1 These, with their genealogies, were the heads of families who set out from Babylon with me in the reignof King Artaxerxes:	1 Оце голови родин і родовід тих, що вийшли зо мною з Вавилону за царювання Артаксеркса:
2 Of the sons of Phinehas: Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar: Daniel; of the sons of David: Hattush	2 з синів Пінхаса — Гершом; з синів Ітамара — Даниїл; з синів Давида — Хаттуш;
3 son of Shechaniah; of the sons of Parosh: Zechariah, and with him a hundred and fifty males officiallyregistered;	3 з синів Шеханії; з синів Пароша — Захарія, і з ним записаних у родовідні списки — 150 чоловік;
4 of the sons of Pahath-Moab: Elioenai son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males;	4 з синів Пахат — Моава Елеоенай, син Зерахії, і з ним 200 чоловік;
5 of the sons of Zattu: Shechaniah son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males;	5 з синів Затту Шеханії, син Яхазіела, і з ним 300 чоловік;
6 of the sons of Adin: Ebed son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males;	6 з синів Адіна, Евед, син Йонатана, і з ним 50 чоловік;

9 of the sons of Joab: Obadiah son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males;	9 з синів Йоава, Овдія, син Єхієла, і з ним 218 чоловік;
10 of the sons of Bani: Shelomith son of Josiphiah, and with him a hundred and sixty males;	10 з синів Баннія Шеломіт, син Йосифії, і з ним 160 чоловік;
11 of the sons of Bebai: Zechariah son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight males;	11 з синів Бевая, Захарія, син Бевая, і з ним 28 чоловік;
12 of the sons of Azgad: Johanan son of Hakkatan, and with him a hundred and ten males;	12 з синів Азгада, Йоханан, син Гакаттана, і з ним 110 чоловік;
13 of the sons of Adonikam: the younger sons, whose names are: Eliphelet, Jeiel and Shemaiah, and withthem sixty males;	13 з синів Адонікама, згодом прибулі, й оце їхні ймення: Еліфелет, Єїел і Шемая, і з ними 60 чоловік;
14 and of the sons of Bigvai: Uthai son of Zabud, and with him seventy males.	14 з синів Бігвая, Утай та Завуд, і з ними 70 чоловік.
15 I assembled them near the canal which runs to Ahava, where we camped for three days. I noticedlaymen and priests, but I could not discover any Levites there.	15 Я їх зібрав коло ріки, що вливається в Агаву, і там простояли ми табором три дні, і як я переглянув народ і священиків, не знайшов там із синів Леві нікого.
16 I then sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah and Meshullam,judicious men,	16 Тоді я послав по Еліезера, Арієла, Шемаю, Елнатана, Яріва, Елнатана, Натана, Захарію й Мешуллама — провідних мужів, і по Йоаріва та Елнатана — учителів.
17 and sent them to Iddo, the leading man of a place cal ed Casiphia; I told them what they were to say toIddo and his kinsmen, living at the place cal ed Casiphia, that is, to provide us with people to serve the Temple ofour God.	17 І дав я їм наказ для Іддо, голови над місцевістю Касіфія, і вклав їм в уста слова, що мали говорити до Іддо та його братів — нетінеїв у місцевості Касіфії, щоб вони привели нам прислужників для дому нашого Бога.
18 And because the hand of God was good to us, they sent us a wise man of the sons of Mahli son ofLevi, son of Israel, a certain Sherebiah with his sons and kinsmen: eighteen men;	18 І привели вони до нас, бо добродійна рука Бога нашого була над нами, розумного чоловіка, з синів Махлі, сина Леві, сина Ізраїлевого, тобто Шеревію та його синів і його братів, 18 душ, —
19 also Hashabiah and with him his brother Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari with his kinsmen and sons:twenty men;	19 і Хашавію й з ним Ісаю з синів Мерарі, і братів його та їхніх синів, двадцять;
20 and two hundred and twenty temple slaves -- descendants of the temple slaves whom David and theprinces had assigned to serve the Levites -- all of them designated by name.	20 а з нетінеїв, що їх призначив був Давид та князі до послуги левітам, 220 нетінеїв, усіх призначених за йменням.
21 There, beside the Ahava Canal, I then proclaimed a fast, to humble ourselves before our God and topray to him for a successful journey for us, our dependants and all our belongings.	21 Там же коло ріки Агави оповістив я піст, щоб нам упокоритись перед Богом нашим та просити в нього щасливої дороги для себе, для наших дітей та для всього нашого майна,
22 For I should have been ashamed to ask the king for a company of cavalry to protect us from hostilepeople on our road, as we had already said to the king, 'The hand of our God is over al who seek him for theirprotection, but his mighty retribution befal s al those who forsake him.'	22 бо мені було сором прохати в царя супроводу та кіннотчиків, щоб захистити нас від ворога в дорозі; бо ми, говоривши з царем, сказали: «Рука нашого Бога над усіма тими, що його шукають їм на добро, але його сила й гнів його на всіх тих, хто його покидає.»
23 So we fasted and pleaded with our God about this, and he heard us.	23 Постили ми ото й просили Бога нашого про те, й він вислухав нас.
24 I next chose twelve of the leading priests, and also Sherebiah and Hashabiah with ten of their kinsmen.	24 Тоді вибрав я 12 із головних священиків: Шеревію, Хашавію і з ними десятьох з братів їхніх,
25 To them I weighed out the silver, the gold and the utensils, the contributions which the king, hiscounsel ors, his notables and al the Israelites there present had made for the Temple of our God.	25 і відважив їм срібло, золото й посуд, — дари для дому Бога нашого, що їх дали: цар, його дорадники, князі його та всі ізраїльтяни, які там були.
26 To them I weighed out and handed over six hundred and fifty talents of silver, one hundred utensils ofsilver valued at two talents, one hundred talents of gold,	26 Відважив я, отже, їм на руки: срібла 650 талантів, срібного посуду на 100 талантів,
27 twenty golden bowls valued at a thousand darics and two utensils of fine burnished copper as preciousas gold.	27 золотих чаш — 20 по 1000 драхм, і 2 посудини з кращої блискучої міді, дорогої, як золото.
28 I said to them, 'You are consecrated to Yahweh; these utensils are consecrated too; the silver and gold are a voluntary offering to Yahweh, God of your ancestors.	28 Я сказав їм: «Ви посвячені Господеві, й посуд святий, і срібло та золото — добровільний дар Господеві, Богові батьків ваших.
29 Guard them carefully until you weigh them out to the leading priests, the Levites, and the heads offamilies of Israel in Jerusalem in the rooms of the Temple of Yahweh.'	29 Бережіть же його невсипуще, доки не здасте на вагу перед головними священиками, левітами й головами родин Ізраїля в Єрусалимі, в кімнатах дому Господнього.»
30 The priests and Levites then took charge of the silver, the gold and the utensils thus weighed, to bringthem to Jerusalem to the Temple of our God.	30 Тоді священики й левіти забрали зважене срібло, золото та посуд, щоб нести його в Єрусалим, в дім Бога нашого.
31 On the twelfth day of the first month we left the Ahava Canal to make our way to Jerusalem; the handof our God was over us and protected us from enemies and surprise attacks on our way.	31 А рушили ми від ріки Агави дванадцятого дня першого місяця, щоб іти в Єрусалим, і рука Бога нашого була над нами й спасала нас від руки ворога й тих, що на нас засідались у дорозі.
32 When we arrived in Jerusalem, we rested for three days.	32 Прийшовши в Єрусалим, перебули ми там три дні.
33 On the fourth day the silver, the gold and the utensils were weighed in the Temple of our God andhanded over to the priest Meremoth son of Uriah and, with him, Eleazar son of Phinehas; with them were theLevites Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.	33 Четвертого ж дня зважене срібло, золото й посуд у домі Бога нашого переважено на руки Меремота, сина Урії, священика; а з ним був Єлеазар, син Пінхаса, з ними же Йозавад, син Ісуса, і Ноадія, син Бінуя, левіти.
34 By number and weight al was there. The total weight was recorded at the same time.	34 Все було почислено й зважено та й записано все в той же таки час.
35 When the exiles arrived from their captivity, they offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel -- twelvebulls on behalf of all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-two lambs, and as a sin offering twelve he-goats: the wholeof this as a burnt offering to Yahweh.	35 Сини неволі, що повернулися з вигнання, принесли на всепалення Богові Ізраїля 12 волів за всього Ізраїля, 96 баранів, 77 ягнят та 12 козлів у жертву за гріх — усе це на всепалення Господеві.
36 They also delivered the king's instructions to the king's satraps and the governors of Transeuphrates,who then supported the people and the Temple of God.	36 Вони передали царський наказ царським сатрапам та начальникам заріччя, а ці підтримували народ і дім Божий.
