1 Ante todo, te recomiendo que se hagan peticiones, oraciones, súplicas y acciones de gracias por todos los hombres,	1 First of all, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone,
2 por los soberanos y por todas las autoridades, para que podamos disfrutar de paz y de tranquilidad, y llevar una vida piadosa y digna.	2 for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity.
3 Esto es bueno y agradable a Dios, nuestro Salvador,	3 This is good and pleasing to God our savior,
4 porque él quiere que todos se salven y lleguen al conocimiento de la verdad.	4 who wills everyone to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth.
5 Hay un solo Dios y un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres: Jesucristo, hombre él también,	5 For there is one God. There is also one mediator between God and the human race, Christ Jesus, himself human,
6 que se entregó a sí mismo para rescatar a todos. Este es el testimonio que él dio a su debido tiempo,	6 who gave himself as ransom for all. This was the testimony at the proper time.
7 y del cual fui constituido heraldo y Apóstol para enseñar a los paganos la verdadera fe. Digo la verdad, y no miento.	7 For this I was appointed preacher and apostle (I am speaking the truth, I am not lying), teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Por lo tanto, quiero que los hombres oren constantemente, levantando las manos al cielo con recta intención, sin arrebatos ni discusiones.	8 It is my wish, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or argument.
9 Que las mujeres, por su parte, se arreglen decentemente, con recato y modestia, sin usar peinados rebuscados, ni oro, ni perlas, ni vestidos costosos.	9 Similarly, (too,) women should adorn themselves with proper conduct, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hairstyles and gold ornaments, or pearls, or expensive clothes,
10 Que se adornen más bien con buenas obras, como conviene a personas que practican la piedad.	10 but rather, as befits women who profess reverence for God, with good deeds.
11 Que las mujeres escuchen la instrucción en silencio, con todo respeto.	11 A woman must receive instruction silently and under complete control.
12 No permito que ellas enseñen, ni que pretendan imponer su autoridad sobre el marido: al contrario, que permanezcan calladas.	12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. She must be quiet.
13 Porque primero fue creado Adán, y después Eva.	13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14 Y no fue Adán el que se dejó seducir, sino que Eva fue engañada y cayó en el pecado.	14 Further, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.
15 Pero la mujer se salvará, cumpliendo sus deberes de madre, a condición de que persevere en la fe, en el amor y en la santidad, con la debida discreción.	15 But she will be saved through motherhood, provided women persevere in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
