LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Chi sta sotto la protezione dell'Altissimo e dimora all'ombra dell'Onnipotente	1 You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,
2 dica al Signore: "Mio rifugio e mia fortezza, mio Dio, in cui confido!".	2 saying to Yahweh, 'My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!'
3 Sì, egli ti libererà dal laccio del cacciatore, dalla parola che conduce a rovina.	3 He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;
4 Egli ti coprirà con le sue penne, sotto le sue ali troverai rifugio. Scudo e corazza è la sua fedeltà.	4 he covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield andprotection.
5 Non avrai da temere terrori di notte, né freccia che vola di giorno,	5 You need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,
6 né peste che vaga nelle tenebre, né contagio che infuria a mezzodì.	6 the plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.
7 Mille cadranno al tuo fianco, diecimila alla tua destra; a te non s'accosterà.	7 Though a thousand fal at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself wil remainunscathed.
8 Solo che osservi con i tuoi occhi, potrai vedere la ricompensa degli empi.	8 You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,
9 Sì, il tuo rifugio è nel Signore, hai posto nell'Altissimo la tua dimora.	9 you who say, 'Yahweh my refuge!' and make Elyon your fortress.
10 Non ti accadrà alcun male, né alcuna piaga raggiungerà la tua tenda.	10 No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;
11 Poiché darà ordine ai suoi angeli di custodirti in tutti i tuoi passi:	11 he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.
12 sulle loro mani ti prenderanno affinché in nessun sasso inciampi il tuo piede.	12 They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.
13 Su leoni ed aspidi camminerai, calpesterai leoncelli e draghi.	13 You wil walk upon wild beast and adder, you wil trample young lions and snakes.
14 "Poiché mi ama, lo salverò; lo esalterò, perché conosce il mio nome.	14 'Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.
15 Quando mi chiamerà, gli darò risposta; con lui sarò nella sventura; lo salverò e lo renderò glorioso.	15 He cal s to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.
16 Di lunga vita lo sazierò; gli farò godere la mia salvezza".	16 I shal satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.'
