Isaia 28

1 GUAI alla corona della superbia degli ubbriachi di Efraim; la gloria della cui magnificenza è un fiore che si appassa; i quali abitano nel sommo delle valli grasse, e sono storditi di vino!	1 Woe to the crown of arrogance, to the inebriated of Ephraim, and to the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, to those who were at the top of the very fat valley, staggering from wine.
2 Ecco, il Signore ha appo sè un uomo forte e potente, che sarà come un nembo di gragnuola, come un turbo fracassante; egli atterrerà ogni cosa con la mano, a guisa d’una piena di grandi acque traboccanti.	2 Behold, the Lord is powerful and steadfast, like a storm of hail, like a crushing whirlwind, like the force of many waters, inundating, sent forth over a spacious land.
3 La corona della superbia, gli ubbriachi di Efraim, saranno calpestati co’ piedi;	3 The arrogant crown of the inebriated of Ephraim will be trampled under foot.
4 e la gloria della magnificenza di colui che abita nel sommo delle valli grasse, sarà come un fiore che si appassa; come un frutto primaticcio avanti la state, il qual tosto che alcuno ha veduto, lo trangugia, come prima l’ha in mano.	4 And the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, who is at the summit of the fat valley, will be like a premature fruit before the ripeness of autumn, which, when the onlooker beholds it, as soon he takes it in his hand, he will devour it.
5 In quel giorno il Signor degli eserciti sarà per corona di gloria, e per benda di magnificenza, al rimanente del suo popolo;	5 In that day, the Lord of hosts will be the crown of glory and the wreath of exultation for the remnant of his people.
6 e sarà per ispirito di giudicio a colui che siede sopra il seggio del giudicio; e per forza a quelli che fanno nella battaglia voltar le spalle a’ nemici fino alla porta.	6 And he will be the spirit of judgment for those who sit in judgment, and the strength of those who return from war to the gates.
7 Or anche costoro si sono invaghiti del vino, e son traviati nella cervogia; il sacerdote e il profeta si sono invaghiti della cervogia, sono stati perduti per lo vino, e traviati per la cervogia; hanno errato nella visione, si sono intoppati nel giudicio.	7 Yet truly, these also have been ignorant due to wine, and they have gone astray due to inebriation. The priest and the prophet have been ignorant because of inebriation. They have been absorbed by wine. They have staggered in drunkenness. They have not known the One who sees. They have been ignorant of judgment.
8 Perciocchè tutte le tavole son piene di vomito e di lordure; non vi è più luogo netto	8 For all the tables have been filled with vomit and filth, so much so that there was no place left.
9 A cui s’insegnerebbe la scienza, ed a cui si farebbe intender la dottrina? costoro son come bambini spoppati, svezzati dalle mammelle.	9 To whom will he teach knowledge? And to whom will he grant an understanding of what is heard? To those who have been weaned from the milk, who have been pulled away from the breasts.
10 Perciocchè bisogna dar loro insegnamento dopo insegnamento, insegnamento dopo insegnamento; linea dopo linea, linea dopo linea; un poco qui, un poco là.	10 So then: command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there.
11 Conciossiachè Iddio parli a questo popolo con labbra balbettanti, e in lingua straniera.	11 For with the speech of lips and with a different language, he will speak to this people.
12 Perciocchè egli avea lor detto: Questo è il riposo; date riposo allo stanco; questa è la quiete; ma essi non hanno voluto ascoltare.	12 He said to them: “This is my rest. Refresh the weary,” and, “This is my refreshment.” And yet they were unwilling to listen.
13 La parola del Signore adunque sarà loro a guisa d’insegnamento dopo insegnamento, d’insegnamento dopo insegnamento; di linea dopo linea, di linea dopo linea; un poco qui, un poco là; acciocchè vadano, e cadano a ritroso, e sieno fiaccati, e sieno allacciati, e presi	13 And so, the word of the Lord to them will be: “Command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there,” so that they may go forward and fall backward, and so that they may be broken and ensnared and captured.
14 Perciò, ascoltate la parola del Signore, uomini schernitori, che signoreggiate questo popolo, che è in Gerusalemme.	14 Because of this, listen to the word of the Lord, you mocking men, who lord it over my people who are at Jerusalem.
15 Perciocchè voi avete detto: Noi abbiam fatto patto con la morte, ed abbiam fatta lega col sepolcro; quando il flagello inondante passerà, egli non giungerà infino a noi; conciossiachè noi abbiam posta la menzogna per nostro ricetto, e ci siam nascosti nella falsità;	15 For you have said: “We struck a deal with death, and we formed a pact with Hell. When the inundating scourge passes through, it will not overwhelm us. For we have placed our hope in lies, and we are protected by what is false.”
16 perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, io son quel che ho posta in Sion una pietra, una pietra a prova, pietra di cantone preziosa, un fondamento ben fondato; chi crederà non si smarrirà.	16 For this reason, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will set a stone within the foundations of Zion, a tested stone, a cornerstone, a precious stone, which has been established in the foundation: whoever trusts in him need not hurry.
17 E metterò il giudicio al regolo, e la giustizia al livello; e la gragnuola spazzerà via il ricetto di menzogna, e le acque ne inonderanno il nascondimento.	17 And I will establish judgment in weights, and justice in measures. And a hailstorm will overturn hope in what is false; and waters will inundate its protection.
18 E il vostro patto con la morte sarà annullato, e la vostra lega col sepolcro non sarà ferma; quando il flagello inondante passerà, voi ne sarete calpestati.	18 And your deal with death will be abolished, and your pact with Hell will not stand. When the inundating scourge passes through, you will be trampled down by it.
19 Da che passerà, egli vi porterà via; perciocchè passerà mattina dopo mattina, di giorno e di notte; e il sentirne il grido non produrrà altro che commovimento.	19 Whenever it passes through, it will take you away. For, at first light of morning, it will pass through, in the day and in the night, and vexation alone will make you understand what you hear.
20 Perciocchè il letto sarà troppo corto, da potervisi distender dentro; e la coverta troppo stretta, per avvilupparsene.	20 For the bed has been narrowed, so much so that one alone would fall out, and the short blanket is not able to cover two.
21 Perciocchè il Signore si leverà, come nel monte di Perasim, e si commoverà come nella valle di Gabaon, per far la sua opera, la sua opera strana; e per eseguire la sua operazione, la sua operazione straordinaria.	21 For the Lord will stand, just as at the mountain of divisions. He will be angry, just as in the valley which is in Gibeon, so that he may accomplish his work, his strange work, so that he may complete his work, his work which is foreign even to him.
22 Ora dunque, non vi fate beffe; che talora i vostri legami non sieno rinforzati; perciocchè io ho udita da parte del Signore Iddio degli eserciti una sentenza finale, ed una determinazione contro a tutto il paese	22 And now, do not be willing to mock, lest your chains be tightened. For I have heard, from the Lord, the God of hosts, about the consummation and the abridgement concerning the entire earth.
23 Porgete le orecchie, ed ascoltate la mia voce; state attenti, ed ascoltate il mio ragionamento.	23 Pay close attention, and listen to my voice! Attend and hear my eloquence!
24 L’aratore ara egli ogni giorno per seminare? non rompe, e non erpica egli la sua terra?	24 Would the plowman, after plowing all day so that he may sow, instead cut open and hoe his soil?
25 Quando ne ha appianato il disopra, non vi sparge egli la veccia, e non vi semina egli il comino, e non vi pone egli il frumento a certa misura, e l’orzo a certi segni, e la spelta nel suo proprio spazio?	25 Will he not, when he has made the surface level, sow coriander, and scatter cumin, and plant wheat in rows, and barley, and millet, and vetch in their places?
26 E l’Iddio suo l’ammaestra, e gl’insegna l’ordine che deve guardare.	26 For he will be instructed in judgment; his God will teach him.
27 Conciossiachè non si trebbi la veccia con la trebbia, e non si ravvolga la ruota del carro sopra il comino; anzi si scuote la veccia con la bacchetta, e il comino con la mazza.	27 For coriander cannot be threshed with a saw, and a cartwheel cannot revolve over cumin. Instead, coriander is shaken out with a stick, and cumin with a staff.
28 Ma il frumento è trebbiato; perciocchè altrimenti egli non lo batterebbe giammai abbastanza. Così lo trebbia con le ruote del suo carro, ma non lo frange già coi denti del suo rastrello.	28 But grain for bread must be crushed. Truly, the thresher cannot thresh it unceasingly, and the cartwheel can neither disrupt it, nor break it with its surface.
29 Questo altresì procede dal Signor degli eserciti, il quale è maraviglioso in consiglio, e grande in sapienza	29 And this has gone forth from the Lord, the God of hosts, so that he may accomplish his miraculous plan and magnify justice.
