Romanos 10

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Hermanos, el anhelo de mi corazón y mi oración a Dios en favor de ellos es que se salven.	1 Brothers, my dearest wish and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.
2 Testifico en su favor que tienen celo de Dios, pero no conforme a un pleno conocimiento.	2 I readily testify to their fervour for God, but it is misguided.
3 Pues desconociendo la justicia de Dios y empeñándose en establecer la suya propia, no se sometieron a la justicia de Dios.	3 Not recognising God's saving justice they have tried to establish their own, instead of submitting tothe saving justice of God.
4 Porque el fin de la ley es Cristo, para justificación de todo creyente.	4 But the Law has found its fulfilment in Christ so that al who have faith wil be justified.
5 En efecto, Moisés escribe acerca de la justicia que nace de la ley: Quien la cumpla, vivirá por ella.	5 Moses writes of the saving justice that comes by the Law and says that whoever complies with it wilfind life in it.
6 Mas la justicia que viene de la fe dice así: No digas en tu corazón ¿quién subirá al cielo?, es decir: para hacer bajar a Cristo;	6 But the saving justice of faith says this: Do not think in your heart, 'Who wil go up to heaven?' --
7 o bien: ¿quién bajará al abismo?, es decir: para hacer subir a Cristo de entre los muertos.	7 that is to bring Christ down; or 'Who wil go down to the depths?' -- that is to bring Christ back fromthe dead.
8 Entonces, ¿qué dice? Cerca de ti está la palabra: en tu boca y en tu corazón, es decir, la palabra de la fe que nosotros proclamamos.	8 What does it say, then? The word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, theword of faith, the faith which we preach,
9 Porque, si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios le resucitó de entre los muertos, serás salvo.	9 that if you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with your heart that Godraised him from the dead, then you wil be saved.
10 Pues con el corazón se cree para conseguir la justicia, y con la boca se confiesa para conseguir la salvación.	10 It is by believing with the heart that you are justified, and by making the declaration with your lipsthat you are saved.
11 Porque dice la Escritura: Todo el que crea en él no será confundido.	11 When scripture says: No one who relies on this wil be brought to disgrace,
12 Que no hay distinción entre judío y griego, pues uno mismo es el Señor de todos, rico para todos los que le invocan.	12 it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: the same Lord is the Lord of all, and his generosityis offered to al who appeal to him,
13 Pues todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor se salvará.	13 for al who cal on the name of the Lord wil be saved.
14 Pero ¿cómo invocarán a aquel en quien no han creído? ¿Cómo creerán en aquel a quien no han oído? ¿Cómo oirán sin que se les predique?	14 How then are they to call on him if they have not come to believe in him? And how can they believein him if they have never heard of him? And how wil they hear of him unless there is a preacher for them?
15 Y ¿cómo predicarán si no son enviados? Como dice la Escritura: ¡Cuán hermosos los pies de los que anuncian el bien!	15 And how wil there be preachers if they are not sent? As scripture says: How beautiful are the feet ofthe messenger of good news.
16 Pero no todos obedecieron a la Buena Nueva. Porque Isaías dice: ¡Señor!, ¿quién ha creído a nuestra predicación?	16 But in fact they have not all responded to the good news. As Isaiah says: Lord, who has givencredence to what they have heard from us?
17 Por tanto, la fe viene de la predicación, y la predicación, por la Palabra de Cristo.	17 But it is in that way faith comes, from hearing, and that means hearing the word of Christ.
18 Y pregunto yo: ¿Es que no han oído? ¡Cierto que sí! Por toda la tierra se ha difundido su voz y hasta los confines de la tierra sus palabras.	18 Wel then, I say, is it possible that they have not heard? Indeed they have: in the entire earth theirvoice stands out, their message reaches the whole world.
19 Pero pregunto: ¿Es que Israel no comprendió? Moisés es el primero en decir: Os volveré celosos de una que no es nación; contra una nación estúpida os enfureceré.	19 Wel , another question, then: is it possible that Israel did not understand? In the first place Mosessaid: I shal rouse you to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate you with a stupid nation.
20 Isaías, a su vez, se atreve a decir: Fui hallado de quienes no me buscaban; me manifesté a quienes no preguntaban por mi.	20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say: I have let myself be found by those who did not seek me; Ihave let myself be seen by those who did not consult me;
21 Mas a Israel dice: Todo el día extendí mis manos hacia un pueblo incrédulo y rebelde.	21 and referring to Israel, he says: Al day long I have been stretching out my hands to a disobedientand rebel ious people.
