Luke 19

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	Біблія
1 He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.	1 Увійшовши в Єрихон, Ісус проходив через (місто).
2 Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man,	2 А був там чоловік, Закхей на ім’я; він був головою над митарями й був багатий.
3 was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.	3 Він бажав бачити Ісуса, хто він такий, але не міг із-за народу, бо був малого зросту.
4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.	4 Побіг він наперед, виліз на сикомор, щоб подивитися на нього, бо Ісус мав проходити тудою.
5 When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house."	5 Прийшовши на те місце, Ісус глянув угору і сказав до нього «Закхею, притьмом злізай, бо я сьогодні маю бути в твоїм домі.»
6 And he came down quickly and received him with joy.	6 І зліз той швидко і прийняв його радо.
7 When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner."	7 Всі, бачивши те, заходилися нарікати та й казали «До чоловіка грішника зайшов у гостину.»
8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over."	8 А Закхей устав і до Господа промовив «Господи, ось половину майна свого даю вбогим, а коли чимсь когось і покривдив, поверну вчетверо.»
9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.	9 Ісус сказав до нього «Сьогодні на цей дім зійшло спасіння, бо й він син Авраама.
10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost."	10 Син бо Чоловічий прийшов шукати і спасти те, що загинуло.»
11 While they were listening to him speak, he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God would appear there immediately.	11 Як люди слухали це, Ісус сказав ще одну притчу, бо він був близько Єрусалиму, і вони думали, що Царство Боже негайно має з’явитись.
12 So he said, "A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.	12 Отож, він мовив «Один чоловік, знатного роду, пішов у далеку землю прийняти собі царство та й повернутись потім.
13 He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, 'Engage in trade with these until I return.'	13 Покликав він десятьох слуг своїх, дав їм десять мін і мовив до них Промишляйте ними, поки я повернуся.
14 His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, 'We do not want this man to be our king.'	14 Співгромадяни ж його ненавиділи його й вислали слідом за ним посольство, щоб сказати Не хочемо, щоб отой царював над нами!
15 But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading.	15 І от, як він, прийнявши царство, назад повернувся, звелів прикликати до себе слуг тих, що їм дав гроші, щоб довідатися, хто що придбав.
16 The first came forward and said, 'Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.'	16 Перший прийшов і каже Пане, міна твоя придбала інших десять.
17 He replied, 'Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.'	17 Гаразд, добрий слуго, — сказав пан, — тому, що ти вірний у маленькім, візьми управу над десятьма містами.
18 Then the second came and reported, 'Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.'	18 І прийшов другий і каже Пане, міна твоя, принесла п’ять мін.
19 And to this servant too he said, 'You, take charge of five cities.'	19 Він сказав і цьому Ти теж будь над п’ятьма містами.
20 Then the other servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief,	20 Прийшов ще інший й каже Ось твоя міна, пане, що я тримав заховану в хустинці,
21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.'	21 бо я лякався тебе, тому що ти чоловік жорстокий береш, чого не поклав, і жнеш, чого не посіяв.
22 He said to him, 'With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant;	22 А пан до нього й каже З уст твоїх я тебе суджу, лукавий слуго! Ти знав, що я чоловік жорстокий, беру, чого не поклав, і жну, чого не посіяв.
23 why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.'	23 Чому ж тоді не дав ти моїх грошей в обіг Я, повернувшись, відібрав би їх з відсотками.
24 And to those standing by he said, 'Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.'	24 І він сказав тим, що там стояли Візьміть від нього міну й дайте тому, що має десять мін.
25 But they said to him, 'Sir, he has ten gold coins.'	25 Пане! — сказали йому, — він має вже десять!
26 'I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.	26 Кажу вам Кожному, хто має, дасться, а в того, хто не має, відберуть і те, що має.
27 Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me.'"
28 After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.	28 Сказавши це, Ісус пішов попереду, простуючи вгору до Єрусалиму.
29 As he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples.	29 І от, як він наблизився до Витфагії та Витанії, до гори, що зветься Оливною, послав двох із своїх учнів,
30 He said, "Go into the village opposite you, and as you enter it you will find a colt tethered on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here.	30 кажучи «Ідіть у село, що перед вами; ввійшовши в нього, ви знайдете прив’язане ослятко, на якого ніхто з людей ще не сідав ніколи; відв’яжіть його і приведіть.
31 And if anyone should ask you, 'Why are you untying it?' you will answer, 'The Master has need of it.'"	31 Коли ж вас хтось спитає Навіщо відв’язуєте — ви скажете Господь його потребує.»
32 So those who had been sent went off and found everything just as he had told them.	32 Пішовши посланці, знайшли, як він сказав їм.
33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying this colt?"	33 Коли вони відв’язували осля, господарі його спитали їх «Навіщо відв’язуєте осля»
34 They answered, "The Master has need of it."	34 Ті відповіли «Господь його потребує».
35 So they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks over the colt, and helped Jesus to mount.	35 А привівши його до Ісуса й накинувши на осля свою одежу, посадили Ісуса.
36 As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road;	36 І як він їхав, простеляли свою одежу по дорозі.
37 and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen.	37 А як був близько вже до спуску з Оливної гори, вся громада його учнів, радіючи, почала сильним голосом хвалити Бога за всі чуда, що бачили,
38 They proclaimed: "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest."	38 кажучи «Благословен цар, що йде в ім’я Господнє! Мир на небі і слава на висотах!»
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples."	39 Деякі з фарисеїв, що були в юрбі, сказали йому «Учителю, заборони твоїм учням.»
40 He said in reply, "I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out!"	40 Він же відповів «Кажу вам Коли оці замовчать, кричатиме каміння.»
41 As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,	41 І як наблизився і побачив місто, він над ним заплакав,
42 saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes.	42 кажучи «Якби й ти цього дня зрозуміло те, що веде до миру! Але тепер воно закрите перед твоїми очима!
43 For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.	43 Бо прийдуть дні на тебе, і вороги твої валом тебе оточать і тебе обляжуть, і стиснуть тебе звідусюди;
44 They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."	44 вони розчавлять тебе й твоїх дітей, які будуть у тобі, і не зоставлять у тебе каменя на камені — за те, що ти не зрозуміло часу твоїх відвідин.»
45 Then Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things,	45 Увійшовши в храм, Ісус заходився виганяти продавців,
46 saying to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'"	46 кажучи до них: «Написано: Дім мій — дім молитви, а ви з нього зробили печеру розбишак.»
47 And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death,	47 І він щодня навчав їх у храмі. Первосвященики ж і книжники, а й старшина народу, шукали його вбити,
48 but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.	48 та не знаходили, що б йому зробити, бо ввесь народ, слухаючи його, горнувся до нього.
