1 OR avvenne, nel primo sabato dal dì appresso la pasqua, ch’egli camminava per le biade; e i suoi discepoli svellevano delle spighe, e le mangiavano, sfregandole con le mani.	1 Now it happened that, on the second first Sabbath, as he passed through the grain field, his disciples were separating the ears of grain and eating them, by rubbing them in their hands.
2 Ed alcuni de’ Farisei disser loro: Perchè fate ciò che non è lecito di fare nei giorni di sabato?	2 Then certain Pharisees said to them, “Why are you doing what is not lawful on the Sabbaths?”
3 E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: Non avete voi pur letto ciò che fece Davide, quando ebbe fame, egli, e coloro ch’eran con lui?	3 And responding to them, Jesus said: “Have you not read this, what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him?
4 Come egli entrò nella casa di Dio, e prese i pani di presentazione, e ne mangiò, e ne diede ancora a coloro ch’eran con lui; i quali però non è lecito di mangiare, se non a’ sacerdoti soli?	4 How he entered into the house of God, and took the bread of the Presence, and ate it, and gave it to those who were with him, though it is not lawful for anyone to eat it, except the priests alone?”
5 Poi disse loro: Il Figliuol dell’uomo è Signore eziandio del sabato.	5 And he said to them, “For the Son of man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”
6 OR avvenne, in un altro sabato, ch’egli entrò nella sinagoga, ed insegnava; e quivi era un uomo, la cui man destra era secca.	6 And it happened that, on another Sabbath, he entered into the synagogue, and he taught. And there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.
7 E i Farisei e gli Scribi l’osservavano, se lo guarirebbe nel sabato; per trovar di che accusarlo.	7 And the scribes and Pharisees observed whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might thereby find an accusation against him.
8 Ma egli conosceva i lor pensieri, e disse all’uomo che avea la man secca: Levati, e sta’ in piè ivi in mezzo. Ed egli, levatosi, stette in piè.	8 Yet truly, he knew their thoughts, and so he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Rise up and stand in the middle.” And rising up, he stood still.
9 Gesù adunque disse loro: Io vi domando: Che? è egli lecito di far bene o male, ne’ sabati? di salvar una persona, o d’ucciderla?	9 Then Jesus said to them: “I ask you if it is lawful on the Sabbaths to do good, or to do evil? To give health to a life, or to destroy it?”
10 E guardatili tutti d’intorno, disse a quell’uomo: Distendi la tua mano. Ed egli fece così. E la sua mano fu resa sana come l’altra.	10 And looking around at everyone, he said to the man, “Extend your hand.” And he extended it. And his hand was restored.
11 Ed essi furono ripieni di furore, e ragionavano fra loro, che cosa farebbero a Gesù	11 Then they were filled with madness, and they discussed with one another, what, in particular, they might do about Jesus.
12 OR avvenne, in que’ giorni, ch’egli uscì al monte, per orare, e passò la notte in orazione a Dio.	12 And it happened that, in those days, he went out to a mountain to pray. And he was in the prayer of God throughout the night.
13 E quando fu giorno, chiamò a sè i suoi discepoli, e ne elesse dodici, i quali ancora nominò Apostoli;	13 And when daylight had arrived, he called his disciples. And he chose twelve out of them (whom he also named Apostles):
14 cioè: Simone, il quale ancora nominò Pietro, ed Andrea, suo fratello; Giacomo, e Giovanni; Filippo, e Bartolomeo;	14 Simon, whom he surnamed Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
15 Matteo, e Toma; Giacomo di Alfeo, e Simone, chiamato Zelote;	15 Matthew and Thomas, James of Alphaeus, and Simon who is called the Zealot,
16 Giuda, fratel di Giacomo, e Giuda Iscariot, il quale ancora fu traditore.	16 and Jude of James, and Judas Iscariot, who was a traitor.
17 POI, sceso con loro, si fermò in una pianura, con la moltitudine dei suoi discepoli, e con gran numero di popolo di tutta la Giudea, e di Gerusalemme, e della marina di Tiro, e di Sidon, i quali eran venuti per udirlo, e per esser guariti delle loro infermità;	17 And descending with them, he stood in a level place with a multitude of his disciples, and a copious multitude of people from all of Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast, and Tyre and Sidon,
18 insieme con coloro ch’erano tormentati da spiriti immondi; e furon guariti.	18 who had come so that they might listen to him and be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled by unclean spirits were cured.
19 E tutta la moltitudine cercava di toccarlo, perciocchè virtù usciva di lui, e li sanava tutti	19 And the entire crowd was trying to touch him, because power went out from him and healed all.
20 Ed egli, alzati gli occhi verso i suoi discepoli, diceva: Beati voi, poveri, perciocchè il regno di Dio è vostro.	20 And lifting up his eyes to his disciples, he said: “Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Beati voi, che ora avete fame, perciocchè sarete saziati. Beati voi, che ora piangete, perciocchè voi riderete.	21 Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who are weeping now, for you shall laugh.
22 Voi sarete beati, quando gli uomini vi avranno odiati, e vi avranno scomunicati, e vituperati, ed avranno bandito il vostro nome, come malvagio, per cagion del Figliuol dell’uomo.	22 Blessed shall you be when men will have hated you, and when they will have separated you and reproached you, and thrown out your name as if evil, because of the Son of man.
23 Rallegratevi, e saltate di letizia in quel giorno; perciocchè, ecco, il vostro premio è grande nei cieli; poichè il simigliante fecero i padri loro a’ profeti.	23 Be glad in that day and exult. For behold, your reward is great in heaven. For these same things their fathers did to the prophets.
24 Ma, guai a voi, ricchi! perciocchè voi avete la vostra consolazione.	24 Yet truly, woe to you who are wealthy, for you have your consolation.
25 Guai a voi, che siete ripieni! perciocchè voi avrete fame. Guai a voi, che ora ridete! perciocchè voi farete cordoglio, e piangerete.	25 Woe to you who are satisfied, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
26 Guai a voi, quando tutti gli uomini diranno bene di voi! poichè il simigliante fecero i padri loro a’ falsi profeti	26 Woe to you when men will have blessed you. For these same things their fathers did to the false prophets.
27 Ma io dico a voi che udite: Amate i vostri nemici; fate bene a coloro che vi odiano;	27 But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.
28 benedite coloro che vi maledicono; e pregate per coloro che vi molestano.	28 Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who slander you.
29 Se alcuno ti percuote su di una guancia, porgigli eziandio l’altra; e non divietar colui che ti toglie il mantello di prendere ancora la tonica.	29 And to him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your coat, do not withhold even your tunic.
30 E da’ a chiunque ti chiede; e se alcuno ti toglie il tuo, non ridomandarglielo.	30 But distribute to all who ask of you. And do not ask again of him who takes away what is yours.
31 E, come voi volete che gli uomini vi facciano, fate ancor loro simigliantemente.	31 And exactly as you would want people to treat you, treat them also the same.
32 E se amate coloro che vi amano, che grazia ne avrete? poichè i peccatori ancora amano coloro che li amano.	32 And if you love those who love you, what credit is due to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
33 E se fate bene a coloro che fan bene a voi, che grazia ne avrete? poichè i peccatori fanno il simigliante.	33 And if you will do good to those who do good to you, what credit is due to you? Indeed, even sinners behave this way.
34 E se prestate a coloro da’ quali sperate riaverlo, che grazie ne avrete? poichè i peccatori prestano a’ peccatori, per riceverne altrettanto.	34 And if you will loan to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is due to you? For even sinners lend to sinners, in order to receive the same in return.
35 Ma voi, amate i vostri nemici, e fate bene, e prestate, non isperandone nulla; e il vostro premio sarà grande, e sarete i figliuoli dell’Altissimo; poichè egli è benigno inverso gl’ingrati, e malvagi.	35 So truly, love your enemies. Do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. And then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and to the wicked.
36 Siate adunque misericordiosi, siccome ancora il Padre vostro è misericordioso	36 Therefore, be merciful, just as your Father is also merciful.
37 E non giudicate, e non sarete giudicati; non condannate, e non sarete condannati; rimettete, e vi sarà rimesso.	37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Date, e vi sarà dato; buona misura, premuta, scossa, e traboccante, vi sarà data in seno; perciocchè, di qual misura misurate, sarà altresì misurato a voi.	38 Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed down and shaken together and overflowing, they will place upon your lap. Certainly, the same measure that you use to measure out, will be used to measure back to you again.”
39 Or egli disse loro una similitudine. Può un cieco guidar per la via un altro cieco? non caderanno essi amendue nella fossa?	39 Now he told them another comparison: “How can the blind lead the blind? Would they not both fall into a pit?
40 Niun discepolo è da più del suo maestro; ma ogni discepolo perfetto dev’essere come il suo maestro.	40 The disciple is not above his teacher. But each one will be perfected, if he is like his teacher.
41 Ora, che guardi tu il fuscello ch’è nell’occhio del tuo fratello, e non iscorgi la trave ch’è nell’occhio tuo proprio?	41 And why do you see the straw that is in your brother’s eye, while the log that is in your own eye, you do not consider?
42 Ovvero, come puoi dire al tuo fratello: Fratello, lascia che io ti tragga il fuscello ch’è nell’occhio tuo; non veggendo tu stesso la trave ch’è nell’occhio tuo proprio? Ipocrita, trai prima dell’occhio tuo la trave, ed allora ci vedrai bene per trarre il fuscello, ch’è nell’occhio del tuo fratello.	42 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, allow me to remove the straw from your eye,’ while you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? Hypocrite, first remove the log from your own eye, and then will you see clearly, so that you may lead out the straw from your brother’s eye.
43 Perciocchè non vi è buon albero, che faccia frutto cattivo; nè albero cattivo, che faccia buon frutto.	43 For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor does an evil tree produce good fruit.
44 Perciocchè ogni albero è riconosciuto dal proprio frutto; poichè non si colgono fichi dalle spine, e non si vendemmiano uve dal pruno.	44 For each and every tree is known by its fruit. For they do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather the grape from the bramble bush.
45 L’uomo buono, dal buon tesoro del suo cuore, reca fuori il bene; e l’uomo malvagio, dal malvagio tesoro del suo cuore, reca fuori il male; perciocchè la sua bocca parla di ciò che gli soprabbonda nel cuore.	45 A good man, from the good storehouse of his heart, offers what is good. And an evil man, from the evil storehouse, offers what is evil. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
46 Ora, perchè mi chiamate Signore, e non fate le cose che io dico?	46 But why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?
47 Chiunque viene a me, e ode le mie parole, e le mette ad effetto, io vi mostrerò a cui egli è simile.	47 Anyone who comes to me, and listens to my words, and does them: I will reveal to you what he is like.
48 Egli è simile ad un uomo che edifica una casa, il quale ha cavato, e profondato, ed ha posto il fondamento sopra la pietra; ed essendo venuta una piena, il torrente ha urtata quella casa, e non l’ha potuta scrollare, perciocchè era fondata in su la pietra.	48 He is like a man building a house, who has dug deep and has laid the foundation upon the rock. Then, when the floodwaters came, the river was rushing against that house, and it was not able to move it. For it was founded upon the rock.
49 Ma chi le ha udite, e non le ha messe ad effetto, è simile ad un uomo che ha edificata una casa sopra la terra, senza fondamento; la quale il torrente avendo urtata, ella è di subito caduta, e la sua ruina è stata grande	49 But whoever hears and does not do: he is like a man building his house upon the soil, without a foundation. The river rushed against it, and it soon fell down, and the ruin of that house was great.”
