LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Canto delle ascensioni. Ricòrdati, o Signore, di Davide e di tutte le sue fatiche,	1 A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all his anxious care;
2 come egli giurò al Signore, fece voto al Potente di Giacobbe:	2 How he swore an oath to the LORD, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 "Non entrerò nella tenda della mia casa, non salirò sul letto del mio riposo,	3 "I will not enter the house where I live, nor lie on the couch where I sleep;
4 non concederò sonno ai miei occhi, né riposo alle mie palpebre,	4 I will give my eyes no sleep, my eyelids no rest,
5 finché non trovi una sede per il Signore, una dimora per il Potente di Giacobbe".	5 Till I find a home for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
6 Ecco, ne abbiamo sentito parlare in E'frata; l'abbiamo trovata nei campi di Iàar.	6 "We have heard of it in Ephrathah; we have found it in the fields of Jaar.
7 Andiamo alla sua dimora, prostriamoci allo sgabello dei suoi piedi!	7 Let us enter God's dwelling; let us worship at God's footstool."
8 Sorgi, Signore, verso il tuo riposo, tu e l'arca della tua potenza.	8 "Arise, LORD, come to your resting place, you and your majestic ark.
9 I tuoi sacerdoti si vestano di giustizia, i tuoi fedeli gridino di gioia.	9 Your priests will be clothed with justice; your faithful will shout for joy."
10 Per amore di Davide tuo servo, non respingere il volto del tuo consacrato.	10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed.
11 Il Signore giurò a Davide una promessa da cui non tornerà indietro: "Il frutto del tuo seno porrò sul tuo trono.	11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a pledge never to be broken: "Your own offspring I will set upon your throne.
12 Se i tuoi figli custodiranno il mio patto e i miei precetti che a loro impartirò, anche i loro figli, di età in età, siederanno sul tuo trono".	12 If your sons observe my covenant, the laws I shall teach them, Their sons, in turn, shall sit forever on your throne."
13 Sì, il Signore ha scelto Sion, l'ha voluta per sua dimora:	13 Yes, the LORD has chosen Zion, desired it for a dwelling:
14 "Qui sarà il mio riposo per sempre, qui siederò, poiché l'ho voluto.	14 "This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I desire it.
15 Benedirò largamente le sue provviste, sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.	15 I will bless Zion with meat; its poor I will fill with bread.
16 Rivestirò di salvezza i suoi sacerdoti; esulteranno di gioia i suoi fedeli.	16 I will clothe its priests with blessing; its faithful shall shout for joy.
17 Là farò germinare per Davide una potenza; preparerò una lampada per il mio consacrato.	17 There I will make a horn sprout for David's line; I will set a lamp for my anointed.
18 Rivestirò d'ignominia i suoi nemici, mentre su di lui fiorirà il suo diadema".	18 His foes I will clothe with shame, but on him my crown shall gleam."
