1 Partissi quindi Abraam, e andò nella terra australe; abitò intra Cades e Sur, e peregrinato è in Geraris.	1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.
2 E disse di Sara sua moglie: mia sorella è, (a cui domandava). Adunque mandoe Abimelec, Re di Gerara, e tolse lei.	2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
3 Ma il Signore venne ad Abimelec per sonno la notte, e disse a lui: in verità tu morirai per la femina che tu togliesti, imperciò ch' ella hae marito.	3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.
4 Ma Abimelec non l'avea toccata, e disse: Signore, ucciderai tu la gente ignorante e giusta?	4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
5 Non mi disse egli, ch' ella era sua sorella, ed ella disse ch' egli era suo fratello? Nella semplicità del cuore mio, e nella mondizia delle mani mie, feci questa cosa.	5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
6 E disse a lui [ Iddio ]: ed io lo soe, che con simplice cuore lo facesti, e perciò guardai te, acciò che tu non peccassi in me, e non lasciai che tu la toccassi.	6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
7 Ma ora rendi la moglie allo marito suo; im perciò ch' egli è profeta, e adorerae per te, e viverai. Ma se tu non glie la vorrai rendere, sappi che di morte morirai tu, ed ogni cose che sono tue.	7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
8 Ed incontanente, di notte levantesi, Abimelec chiamò ogni suo servo; e disse tutte queste parole negli orecchii loro, e temette molto ogni uomo.	8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.
9 E chiamò ancora Abimelec Abraam, e disse gli: che hai tu fatto a noi? che pecchiamo in te, imperciò che tu inducesti sopra me, e sopra lo regno mio, grande peccato? Quelle cose, le quali non do vevi fare, facesti a noi.	9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
10 E un' altra volta addomandatolo, disse: che vedestu, acciò che tu facesti questa cosa?	10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
11 Rispuose a lui Abraam: io pensai con meco, dicendo: forse che non è il timor di Dio in questo luogo, e uccideranno me per la moglie mia.	11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.
12 Ma altramente in verità è mia sorella e figliuola del mio padre, e non figliuola della madre mia, e tolsila per moglie.	12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
13 E poscia che mi meno Iddio dalla casa del padre mio, dissi a lei: questa misericordia farai meco; in ogni luogo, nello quale anderemo, dì che sia tuo fratello.	13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
14 Adunque tolse Abimelec le pecore ed i bovi e li servi e l'ancille, e dielle ad Abraam; e rendègli Sara sua moglie.	14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
15 E disse: la terra innanzi è a voi; e dovun que ti piacerà, abita.	15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.
16 E a Sara disse: ecco mille dinari d'ariento, ch' io gli ho dati al fratello tuo; questo sarae a te in velamento degli occhi a tutti coloro che sono teco; e dovunque anderai, ti ricordi che fusti presa.	16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.
17 Ma, orante Abraam, sano fece Iddio Abimelec; e la moglie e l'ancille sue iscamparono, e parturiono.	17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.
18 Avea in verità rechiusa ogni vulva lo Signore della casa di Abimelec, per Sara moglie di Abraam.	18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
