaan, e puosela nella cittade de' mercatanti.	4 He took the top of the cedar tree, he plucked off the top branch, he carried it off to the country ofmerchants and set it down in a city of shopkeepers.
5 E portoe del seme della terra, e puose quello nella terra per seme, acciò che fermasse la radice. sopra molte acque; e puoselo sopra uno poco d'altezza.	5 Next, he took one of the country's seeds and put it in a fertile field; by the side of a generous stream,like a wil ow tree, he placed it.
6 E quando germinò, cresceo in vigna più larga d'umile statura, reguardanti li suoi rami a lei, e le sue radici erano sotto lei: fatta è adunque vigna, e fecer li rami frutto, e mise fuori le propagini.	6 It grew and became a fruitful vine of modest size, grew up towards the eagle, its roots grewdownwards. So it became a vine, branching out and sprouting new shoots.
7 E fu fatta un' altra aquila grande, con grandi ale e con molte penne; ed ecco, questa vigna mettea quasi le sue radici a lei, e distese li suoi rami a lei, acciò ch' ella bagnasse lei delle piccole are de' suoi freschi germogli.	7 But there was another great eagle with great wings and thick plumage. And now the vine twisted itsroots towards him and stretched its branches towards him, for him to water it away from the bed where it wasplanted.
8 Tu sei in buona terra, piantata sopra molte acque, acciò che faccia frondi, e porti lo frutto, acciò che sia in grande vigna.	8 It was in a fertile field, by the side of a wide stream that the vine had been planted, to branch out andbear fruit and become a noble vine."
9 Di' questo dice lo Signore Iddio: adunque sarà ella prospera? E non divellerà le sue radici, e premerà li suoi frutti, e seccherà tutti li rami delli suoi germogli, e diventerà arida, e non con grande braccio, nè con grande popolo, acciò che la divellesse dalle radici?	9 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Will it succeed? Wil the eagle not tear out its roots and strip off itsfruit, so that al the new leaves it puts out wil wither, and no great strength is needed nor many people to pul itup by the roots?
10 Ecco ch' è piantata; adunque sarà ella prospera? Or non si seccherà ella, quando la toccherà lo vento abbruciante? ella diventerà arida.	10 Planted it may be -- wil it succeed? Wil it not shrivel up when the east wind blows? It wil wither inthe bed where it was growing!" '
11 E disse Iddio a me:	11 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:
12 Di' alla casa incredula: non sapete voi, che significano queste cose? Di': ecco che lo re di Babilonia viene in Ierusalem, e piglierà lo re e li suoi principi, e meneralli in Babilonia.	12 'Say to that tribe of rebels, "Do you not know what this means?" Say this, 'Look, the king of Babyloncame to Jerusalem; he carried away the king and the princes, and took them to his home in Babylon.
13 E torrà del seme del regno, e porrà lo patto con lui, e torrà da lui il giuramento; ma anche torrà li forti della terra,	13 He took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him, forcing him to swear loyalty, havingalready deported the leading men of the country,
14 acciò che lo regno sia umile, e non si levi in superbia, ma guardi e tenga fermo lo suo patto.	14 so that the kingdom would remain modest and without ambitions, and would keep and honour histreaty.
15 Il quale partendosi da lui mandò messaggi a Egitto, acciò che li dèsse cavalli e molto popolo. Or (non) si prospererà, ovvero che si averà salute quegli che ha fatte queste cose? e chi rompe lo patto, fuggirà egli?	15 But the prince rebelled against him and sent envoys to Egypt to procure himself horses and a largenumber of troops. Wil he succeed? Wil a man who has done this go unpunished? Can he break a treaty and gounpunished?
16 Io vivo, dice lo Signore Iddio, però che nello luogo dello re, chi l' ordinò re, dello quale lo giuramento fece tornare adietro, e ruppe lo patto che avea con lui, egli morrà nel mezzo di Babilonia.	16 As I live, I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- in Babylon, in the country of the king who put himon the throne, whose oath he has disregarded and whose treaty he has broken, there he will die.
17 E Faraone non farà con lui battaglia in grande oste nè con grande popolo, ma in una misura di terra, (sì come dicesse in uno staiolo) e nella estruzion delli valli, acciò ch' elli uccida molte anime.	17 Despite the pharaoh's great army and hordes of men, he wil not be able to save him by fighting,however many earthworks are raised, however many trenches dug to the loss of many lives.
18 Egli avea dispregiato lo giuramento per rompere lo patto, ed ecco ch' egli ha dato la sua mano; e conciosia cosa che abbia fatto tutto questo, non fuggirà.	18 He has disregarded the oath by breaking the treaty to which he had pledged himself and, havingdone al this, wil not go unpunished.
19 Però questo dice lo Signore Iddio: io vivo, però che lo giuramento ch' elli dispregiò, e lo patto. ch' egli hae prevaricato, io lo porrò nello suo capo.	19 "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As I live, I swear it: my oath which he has disregarded, my treatywhich he has broken, I shall make them both recoil on his own head.
20 E spanderò sopra lui la mia rete e la mia sagena, (la sagena si è una grande rete da pescare); e menerollo in Babilonia, e giudicherollo ivi secondo la prevaricazione colla quale egli m' hae dispregiato.	20 I shal throw my net over him, he wil be caught in my mesh; I shall take him to Babylon and punishhim there for being unfaithful to me.
21 E tutti li suoi fuggitivi caderanno di coltello con tutto lo loro aiuto; li rimanenti saranno dispersi ad ogni vento; e saprete ch' io sono lo Signore, che hoe parlato.	21 Al the pick of al his troops wil fal by the sword, and the survivors be scattered to al the winds. Andyou wil know that I, Yahweh, have spoken.
22 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: e piglierò della midolla del cedro alto, e porrò; la cima tenera delli albori strignerò, e pianterò sopra lo loro monte che sopra stia.	22 "The Lord Yahweh says this: From the top of the tal cedar tree, from the highest branch I shal take ashoot and plant it myself on a high and lofty mountain.
23 E pianterolla nell' alto monte d' Israel, e metterà, e farà frutto, e sarà grande cedro; e abiteranno sotto lei tutti li uccelli, e ogni uccello farà lo nido sotto l'ombra delle sue frondi.	23 I shal plant it on the highest mountain in Israel. It wil put out branches and bear fruit and grow into anoble cedar tree. Every kind of bird wil live beneath it, every kind of winged creature will rest in the shade of itsbranches.
24 E tutti i legni della contrada sapranno, ch' io Signore adumiliai lo legno alto, e lo umile esaltai, e lo leguo verde seccai, e feci far le foglie allo legno arido. Io Signore hoe parlato, e fecilo. (Per questi due versi doviamo sapere, che Iddio tutti li superbi fa bassi, e tutti li umili fa alti; e però dice lo vangelio, che ogni uomo che si adumilia sarà esaltato, e chi vuole venir alto sarà abbassato. E non doviamo guardare se Iddio nol fa in questo mondo; però che Iddio lo fa più nell' altro. E nel verso della magnificazione dice che Iddio levò li potenti e li superbi dalla sedia, e puosevi li umili).	24 And al the trees of the countryside wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who lays the tal tree lowand raises the low tree high, who makes the green tree wither and makes the withered bear fruit. I, Yahweh,have spoken, and I wil do it." '
