Deuteronomy 24

1 "When a man, after marrying a woman and having relations with her, is later displeased with her because he finds in her something indecent, and therefore he writes out a bill of divorce and hands it to her, thus dismissing her from his house:	1 Se un uomo prende una donna e la sposa, e questa non trova più favore ai suoi occhi perché egli ha trovato in essa qualcosa di sconveniente, le scriverà un atto di divorzio, glielo consegnerà in mano e la rinvierà da casa sua;
2 if on leaving his house she goes and becomes the wife of another man,	2 se poi lei, uscita dalla sua casa, andrà e sarà di un altro uomo
3 and the second husband, too, comes to dislike her and dismisses her from his house by handing her a written bill of divorce; or if this second man who has married her, dies;	3 e anche questo secondo la odierà, le scriverà un atto di divorzio, glielo consegnerà in mano e la rinvierà da casa sua, oppure se questo secondo uomo che l'aveva sposata morirà,
4 then her former husband, who dismissed her, may not again take her as his wife after she has become defiled. That would be an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring such guilt upon the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you as a heritage.	4 il primo marito che l'aveva mandata via non potrà riprenderla per moglie dopo che è stata contaminata. Ciò è un abominio al cospetto del Signore, e tu non macchierai di peccato la terra che il Signore tuo Dio ti dona in eredità.
5 "When a man is newly wed, he need not go out on a military expedition, nor shall any public duty be imposed on him. He shall be exempt for one year for the sake of his family, to bring joy to the wife he has married.	5 Se un uomo si è appena sposato, non andrà nell'esercito, né gli si imporrà alcun servizio; per un anno rimarrà libero a casa sua e allieterà la moglie che ha preso.
6 "No one shall take a hand mill or even its upper stone as a pledge for debt, for he would be taking the debtor's sustenance as a pledge.	6 Non si prenderanno in pegno le due mole o la mola superiore; sarebbe prendere in pegno la vita.
7 "If any man is caught kidnaping a fellow Israelite in order to enslave him and sell him, the kidnaper shall be put to death. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.	7 Se si sorprende un uomo che rapisce uno dei suoi fratelli tra i figli d'Israele, se lo assoggetta o lo vende, quel rapitore morirà. Estirperai il male in mezzo a te.
8 "In an attack of leprosy you shall be careful to observe exactly and to carry out all the directions of the levitical priests. Take care to act in accordance with the instructions I have given them.	8 In caso di lebbra guarda di osservare bene e di fare tutto ciò che vi indicheranno i sacerdoti leviti: avrete cura di fare secondo ciò che io ho loro ordinato.
9 Remember what the LORD, your God, did to Miriam on the journey after you left Egypt.	9 Ricorda ciò che ha fatto il Signore tuo Dio a Maria, sul cammino, quando usciste dall'Egitto.
10 "When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, you shall not enter his house to receive a pledge from him,	10 Se fai un prestito qualsiasi al tuo prossimo, non entrerai in casa sua per prenderti il suo pegno;
11 but shall wait outside until the man to whom you are making the loan brings his pledge outside to you.	11 rimarrai fuori e l'uomo al quale hai fatto il prestito ti porterà fuori il pegno.
12 If he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in the mantle he gives as a pledge,	12 Ma se è un uomo povero, non dormirai col suo pegno:
13 but shall return it to him at sunset that he himself may sleep in it. Then he will bless you, and it will be a good deed of yours before the LORD, your God.	13 devi restituirgli il pegno al tramonto del sole; dormirà nel suo mantello e ti benedirà e ciò sarà per te una giustizia al cospetto del Signore tuo Dio.
14 "You shall not defraud a poor and needy hired servant, whether he be one of your own countrymen or one of the aliens who live in your communities.	14 Non opprimerai il salariato povero e indigente né tra i tuoi fratelli né tra i forestieri che si trovano nella tua terra, entro le tue città.
15 You shall pay him each day's wages before sundown on the day itself, since he is poor and looks forward to them. Otherwise he will cry to the LORD against you, and you will be held guilty.	15 Ogni giorno gli darai la sua mercede; su di essa non tramonterà il sole, perché egli è povero e ad essa leva il suo desiderio; che non gridi contro di te al Signore e in te non ci sia peccato.
16 "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children for their fathers; only for his own guilt shall a man be put to death.	16 Non saranno messi a morte i padri a causa dei figli né i figli saranno messi a morte a causa dei padri; ognuno sarà messo a morte per il proprio peccato.
17 "You shall not violate the rights of the alien or of the orphan, nor take the clothing of a widow as a pledge.	17 Non lederai il diritto del forestiero e dell'orfano e non prenderai in pegno la veste della vedova.
18 For, remember, you were once slaves in Egypt, and the LORD, your God, ransomed you from there; that is why I command you to observe this rule.	18 Ricordati che sei stato schiavo in Egitto e te ne ha liberato il Signore tuo Dio; perciò ti prescrivo di fare questo.
19 "When you reap the harvest in your field and overlook a sheaf there, you shall not go back to get it; let it be for the alien, the orphan or the widow, that the LORD, your God, may bless you in all your undertakings.	19 Quando raccogli la messe nel campo e dimentichi nel campo un covone, non tornare a prenderlo; sarà per il forestiero, per l'orfano e per la vedova, affinché ti benedica il Signore tuo Dio in ogni opera delle tue mani.
20 When you knock down the fruit of your olive trees, you shall not go over the branches a second time; let what remains be for the alien, the orphan and the widow.	20 Quando abbacchi il tuo olivo, non ripassare ciò che resta indietro: sarà per il forestiero, per l'orfano e per la vedova.
21 When you pick your grapes, you shall not go over the vineyard a second time; let what remains be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow.	21 Quando vendemmi la tua vigna, non tornare indietro a racimolare; sarà per il forestiero, per l'orfano e per la vedova.
22 For remember that you were once slaves in Egypt; that is why I command you to observe this rule.	22 Ricordati che sei stato schiavo in Egitto; perciò ti prescrivo di fare questo.
