1 Quant à Jésus, il alla au mont des Oliviers.	1 But Jesus continued on to the Mount of Olives.
2 Mais, dès l'aurore, de nouveau il fut là dans le Temple, et tout le peuple venait à lui, et s'étant assis illes enseignait.	2 And early in the morning, he went again to the temple; and all the people came to him. And sitting down, he taught them.
3 Or les scribes et les Pharisiens amènent une femme surprise en adultère et, la plaçant au milieu,	3 Now the scribes and Pharisees brought forward a woman caught in adultery, and they stood her in front of them.
4 ils disent à Jésus: "Maître, cette femme a été surprise en flagrant délit d'adultère.	4 And they said to him: “Teacher, this woman was just now caught in adultery.
5 Or dans la Loi Moïse nous a prescrit de lapider ces femmes-là. Toi donc, que dis-tu?"	5 And in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such a one. Therefore, what do you say?”
6 Ils disaient cela pour le mettre à l'épreuve, afin d'avoir matière à l'accuser. Mais Jésus, se baissant, semit à écrire avec son doigt sur le sol.	6 But they were saying this to test him, so that they might be able to accuse him. Then Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the earth.
7 Comme ils persistaient à l'interroger, il se redressa et leur dit: "Que celui d'entre vous qui est sanspéché lui jette le premier une pierre!"	7 And then, when they persevered in questioning him, he stood upright and said to them, “Let whoever is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.”
8 Et se baissant de nouveau, il écrivait sur le sol.	8 And bending down again, he wrote on the earth.
9 Mais eux, entendant cela, s'en allèrent un à un, à commencer par les plus vieux; et il fut laissé seul,avec la femme toujours là au milieu.	9 But upon hearing this, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, with the woman standing in front of him.
10 Alors, se redressant, Jésus lui dit: "Femme, où sont-ils? Personne ne t'a condamnée?"	10 Then Jesus, raising himself up, said to her: “Woman, where are those who accused you? Has no one condemned you?”
11 Elle dit: "Personne, Seigneur." Alors Jésus dit: "Moi non plus, je ne te condamne pas. Va, désormaisne pèche plus."	11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” Then Jesus said: “Neither will I condemn you. Go, and now do not choose to sin anymore.”
12 De nouveau Jésus leur adressa la parole et dit: "Je suis la lumière du monde. Qui me suit ne marcherapas dans les ténèbres, mais aura la lumière de la vie."	12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me does not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
13 Les Pharisiens lui dirent alors: "Tu te rends témoignage à toi-même; ton témoignage n'est pasvalable."	13 And so the Pharisees said to him, “You offer testimony about yourself; your testimony is not true.”
14 Jésus leur répondit: "Bien que je me rende témoignage à moi-même, mon témoignage est valable,parce que je sais d'où je suis venu et où je vais; mais vous, vous ne savez pas d'où je viens ni où je vais.	14 Jesus responded and said to them: “Even though I offer testimony about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going.
15 Vous, vous jugez selon la chair; moi, je ne juge personne;	15 You judge according to the flesh. I do not judge anyone.
16 et s'il m'arrive de juger, moi, mon jugement est selon la vérité, parce que je ne suis pas seul; mais il ya moi et celui qui m'a envoyé;	16 And when I do judge, my judgment is true. For I am not alone, but it is I and he who sent me: the Father.
17 et il est écrit dans votre Loi que le témoignage de deux personnes est valable.	17 And it is written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.
18 Je suis à moi-même mon propre témoin, et pour moi témoigne le Père qui m'a envoyé."	18 I am one who offers testimony about myself, and the Father who sent me offers testimony about me.”
19 Ils lui disaient donc: "Où est ton Père?" Jésus répondit: "Vous ne connaissez ni moi ni mon Père; sivous me connaissiez, vous connaîtriez aussi mon Père."	19 Therefore, they said to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered: “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also.”
20 Il prononça ces paroles au Trésor, alors qu'il enseignait dans le Temple. Personne ne se saisit de lui,parce que son heure n'était pas encore venue.	20 Jesus spoke these words at the treasury, while teaching in the temple. And no one apprehended him, because his hour had not yet come.
21 Jésus leur dit encore: "Je m'en vais et vous me chercherez et vous mourrez dans votre péché. Où jevais, vous ne pouvez venir."	21 Therefore, Jesus again spoke to them: “I am going, and you shall seek me. And you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you are not able to go.”
22 Les Juifs disaient donc: "Va-t-il se donner la mort, qu'il dise: Où je vais, vous ne pouvez venir?"	22 And so the Jews said, “Is he going to kill himself, for he said: ‘Where I am going, you are not able to go?’ ”
23 Et il leur disait: "Vous, vous êtes d'en bas; moi, je suis d'en haut. Vous, vous êtes de ce monde; moi, jene suis pas de ce monde.	23 And he said to them: “You are from below. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
24 Je vous ai donc dit que vous mourrez dans vos péchés. Car si vous ne croyez pas que Je Suis, vousmourrez dans vos péchés."	24 Therefore, I said to you, that you will die in your sins. For if you will not believe that I am, you will die in your sin.”
25 Ils lui disaient donc: "Qui es-tu?" Jésus leur dit: "Dès le commencement ce que je vous dis.	25 And so they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them: “The Beginning, who is also speaking to you.
26 J'ai sur vous beaucoup à dire et à juger; mais celui qui m'a envoyé est véridique et je dis au monde ceque j'ai entendu de lui."	26 I have much to say about you and to judge. But he who sent me is true. And what I have heard from him, this I speak within the world.”
27 Ils ne comprirent pas qu'il leur parlait du Père.	27 And they did not realize that he was calling God his Father.
28 Jésus leur dit donc: "Quand vous aurez élevé le Fils de l'homme, alors vous saurez que Je Suis et queje ne fais rien de moi-même, mais je dis ce que le Père m'a enseigné,	28 And so Jesus said to them: “When you will have lifted up the Son of man, then you shall realize that I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but just as the Father has taught me, so do I speak.
29 et celui qui m'a envoyé est avec moi; il ne m'a pas laissé seul, parce que je fais toujours ce qui luiplaît."	29 And he who sent me is with me, and he has not abandoned me alone. For I always do what is pleasing to him.”
30 Comme il disait cela, beaucoup crurent en lui.	30 As he was speaking these things, many believed in him.
31 Jésus dit alors aux Juifs qui l'avaient cru: "Si vous demeurez dans ma parole, vous êtes vraiment mesdisciples	31 Therefore, Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him: “If you will abide in my word, you will truly be my disciples.
32 et vous connaîtrez la vérité et la vérité vous libérera.	32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
33 Ils lui répondirent: "Nous sommes la descendance d'Abraham et jamais nous n'avons été esclaves depersonne. Comment peux-tu dire: Vous deviendrez libres?"	33 They answered him: “We are the offspring of Abraham, and we have never been a slave to anyone. How can you say, ‘You shall be set free?’ ”
34 Jésus leur répondit: "En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, quiconque commet le péché est esclave.	34 Jesus answered them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
35 Or l'esclave ne demeure pas à jamais dans la maison, le fils y demeure à jamais.	35 Now the slave does not abide in the house for eternity. Yet the Son does abide in eternity.
36 Si donc le Fils vous libère, vous serez réellement libres.	36 Therefore, if the Son has set you free, then you will truly be free.
37 Je sais, vous êtes la descendance d'Abraham; mais vous cherchez à me tuer, parce que ma parole nepénètre pas en vous.	37 I know that you are sons of Abraham. But you are seeking to kill me, because my word has not taken hold in you.
38 Je dis ce que j'ai vu chez mon Père; et vous, vous faites ce que vous avez entendu auprès de votrepère."	38 I speak what I have seen with my Father. And you do what you have seen with your father.”
39 Ils lui répondirent: "Notre père, c'est Abraham." Jésus leur dit: "Si vous êtes enfants d'Abraham, faitesles oeuvres d'Abraham.	39 They responded and said to him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them: “If you are the sons of Abraham, then do the works of Abraham.
40 Or maintenant vous cherchez à me tuer, moi, un homme qui vous ai dit la vérité, que j'ai entendue deDieu. Cela, Abraham ne l'a pas fait!	40 But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I have heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.
41 Vous faites les oeuvres de votre père." Ils lui dirent: "Nous ne sommes pas nés de la prostitution; nousn'avons qu'un seul Père: Dieu."	41 You do the works of your father.” Therefore, they said to him: “We were not born out of fornication. We have one father: God.”
42 Jésus leur dit: "Si Dieu était votre Père, vous m'aimeriez, car c'est de Dieu que je suis sorti et que jeviens; je ne viens pas de moi-même; mais lui m'a envoyé.	42 Then Jesus said to them: “If God were your father, certainly you would love me. For I proceeded and came from God. For I did not come from myself, but he sent me.
43 Pourquoi ne reconnaissez-vous pas mon langage? C'est que vous ne pouvez pas entendre ma parole.	43 Why do you not recognize my speech? It is because you are not able to hear my word.
44 Vous êtes du diable, votre père, et ce sont les désirs de votre père que vous voulez accomplir. Il étaithomicide dès le commencement et n'était pas établi dans la vérité, parce qu'il n'y a pas de vérité en lui: quand ilprofère le mensonge, il parle de son propre fonds, parce qu'il est menteur et père du mensonge.	44 You are of your father, the devil. And you will carry out the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning. And he did not stand in the truth, because the truth is not in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks it from his own self. For he is a liar, and the father of lies.
45 Mais parce que je dis la vérité, vous ne me croyez pas.	45 But if I speak the truth, you do not believe me.
46 Qui d'entre vous me convaincra de péché? Si je dis la vérité, pourquoi ne me croyez-vous pas?	46 Which of you can convict me of sin? If I speak the truth to you, why do you not believe me?
47 Qui est de Dieu entend les paroles de Dieu; si vous n'entendez pas, c'est que vous n'êtes pas de Dieu."	47 Whoever is of God, hears the words of God. For this reason, you do not hear them: because you are not of God.”
48 Les Juifs lui répondirent: "N'avons-nous pas raison de dire que tu es un Samaritain et que tu as undémon?"	48 Therefore, the Jews responded and said to him, “Are we not correct in saying that you are a Samaritan, and that you have a demon?”
49 Jésus répondit: "Je n'ai pas un démon mais j'honore mon Père, et vous cherchez à me déshonorer.	49 Jesus responded: “I do not have a demon. But I honor my Father, and you have dishonored me.
50 Je ne cherche pas ma gloire; il est quelqu'un qui la cherche et qui juge.	50 But I am not seeking my own glory. There is One who seeks and judges.
51 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si quelqu'un garde ma parole, il ne verra jamais la mort."	51 Amen, amen, I say to you, if anyone will have kept my word, he will not see death for eternity.”
52 Les Juifs lui dirent: "Maintenant nous savons que tu as un démon. Abraham est mort, les prophètesaussi, et tu dis: Si quelqu'un garde ma parole, il ne goûtera jamais de la mort.	52 Therefore, the Jews said: “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets; and yet you say, ‘If anyone will have kept my word, he shall not taste death for eternity.’
53 Es-tu donc plus grand qu'Abraham, notre père, qui est mort? Les prophètes aussi sont morts. Quiprétends-tu être?"	53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. So who do you make yourself to be?”
54 Jésus répondit: "Si je me glorifie moi-même, ma gloire n'est rien; c'est mon Père qui me glorifie, luidont vous dites: Il est notre Dieu,	54 Jesus responded: “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me. And you say about him that he is your God.
55 et vous ne le connaissez pas; mais moi, je le connais; et si je disais: Je ne le connais pas, je seraissemblable à vous, un menteur. Mais je le connais et je garde sa parole.	55 And yet you have not known him. But I know him. And if I were to say that I do not know him, then I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and I keep his word.
56 Abraham, votre père, exulta à la pensée qu'il verrait mon Jour. Il l'a vu et fut dans la joie."	56 Abraham, your father, rejoiced that he might see my day; he saw it and was glad.”
57 Les Juifs lui dirent alors: "Tu n'as pas 50 ans, et tu as vu Abraham!"	57 And so the Jews said to him, “You have not yet reached fifty years, and you have seen Abraham?”
58 Jésus leur dit: "En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, avant qu'Abraham existât, Je Suis."	58 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.”
59 Ils ramassèrent alors des pierres pour les lui jeter; mais Jésus se déroba et sortit du Temple.	59 Therefore, they took up stones to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and he departed from the temple.
