| 2 che i vecchi siano sobrii, pudichi, prudenti, sani nella fede, nella carità, nella pazienza; | 2 That the aged men be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience. |
| 3 se le vecchie parimenti abbiano un contegno santo, non sian maldicenti, nè dedite al, vino, ma sian maestre nel bene; | 3 The aged women, in like manner, in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well: |
| 4 per insegnare alle giovani la prudenza, ad amare i loro mariti, a tener di conto dei loro figlioli, | 4 That they may teach the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their children, |
| 5 ad essere sagge, caste, sobrie, attente alla | casa, buone, soggette ai loro mariti, affinché non si dica male della parola di Dio. | 5 To be discreet, chaste, sober, having a care of the house, gentle, obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. |
| 6 Esorta pure i giovani ad essere temperanti. | 6 Young men, in like manner, exhort that they be sober. |
| 7 In ogni cosa mostrati modello di buone opere, nella dottrina, nell’integrità, nella gravità. | 7 In all things shew thyself an example of good works, in doctrine, in integrity, in gravity, |
| 8 Il parlare sia sano, irreprensibile, in modo che l’avversario, resti, confuso, non potendo: dir male di, voi. | 8 The sound word that can not be blamed: that he, who is on the contrary part, may be afraid, having no evil to say of us. |
| 9 Ai, servi, raccomanda di star sottomessi ai loro padroni, di, compiacerli in ogni cosa, senza rivoltarsi, | 9 Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters, in all things pleasing, not gainsaying: |
| 10 senza rubare, ma dimostrare in tutto, perfetta fedeltà, per fare in tutto onore alla dottrina del, Salvatore nostro Dio. | 10 Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things: |
| 11 Apparve infatti la grazia di Dio nostro Salvatore a tutti gli uomini, | 11 For the grace of God our Savior hath appeared to all men; |
| 12 ci ha insegnato a rinunziare all’empietà ed ai mondani desideri, per vivere con temperanza e giustizia e pietà in questo mondo, | 12 Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and justly, and godly in this world, |
| 13 attendendo la beata speranza, la manifestazione gloriosa del gran Dio e Salvatore nostro Gesù Cristo, | 13 Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ, |
| 14 il quale diede se stesso per noi, affine di riscattarci da ogni iniquità e purificarsi un popolo tutto suo, zelatore di opere buone. | 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works. |
| 15 Così insegna, esorta è riprendi con ogni autorità e nessuno ti disprezzi. | 15 These things speak, and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. |
